Fun spot! Limited menu but I would think of it more like a curated menu. This place understands you walked in for a burger and fries and doubles down on delivering exactly that. I had the single cheeseburger meal. DH had the double cheeseburger meal. Both came with their signature frix - "fry mix" and it's awesome. I couldn't decide which of the three styles of fries I liked best, DH says shoestring wins. I had my burger Detour Style and it was similar to a Big Mac... First time trying burger detour. Wasn't really sure what to expect and didn't have really any expectations going in. I always find it exciting when West Omaha gets a new restaurant. They have both a drive-through and small dining area. The things that we got that were good... were really good! And then the rest was a little different. I really enjoyed their fries, this was something I thought that was really cool as they have three different kinds of fries. Waffle fries, Crinkle cut, and shoe string all in one mix. Something that I thought was definitely unique, and you got a large quantity. The other thing that I liked was their homemade ranch and detour sauce. Other than that, the rest, I wasn't the biggest fan of. I ordered a chocolate malt. It was made with soft serve, but just missed the mark for me. The burger bun for me was unfortunately a huge miss, I actually picked my burger off the bun to finish it. It was really sweet, kind of honey like, and had an unusual texture where it was falling apart. I ordered a cheeseburger with no pickles and added their detour sauce, their frix, and a coke. Overall I would say this place was pretty good! Definitely left me hanging a little bit but there were great highlights! The burger had the softest, sweetest buns which were so good, but it didn't really taste like I was eating a burger. Didn't taste the sauce or any char on the patty. It was also pretty messy with the shredded lettuce. The frix were pretty great! It's their mixture of shoestring fries, crinkle cut fries, and waffles fries. The potatoes here are so good! I think my fave was the waffle fry! I grabbed a side of ranch and detour sauce and they both fell flat. Added nothing to the bite of fry. Their detour sauce tasted like a mix of mayo and ketchup, not at all like Cane's sauce or Animal sauce like I've heard. Ranch was disappointing for a burger place so I'll stick with Runza. Went through the drive thru around 6pm and it was super quick which was unexpected. Only issue was they gave me the wrong drink, but that was totally minor! I was super excited for a new, local burger place to open near me and Burger Detour did not disappoint! Their menu is simple: Burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken bites, traditional sides, and shakes. For opening day, the service went quick and the drive thru was fast. It's a smaller interior seating area, and two lanes for drive thru, but they also have a nice patio area with heaters and tv to watch when the weather gets warmer. The food itself was excellent! The chicken sandwich was lightly breaded and crispy, cooked to perfection. The special sauce I'd compare to Raising Canes which was delicious. They also offer a fry combo "Frix" which includes shoestring, crinkle and waffle fries. I definitely preferred the waffle fries. This will absolutely become one of my go to fast food stops now that it's open given its fresh flavors and addictive sauce! read more

I liked this place, I reminded me of a cross between 5 guys and a good bar burger. First off, the place was immaculately clean, and the people working there were extremely nice. I ordered a double cheeseburger with their sauce on it, and my wife had the fired chicken nuggets, and we both had fries, which, by the way are awesome. They mix regular, crinkle, and waffle fries and give you a huge portion. The burger was good, the sauce was nothing special, but didn't hurt the taste by any means, I would definitely order it again. It was expensive, like 5 guys level, but the portions were big and it's 2024, so everything is expensive, right? I would go back and get the same thing, or the chicken nuggets, which were also good. On 3/12/2025 I tried Burger Detour for the first time. I had a chocolate shake, which was really good. I tried their chicken nuggets, cheeseburger and their frix. The frix are three types of fries served together. Think of waffle fries, crinkle fries and regular shaped fries like McDs with seasoning. Their chicken nuggets were huge, the breading was nice but the nugs were lacking something. That was even after dipping them into ranch sauce and their Detour sauce. The frix were good, I liked the seasoning on them. The burger was decent, it reminded me of another restaurants burger like Amigos/Kings Classic. The place was nice and clean. You have the option of sitting in a covered patio area or sit inside. If you want your meal to go, I liked how their double drive through was setup, kinda of like a banks'. This local chain has potential of growing. Work on them nugs though! ;) The staff was nice and the wait for my food was short. read more

