It is a rare occasion that I am even interested in eating at a fast food type of restaurant, but I had a friend that really wanted to try these burgers. We ordered our food to go so we could enjoy the beautiful weather and eat at Vitruvian Park. I ordered a single cheeseburger with jalapenos, my friend ordered a double cheeseburger and we split an order of fries. The service was very friendly, welcoming and we did not have to wait very long at all. The interior of the restaurant is very dated but really kind of adds to the feel of it being a restaurant that began in 1951. Unfortunately, with all the construction going on around the restaurant, there isn't much to look at other than construction. How was the food? Delicious! As I mentioned, we had the food to go and went to the park. The fries were still very hot and super crispy. The fries were definitely plenty to share between two people (two hungry people) and had a healthy seasoning of a blend which included garlic salt. The burger patties were thin (truthfully the best kind for flat top cooking), juicy and tasty. The bun to burger ratio was quite nice too, although I didn't eat all of the bun. Would like to have a protein style option and wrap it in lettuce. It is rare that you see restaurants that were established in 1951 and are still in existence. Dig the old school vibe and the food is what you expect from a place called Burger House. To boot, there were some local police officers that came in after we ordered. You know it's going to be good if the boys in blue are patrons (true story). I would definitely go back on a cheat day. Enjoy y'all! read more

Order was correct with all special requests fulfilled. The food was hot and fresh and all very delicious. The regular size fries and onion rings are both big enough for two people to share. First time trying this place. We ordered a double cheese burger and a fish filet with fries. Overpriced, fish nuggets not an actual filet, old fries and couldn't get myself to eat the fish because of the odd smell of it not to mention it looked greasy and goopy inside when I broke it. Burger was okay but pretty greasy, almost $8 for a double cheeseburger by itself. It's a shame i really wanted this place to be good. read more

I've passed by this place several times over the years, and decided to finally give it a try. The feel of the building reminded me of Burger Box or Burger Street... unfortunately the food is far from both of those (to say the least). I decided to order the cheeseburger and regular fry during my visit. Not only were the fries bland, but I had to look twice to see if there was actually any cheese on the burger. The slice of cheese was so thin that you couldn't even taste it, and the burger was loaded with lettuce to mask the very thin, very bland tasting burger patty. To add insult to injury, the cheeseburger and fry ended up being almost $7. Do yourself a favor and just go to Whataburger instead. At least it will taste great, and come with a drink for that price. read more

This is essentially Whataburger with sesame seed buns. Thin patties, well seasoned, with shredded lettuce, diced onions, two pickle slices, tomato, and mustard. It's fine. If you'd like the burger to have any heft, you should order a double at least. The fries are thin and go south fast, so eat quickly. There's nothing inherently wrong with the food, but you honestly will get the same thing at Whataburger. I'm almost convinced it's a branch of the same parent company. read more

Walked into their empty restaurant about 6:00, the person working the counter (who I assume was there to take your order) seemed totally bothered that someone was there and simply just stared at me, no words. Hamburgers are not my favorite food group, but these burgers are the best fast food burgers in the area hands down. Great sides, large portions. There will be a wait because they really do make your food when you order. I look forward to visiting again and trying the milkshakes. Went here for lunch, got a double chilli burger combo it was $13.52 which I thought was pricey. The burger was massive though and was an old school burger like the one you get at the old hood spots. It was big, greasy and delicious, nearly a 5 star burger but not quite. The fries were really good and were a lot like the fries from a chicken shack. I would go back. read more

Seeing Bob's review reminded me I have yet to review this place. Cutting to the chase I give it 4 stars as a family favorite place going back for years. Extremely consistent in quality and taste, reasonably priced, and kid friendly. We all love their chili cheese burgers with onions :-) When I want to go a *little* lighter I just get a cheeseburger. Ok, so let me preface this by saying I've actually been on a diet for over a month now successfully so the last place I need to be is a burger joint. But I figured, like any other crack addict, if I were to relapse, it better be a good one. I ordered a cheeseburger with jalapenos, fries, and a chocolate malt. The cheeseburger was delicious. A previous reviewer said the patty was rather thin and I would agree with that, especially for a single meat hamburger, BUT when you get a double meat burger, it's actually a decent size. Strangely though they put the veggies on the lower half of the bun underneath the meat which caused the patty to go sliding everywhere while I ate it. With mechanics aside, it was still a good hamburger. The french fries were very good as well. Piping hot and sprinkled with the right amount of their special seasoning. Now, the chocolate malt is something to behold, which was actually smooth, sippable, and creamy as opposed to some other joints that made their malts and shakes thick and gritty. Even though I could've just driven a block to the nearest Wendy's, the entire meal was very good and well worth the drive. I'm pretty sure I would go back, but I might try something else on the menu to see if they're consistently good across the board. read more

