Ok happy they use a liner in there foot bath but I am positive the callous sponge was not new. I won't come back for that reason. I could have applied the polish myself, with one hand tied behind my back and my eyes closed, and done a better job. As if all of this were not bad enough, they keep a price list on the wall with prices clearly laid out. Then when it comes time to pay, they charge a fee for cards. Worse yet, they tell you that the list is the children's prices, something that is written in much smaller writing on the price list! Really? If I could give a negative rating, I would do so. My nails started cracking by the next day. I was out of the country on vacation and atleast half of them broke. My pedicure was ok but nothing special about it. This has been my go-to local nail place for more than 10 years now and I've gotten great service every time! I've gotten manicures, pedicures, and even waxing and it's been great! I've brought my family and friends here as well and they've never been disappointed. They have a great variety of nail colors to choose from. I also love their massage chairs when you're getting a pedicure. They really take their time to do detailed work. The place is also really spacious which is nice. I feel like many other nail salons have their work stations and pedicure chairs so close together which makes me feel claustrophobic at times but Burke Town Nails is nicely spaced out. By far the worst customer service ever!!! I had an appointment scheduled and when I walked in everyone just looked at me and didn't greet me. One of the nail techs even brushed pass me to walk out the front door! I stood there for about two minutes until someone asked if I been there before and to fill out a small information sheet. While I'm filling out the sheet, one of the nail techs proceeds to take my temperature without asking while I'm still writing! At this point I'm beyond aggravated! Burke Town Nails is not a high end nail salon, it's a place where normal suburban people go to get their nails done. $35 for a manicure/pedicure that includes a not skimpy hand-arm and foot-leg massage. Upgrade to the spa pedicure and they amp up the leg massage and really go after your legs and feet with some salt scrub. Relaxing, quiet and friendly. I rarely make an appointment, so I've had every technician working there and it's always a good experience. TIP: buy a box. It's around $20 now and you get a caddy with your own pumice, nippers, clippers etc. that they keep in the shop. It includes a callus shaver, which they otherwise don't use, and you don't have to think about implement sterility. read more

From being a regular customer and have had my nails done by many of the nail techs over the years, I can honestly say I think the bad reviews are due to certain techs. I get my pedicures and gel manicures every single time from Tiffany, who in my opinion, does a fantastic job. And I'm a super picky client. BEST NAIL SALON IN THE NOVA AREA! All the nail techs are required by the owner to sterilize their instruments using a chemical process. Instruments are chemically cleaned and sterilized at the end of each customer, usually the nail technician properly cleans, sterilizes and stores their tools in order to prepare them for each future customer. I love this nail salon. I've gone to a few others around the area (golden nails, my nails) but Burke town has never shown me anything less than great. I usually go to Cathy. My older sister usually goes to Julie. They're both great. My palms sweat excessively. It's always been a problem I've been self conscious or worrying about. However, Cathy doesn't seem to mind so it helps me calm down. I've only gotten a pedicure there once before so I can't really write about that. When I go I usually get gel done. WORST NAIL PLACE EVER! I had a senior tech named Kim that was literally the absolute most horrible tech I've had in the 150000x I've done my nails. This is the worst nail salon I ever been to. I went there for a spa pedicure, the technician was rude and rushing through the whole time.. She hurt my toes as well and acted like nothing happened. She didn't remove the callus well, except for the nail color changed, I see no difference after the treatment. It is a spa pedicure but she did not really gave me a full message. Read a lot of reviews prior to going to this place. There are good and bad ones so i decided to give them a benefit of a doubt and went there to experience it myself. When I got there, they told me it will be 10 mins wait but it ended up being like a 30 mins, no biggy. I told them I would like to get my gel mani and regular pedi. So when it's my turn, not sure what her name was, I was so mad to even bother to ask for her name but she sits at the first desk on the right when you walk in from the door. She did my pedi without cutting my cuticle or scrub the bottom of my feet. Then comes the paint, she painted my Toe nails and my TOES... (Smh...) so comes my hands, I ask her not to use the file to file my nails she did it anyway and files my natural nails off! At this point I'm really not happy. I can deal with the toes but not my hands. On top of that, my cuticles again NOT CUT, my eighth hand looks ok, but my