This place is designed mostly for drive-thru. There are two lanes. Indoor seating is somewhat limited. There is outdoor seating too. In fact, they have outdoor heaters which made it comfortable on the mild winter day that we first visited. As for the food-- we were very satisfied. The burgers are thick, the toppings are just right. Spot on. The serving of fries as a trio is cute, clever, and fun though a little bit overcooked. Straight fries, crinkle fries, and waffle fries! The chocolate malt was satisfying, not amazing. It was very thick, almost too thick if that's possible. Okay, so this restaurant literally just opened today, 10:30 a.m. and I'm writing this review at 11:30. Honestly, burgers are my favorite type of food, so as soon as this restaurant opened I knew I would be there on opening day. And yesterday they sent an email that today was today so here I am. The restaurant itself, as well as all the food packaging, is very old fashioned and low key. Exterior is a black building with yellow arrows and very plain. It's fitting because the food is the real highlight. Plain white fry bags and brown wrapping for the burgers. I'm not sure if this would be traded for branded packaging later, but I liked old school feel. Although I wanted to try multiple things on the menu, I just wasn't super hungry today so I figured I would try their main item. I got the double cheeseburger, with Frix and a drink, and some of their detour sauce. The burger itself was meaty, nice and juicy, and very tasty. It had good flavor, and was really the main focus of the sandwich, it wasn't overpowered by his seasoning or by toppings. The one was soft but held all the weight of the double cheeseburger and toppings without any give. The burgers come with ketchup, lettuce, diced onions, and pickles. The toppings were all fresh and the pickles were nice and crispy. The fries were crispy as well, just the right amount of saltiness, and also very pleasing. At burger detour, the combos come with Frix, which is a mix of shoestring, crinkle, and waffle fries. All of them were cooked perfection, and I got a good mix of all three in my bag. The detour sauce is similar to other similar sauces. I can't really say that it was any better but it definitely complemented the fries and the burger both very well. Lastly, I'll point out this might have been the smoothest grand opening I've been to in a long time, if ever. In fact, I didn't know it was grand opening day, I don't think I could have determined it from my visit. Oftentimes, these are quite disorganized. But burger detour had a short line, employees moving through the lines quickly, but also smiling and providing great customer service. It took me about 2 to 3 minutes to have my order taken, and another three minutes or less actually received my food. The wife and I were so excited when we heard that a new burger place was being build on Maple Street, being that I am a transplanted Californian, I am always looking for a burger place that can help me forget my In-N-Out childhood, but I have yet to find one that can do that ... may never find one, but the search is on. When the Burger Detour was completed, we decided to give it a go, choosing to walk in, which was pretty nice for a fast food burger joint ... there were TVs with sports on, the seating was adequate, and the ambiance, well, it was a lot like any other fast food establishment. I ordered a Double combo for me, and a single combo for my wife, along with two vanilla shakes. The place was kinda busy, since it was new, but we got our food fairly quickly. I was pleasantly surprised by two things .... first, the fries were a combo of straight, crinkle and waffles, so that was interesting. Second, the burger was hot, juicy, looked delicious, and actually had good flavor. I thought I had finally found a decent burger joint in Omaha! UNTIL OUR NEXT VISIT. On our second visit, which was a few months after our first, when we got our burger combos they were dry, cold, and lacking the attention to detail that we saw on the first visit. The Frix (combo fries) were also cold, and sparce in the fries container. We chocked it up to it being close to a dinner rush. Visit number three, was in the middle of the afternoon, with no one else ordering .... and the food was very close to what we got in visit number 2. Sparce fries, lackadaisically assembled burger, over cooked and dry, crappy toppings ... just poorly constructed burgers of subpar quality. I am the kind of person that gives a restaurant 3 tries .... not sure I will give Burger Detour another chance, since they have only performed well when they were new, and trying to get a customer base. Time will tell if I ever try them again, but if I do, I really hope they have figured it out, the burgers aren't cheap and getting an inferior burger after paying a pretty penny for it does not sit well with me. read more

I read past Yelp reviews on Burger Detour before making up my mind to finally visit here. While looking over the menu, the chili was a selected side dish to the cheeseburger. As past Yelpers claimed, the cheeseburger was 'okay' and didn't deliver a flavor punch to the taste buds. However, the chili actually did. I did add a spoonful of sour cream and sprinkled the shredded cheese. There is a slight bite to the mixture which was pleasing to the taste buds. The criss cross fries were also very good. They are very generous with the serving size. Overall, the cheeseburger didn't win me over but definitely the chili did. I don't know if I would be a frequent patron but it does provide a choice besides the other fast food places. read more