Burger House offers good ole' American style hamburgers & fries. There is no other place in Dallas I'd rather eat a hamburger. They are the best old fashioned style hamburgers in town and a staple to the community. Even if you aren't into hamburgers you MUST try their chocolate malts. The malts are the best summer or honestly anytime of year treat...hands down! There are a few locations around Dallas, but this one is the easiest to grab a bite quickly plus the staff is always fast to order and pleasant. Great work Burger House! read more

I love Burger House! I would rather eat here than any other fast food burger place. The other reviewer seems to compare it to a sit-down restaurant, which I don't think is a fair comparison. Now, if you compare it to McDonald's or Wendy's, I would take Burger House's cheeseburger and fries, hands down! These burgers are freshly made, while you wait, and their famous seasoned salt is in the mix. Also, unlike the other reviewer, I LOVE their fries with seasoned salt, actually just bought their largest size of seasoned salt to bring back to California with me, so I could get one of my favorite tastes of home. I have a confession... I eat here FAR too often. I live less than a mile away and I very often (FAR too often) find myself craving that seasoning!! Before you go, here are some things I think you should know:: 1.. The seasoning is amazing! They put it on their fries AND their burgers! Yum! 2.. The burgers are really good. The patty is of the thinner variety but very flavorful! If you like really meaty burgers, go for the double... or the triple, if you dare!! 3.. Their shakes are made with real ice cream. I know that Burger House has been a Dallas tradition since 1951, probably because the sign out front told me so. All kidding aside, the Hillcrest location always comes up in a discussion of best burgers in town, so I was excited to learn that a branch location opened up on Marsh in Farmers Branch (Addison accessible). Not to rip-off Fast Times at Ridgemont High but this was not '"the best burger I ever had" Brad. It is a decent burger, grilled fresh, and made with quality ingredients. The big plus was that a double cheeseburger, fries and drink was just over $6. Considering that your typical mass-produced, heat-lamp incubated meal is a mere dollar less, Burger House turns out to be the real deal. I gave it an extra star for value. The only complaint and it is minor is that they are awfully fond of their special "famous" seasoned salt. I probably could have done with a pinch or three less. Other than that, I will go back when my wallet is too empty to spring for Snuffer's. read more

A burger shouldn't need any "enhancements", but I suppose when your patty is wafer-thin (quarter-pound patty?), it needs all the help it can get. I ordered the standard cheeseburger with lettuce, extra onions, tomato and the non-standard mayo, with a side of onion rings. My man got the double-cheese with their seasoned fries. We also decided to splurge on a couple of chocolate shakes, but to our dismay, it was more Hershey's Syrup than genuine chocolate ice cream...nothing against Hershey's chocolate syrup, but I wouldn't spend for something I could easily make at home. One glance at the well-done slice of meat--no thicker than the American cheese sitting on top of it--told me all I needed to know: I would have done better grilling up my own burgers at home. The onion rings were nothing to recommend, and the fries--while cooked right--tasted more of seasoning than of potatoes. I have eaten here many times and was not originally a huge fan, but have come to appreciate this as a gold standard in burgers. First, order well. Double-Double (that's double meat, double cheese)and chocolate milk shake. The patty is thin (not my normal preference) but fresh and carrying a nice flavor. Now, not to get controversial here, but in Texas a hamburger comes with mustard, and down south they go in for mayo instead... and love Texas as I do, I'm down home on this one so I order the standard variety of toppings with mayo (see the menu). A great favorite of mine. I am a big burger snob, but I can and do differentiate between a gourmet burger from a sit down restaurant and a good fast-food burger. I'd say Burger House is my #2 best fast-food burger place, behind the almighty Whataburger :). I usually order a double cheeseburger with no tomato. The meat is seasoned very well, the meat can stand on its own, which is a big piece of criteria I use for gauging a good burger. One thing that is odd about the burgers is that while most places put the meat & cheese on the bottom bun, with veggies and toppings on top, this burger is reversed, with veggies on bottom and meat on top. Not sure I can dock any points for that though, as the burger was well-assembled and the order of assembly didn't seem to affect the taste. I'm not sure why, but the pickles seem extra special here. They are extra tangy and are a big component of the burger's flavor profile, but without overwhelming the whole burger. Overall, a very good burger that I enjoy. Another huge plus for Burger House is their fries. They season it with a proprietary mix, not 100% sure what's in it but I can detect salt, pepper, & onion powder. They season their fries (which are thin shoestring style) liberally, and the fries themselves are crisp and flavorful. Take it from a burger snob: definitely a good place to try for a great fast-food burger & awesome fries. read more