left....omg none of them has the same length, the shapes is all crooked, my pinky is really long and then my ring finger is really short (shortest out of ten) then the middle is not even close to being straight. Index is pin and then thumb is second shortest. Can you get the picture? So I just told her to pls just put clear on my hands instead of gel (that's what I wanted originally) so I can get out of there, I done with this place thinking to myself. So I paid and give her the tips and run out of there. I wanted to cry when I look at my nails driving home. So bad... Although the owner is very nice but I might not go back there ever! Pedicures and manicures are supposed to be relaxing. I came here on Saturday bc my usual nail spa salon was too busy . I haven't been on yelp for any reviews but after coming here -its my due diligence to warn others. I get monthly pedi and gel mani and I know how long these take. My pedi lasted like 10 mins , no massage whatsoever - I could have done it myself. That was total bs. Next, she started working on my mani and I knew that she would be terrible. This girl gave me anxiety bc if I'm going to pay for gel mani then I expect quality. She didn't do anything with my cuticles and it was just sloppy. I even had to say " don't I need to wash my hands " . She was like "oh ok go ahead " wow... I was so annoyed at that point that I canceled the gel mani. I just couldn't take her bs anymore . My anxiety level at this point is through the roof. After I paid for the bs childish work she did. I told the manager that I wasn't happy so she had another lady do my gel manicure. Kim, the older lady who did my mani/pedi was incredibly RUDE!!! My blood was almost boiling when she snapped her fingers at me for me to give her my other hand. They told me my toes were dry and I could put my sneakers on,since it was about 30 degrees out, but I had to come back the next day to have the color fixed. I had to re-trim my own cuticles at home, even though she cut too much cuticle in a couple places, and my left hand looks like it has one measly layer of polish on, while my right hand looks like it has three. The pedicure water was too cold, even after I asked for it to be warmed up. The water jets were turned off about half way through the pedicure, and I was never even OFFERED cuticle oil or lotion at any point. Not even to apply it myself. I will never come back to this horrid place. If none of that deters you, let this: those boxes you can buy for $20 with all your own personal tools? You HAVE to. They never sterilized the tools they used on me or my girlfriend before OR after. As a matter of fact, all the tools were laying around all over the place and she had to rifle through a stack of crap to find what she needed. SO DIRTY!!! and they use CHEESE GRATERS(literally) to scrape your feet yet somehome manage to leave the one single callus you point out to them. My daughter went home w/ a bloody thumb. She was under the impression that she needs a manicure which costs more than just a color change. My daughter said she does not need her skin to be trimmed, and the employee said but this is a manicure... Whoever did her nails sent her home w/. a bloody thumb, and charged her money anyway. My daughter is freshman in college, who do have that much money. If the employee is licensed and charge my daughter money too, then she should be a butcher. She should not even work on dogs... I couldn't get an appointment with my regular nail salon so a friend suggested that I try Burke Town Nails. I called the day of and made an afternoon appointment easily. I arrived on time and they took me right away. I was glad I didn't have to wait. BUT, I guess you get what you pay for... Christine was so quick and rapid with my manicure that she managed to make 4 of my cuticles bleed profusely. I have NEVER had my cuticle cut before during a manicure. She apologized and blamed it on the new tool. If she had taken her time instead of rushing this wouldn't have happened. She managed to complete my manicure and pedicure in a total of 35 minutes. This was one of my usual nail salons- after my experience today, I will not be going back. My mother in law is in town for the holidays and I thought it would be nice to go get our nails done. Before we started we talked with Kathy about what we both wanted and we got started on our pedicures. That part went well, I finished mine before my mother in law and had time to sit in the massage chair while she finished. The girl that did mine, told me she would be right back. At which point she went over to two friends and sat there for the next 45 minutes talking to them and putting designs on their nails. When she finished and they paid, she walked back over to me and let me know that her appointment had some in and she could not do my manicure!!! After I sat there forever! I waited for my mother in law to finish her manicure and then Kathy who had done her nails apologized and said she would do mine "quick". After sitting and waiting for now an hour! I did not want her to rush through my nails. I told her no, paid for the pedicure and we left. I told Kathy that I would not be coming back there, thankfully I have plenty of other choices in Burke.