Heard this spot recently opened in Elkhorn and was in the area, so we figured we try it out! It's located a big separately from the hustle and bustle of Maple Street, which over time I'm sure will expand. My husband got the double burger combo and I got the fried chicken sandwich. The staff was quick and very helpful. The design of the place was more modern, which made it fun. They even have an outdoor space with a TV. The burger was basic with the cheese, veggies, and sauce. Something similar to like In N Out. Nothing super out of this world, just simple. The chicken sandwich did not execute as decently. The chicken was extremely dry, so I needed extra sauce to drown the chicken for more moisture. It was honestly a bit difficult to eat. The "frix" consisted of waffle cut, crinkle, and regular fries mixed together. Which is a fun concept however it was pretty over fried, making them a bit rock hard to chew. If you're needing a fast food burger joint to get a quick fix, this could be one of this places. I probably wouldn't get the chicken sandwich again if I were ever to go back. read more

A friend and I went to check out the new location as we'd seen lots of signage and hadn't heard of the place. When we went (March 2024) the place was buzzing with lots of people likely going for a similar reason as us. I left feeling underwhelmed by the food. It was very middle of the road. I have no reason or desire to go back for the food. Price was in line with most places, but there wasn't any "wow" factor. Fries three ways was fun and they weren't too bad, but other than that... no reason I'd choose to go back. I WILL highlight the fact that the staff were very welcoming, very polite, and clearly were focusing on both customer service and cleanliness - which I appreciated. My opinion? This review is actually for the new location at 203rd and Pacific, which I couldn't find on Yelp yet. Just okay. The place is very clean and the staff pleasant. I had a single with the fry sampler and a malt. The burger comes with cheese, lettuce, pickle, ketchup. I left off the onions. The patty was hot and moist but had a soft texture and off flavor, like it was over-processed. I think a hamburger should have a little texture and appearance of beef. This didn't. The bun sort of disintegrated as I ate, so things got messy. The fries were interesting. I liked the waffle fries, crunchy outside, soft inside. The waffle fries were limp and I didn't even try the standard fries. The 'malt' is just soft-serve. Someone there needs to Google 'malt' and find out what it's supposed to be! I have been anxiously awaiting the opening, since it is in my neighborhood. Today was our day to try it out. I pulled up the menu, planned the order for my drive thru visit. I have to admit being lapped in the drive thru multiple times is a huge pet peeve of mine. The design doesn't allow the first lane closest to the building to merge if someone in the far lane finishes first. This issue was compounded by the efficiency of the order takers. The teenage boy in the far lane was much more efficient and attentive than the young lady I had in my lane. I offered my suggestion when I got to the window, that they switch. Since he could move those in the closest lane through faster allowing for a more equal flow of cars in both lanes. The lady in front of me and myself were passed multiple times by people in the far lane who arrived after us. I could see it frustrated her, me and the person behind me. Now on to the food. This will be our new replacement for Runza. The Frix mix of potatoes types is on point. All were good. I got the sliders with all the fixings and the burgers were not pre-patted frozen from a box, which was lovely. My husband and daughter got a single and double. The buns were soft a griddled nicely. They were good sized burgers and tasted good. I'd say 93/7 vs 80/20 mix. So depending on if you like greasy or less greasy burgers that may affect your review. The burgers are like Runza used to make, which we used to enjoy. We will return (probably more than we should). I am also super excited to see grilled nuggets on the menu for when I want to sprinkle in a fast food healthier option. The place was jam packed and you could see they were efficient moving people through. Kudos to them so close to opening. I can say Culver's that just opened down the street was trying to be this efficient, but missing as cars were and are consistently backed up with people coming in to ask or complain about their orders. I was so excited to have a new Burger Place opening near my house as like everyone else, I Love a Good Burger :). Unfortunately, the location on Maple Street took forever to open and when it did it was the biggest disappointment, I have ever had with a new restaurant. There are only 7 or 8 tables in the eating area making it clear that they want you to give them your money and leave. The prices are outrageous for what you get unless you like cold food and a burger you have to put on the bun yourself once you get it as the one, I received was falling off along with the toppings. Have never returned and would recommend any other Burger Restautant then this one. read more
