They really pack a lot into the day's events. They close down the entire Main Street and set up food and craft vendors everywhere. Ice sculptures are everywhere, including live ice carving. They also have a lot of special events like dog sledding demonstrations, colonial cooking demonstrations, a wandering band of gentlemen and gentle ladies singing old timey colonial songs, and rides in Mt. Holly's fire trucks for the kids. Parking can be tricky, especially if you're not familiar with the area. We always get there early right when the festival opens and there is plenty of street parking outside of the old prison on High Street. This is a really fun event as a great way to embrace the cold of January and enjoy time outside supporting local establishments.

Not to mention the ice sculptures that are created there. The sculptures were a lil 1D, a few were more in the 2D but it was a bit warmer that carving the ice looked really wet. Good to see the local bizs having lots of traffic in their stores. I got to go to a few stores that I normally don't frequent but have wanted to check out (Olive Oil bar, Sweet Spot, Crystal place). For a cool $3, you could sample & help judge the winners in the Chili cook off. There were sledding dogs, a petting zoo, aerial acrobatics, historical figure reenactments, & various different food trucks on hand. Weather was nice (...as it could be in Jan) & cooperated, not super cold but temps did drop as it got later in the afternoon. We had a chance to sit outside and enjoy our funnel cake (thank you, Boy Scouts!). Lots of foot traffic up & down High Street/Mill Street. Good vibe overall. Overall, we had a great time @ the festival. They extended it a lil further down past the MIll Race shops and on the side streets as well. Good amount of people who came out this year. Parking stinks & you have to circle round a few times if you wait later to go, like what we did. Luckily, parking is free in Mount Holly. Great event for families & even just your friends. But local is the way to go. I look forward to going again next year & enjoying even more vendors!

I don't have much to compare it to, but all I know is we had a blast! It was raining steadily all day, which did absolutely nothing to dampen the spirits of everyone there. Tons of hardy people were still wandering the grounds, many in incredible and elaborate costumes. Everyone was in such a great mood, it was hard not to be swept up in all of it. The fair was enormous, with something to see and do around every corner. Seven stages with official shows, plenty of games, live animals, a blacksmith demonstration, tons of food, etc. My son particularly loved getting to throw spears and daggers, as well as a free whip lesson. We happily wandered the grounds for several hours and easily forgot about the miserable cold and wet weather. Can't wait for next year!

Maybe it would've been better if the weather was nice but I still think it could've been a better experience - definitely buy your tickets online ahead of time, I bought mine at the door and it was 30 not 25 - plan ahead of time. Apparently they have different acts every weekend and some weekends have celebrity performers. If I knew about this ahead of time I would've gone 2nd weekend and the ticket price would've been worth it - feel free to dress up as extra as you want, honestly seeing all the costumes was my favorite part of the whole experience - food is overpriced as per usual - most of the acts were disappointing but that made have been partially due to the rain - it's mostly a fair for vendors to sell costumes and whatnot

There are crafters, vendors, food, and definitely plenty of drinks. The cornerstone of this event in my opinion is the costume contest. People go all out for this and it's really a sight to see! Every year it seems to attract more and more visitors. For this reason, I hope they get better at accommodating more visitors as it took an inordinate amount of time this year to get a drink. But it is still a blast and shouldn't be missed by the Halloween enthusiasts in the greater Philadelphia area!

If you're on a date, you'll probably want to make a reservation at the spooky Robin's Nest Restaurant at the opening of the outdoor festival, before meandering through the creepy, dark streets brimming with interesting characters. If you're on a friend date, you may want to avoid the intimate restaurant and head straight to the beer garden, the creepy teddy bear shop, or the ghost hunter store. Or, of course, the VooDoo Bar. Like the others have said, do NOT bring your kids here. You're ruining it for everyone when you do that crap. Two downfalls (aside from the kid infestation) of the event: -Lack of bathrooms -Lack of food vendors I stood in a line for some beautiful porta potties for what felt like a really-really long time. The guy behind me in line kept drunkenly yelling at the people in the stalls... as if they really wanted to take their time and enjoy themselves in there or something. After finally relieving myself, I then spent an absurd amount of time waiting for some chicken tenders. Get some more food vendors and bathroom options, Witches Ball, and you're golden. See you next year!

Some things have changed in there. It was very crowded as usual. They have great little kiosk in there with baked goods candies pickles donuts you name it! I just didn't have any more bags or money to try it but I will the next time I come because I will make it have to maybe come here at least once a month and if you don't know, get to Stoltzfus BBQ! The line is still wrapped around the place people will wait in line for at least 20 to 25 minutes to get barbecue from this place. They have chicken sausages, ribs, When I tell you, you won't be disappointed. great barbecue! They offer different sizes in their sizes are OK. Yesterday I tried their coleslaw for the first time and I did not like it. The lemonade is good. FYI, you can call ahead before you get there and pick up your barbecue without having to wait in line. Overall, this place is awesome. bring bags, pack patience and wear comfy shoes!! You definitely will leave with some great items and across the parking lot they have a place with produce. you can buy plants also. Enjoy

It was freezing in there to the point I did not think that they had heat on at all. It was hard to even concentrate on the performance with how cold I was. The first performance had blankets as theatrical props and I thought about getting up and borrowing them to help me get through the other two acts. The space is huge and I am sure difficult and expensive to heat and cool. It is such a shame as the talent and concept was spot on. I hope that they can figure this out. My wife and I drove three and a half hours to take part in Miss Lilly's Séance, three and a half hours to drive back home, and it was well worth the drive. Miss Lilly's Séance Parlor is located in Mill Race Village in Mt Holly NJ. It makes no bones about it being a theatrical recreation of a séance. If you're going with the intention of contacting dearly departed Aunt Boo, forget about it. But, if you're looking for some scares, a fun evening out and don't want to drive down to Disney World to see The Haunted Mansion, Miss Lilly's Séance Parlor is the ticket you should seek. You need to make reservations to attend the séance. Seating is limited to ten people per showing. The séance is run on Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Don't be late, because show times begin promptly at the times noted. Parking is available in a lot adjacent to the house that Miss Lilly's Séance is held in. Spots should be available since most of the shops in the village close at 6pm and the first séance is at 7pm. The evening begins with you waiting on the narrow porch of what was once an abandoned house. Thomas Greenfield, the show's creator, comes out for the greeting and tells you that in a few moments the door will open and you will be invited in. You enter what looks like the inside of an abandoned building and you're invited to take a seat on the couches and chairs available in the living room. The show has begun. What happens next would be a spoiler to those looking to experience this for themselves, so I won't describe exactly what happens between the walls of Miss Lilly's seance. Instead I'll say that the experience is like being on an interactive dark ride (for those that know what a dark ride is). It's also like being the actor on the set of a séance movie and instead of the special effects being done post-production via green screen and CGI technology, the special effects are happening in real time all around you. Don't be afraid to interact and be a part of the evening. It's a thrilling ride unlike anything you've experienced before. It's open year-round. Make your reservations soon, because once word gets out about how cool this is, they'll be booked weeks, if not months in advance.