Awoke this morning with a rare craving for a burger. When this infrequent urge occurs, my usual trip will be to Whataburger, my favorite and only fast food spot for this treat. However, on this rainy day I decided to stay closer to home and drive 5 minutes down the street to BH. First time ever ventured here. Called in an order to go for a burger with all the fixings, extra mustard and grilled onions. Thought this would be faster as it was the busy noon hour. Wrong :( The drive through was 5 cars deep when I arrived. As all orders are prepared fresh, this is not your speedy pay, go to the next window and pick up, i.e. McD's. I was in line almost 15 minutes waiting for my probably already prepared food. The burger was okay; sloppy and messy like I like, not great, no Wow factor but It satisfied my taste buds. However, the onions were not grilled as I had requested. The onion rings were a big fail; left in the fryer too long, they weren't light and crispy, but overcooked and hard, (had to cut them with a knife), bland with no flavor. Ate 3 of them and tossed the rest. For a total of $5.82, I can't complain about the price except for the OR's, but doubt that I'll return. After all, it was just one meal out of an entire lifetime. I'll just make the slightly longer drive for an always reliable, consistently delicious Whataburger. read more

Went back to Burger House and i have to give them an upgrade. I had a double cheeseburger with grilled onions, and pickles, and an order of onion rings. First the onion rings. They are right up there with some of the best I've had. They were crisp and fried to a dark golden brown. The onion didn't wanna slide out of the batter, which can be pretty annoying. And of course they were seasoned with their "famous" season salt which I really like. The burger was two thin patties, nicely seasoned, and small diced griled onions. Although the patties were thin and well done, there was still some grease in there. Not dry at all. They had crispy edges, which I really like. The bun saw some time on the flat top also. Overall it was very good. I'm not sure what happened the last time I was here. But based upon this experience, the next time I have a burger craving I will probably head to Burger House. read more

I frickin love this little joint. It's somewhere in between a fast food burger and a Snuffers. I always get the chili cheeseburger, it's just the perfect combination of meat and grease with a little bit of spice thrown in. And the onion rings, oh my fricking GOD the onion rings are like delicious, onioney angels' halos, which I'm pretty sure is what halos are in heaven, delicious crispy Burger House onion rings which you can eat right off the angels' heads and they grow back immediately. And the fries, of course, don't even get me STARTED on the fries, they're... well, I guess I won't say anything since you are defiantly REFUSING to get me started, but anyway the fries are VERY seasoned-salty and crispy and VERY good. The ambience and decor is ... eff it, who would come to this place for the ambience and decor. Are you coming here on a DATE? First of all, dude, have a little class, this better not be your first date. It better not even be your fifth date. Burger House is a tenth date at best. I mean by the tenth date you don't really have to impress her anymore, you can pretty much start taking her for granted by the tenth date. If it's anytime before the tenth date, and you are jonesing for a Burger House meal, pick it up from the drive thru window, pick her up at her place, take her to Klyde Warren Park or the Calatrava Bridge or some secret little random high rise rooftop you've staked out previously, set out a nice red and white checkered tablecloth, and have her a picnic.
