The food was excellent! It was a tad pricey I would say but perhaps that's because of the location. We tried the tea leaf salad - yum! Maybe could have had a little more lemon juice but was really very good. The samosas were good - reminded me more of the Indian style of samosas rather than the kind I have had at other Burmese places. The beef kebab and dry fried green beans were soooooo good I wanted to lick the serving dishes. I happened to stumble upon it with my friend and remembered loving the one in San Francisco so we decided to give this location a shot as well. The inside of the restaurant was very welcoming and clean. We had arrived around brunch time and found out that they only had the brunch menu at this location, which was really neat. The food was tasty, except for the fact that the noodles came with chicken instead of shrimp. This leads me to what made the experience meh. When I think back to the my first time trying Burma Superstar, it's ridiculously impressive how far they've come. From their singular, original location on Clement Street in SF, through various iterations of offshoots and expansions, their family tree of restaurants has now grown into the double digits under a growing number of names. Now, after spreading across the entirety of SF, as well as into the East Bay, it's awesome to see that they're now expanding their footprint towards the South Bay! Compared to the homely decor and cozy vibes of the original Burma Superstar, the newest Burma Love is adorned with a far trendier concept that's even fitted with a fully stocked bar. Thankfully, though, they're still mostly the same where it matters the most - the menu. Having already taken a peek at it online before coming here, we weren't surprised to see that the lineup of the lunch menu is slightly different and narrower than the dinner menu. However, there was still plenty for us to choose from and most of their dishes appear on both, including staples like their Tea Leaf Salad, Mohinga, Samosa Soup, and the Burmese Fried Chicken friends had recommended to me! -- THE LITCHI EXPRESS - Hangar One Rose Vodka, St. Germaine, Lemon Juice, Aquafaba, Lychee-Dragonfruit & Rosewater Syrup, Lychee Fruit, Rose Crystals...$18 I don't usually go for martinis, but this one was pretty tasty. The chicken was very moist and the sauce had a nice punch, albeit a little heavy on tomato. As for the noodles, there was a good amount of it, but I wish it had more of a chewy bite to it. -- B.F.C. - Burmese Fried Chicken, Sesame Seeds, Sweet Heat...$26 My friend felt like this was a bit Americanized, but I'm not going to lie - I thought this was great! The chicken was still slightly crispy despite the sauce on it and I liked how there was just a touch of heat. Plus, the portion was HUGE! In fact, it was so generous, we couldn't even get close to finish this. -- CHILI-GARLIC PRAWNS - Onions, Arbol Chili, Jalapenos, Thai Basil, Koji Rice, Garlic Chips...$27 While there wasn't anything "bad" about this dish, it was easily my least favorite dish of our meal. Back story, I was put as an events chair at our school this year and I was responsible for an annual family dance (adults with children ages ranging from 4-13) at our school. The staff here is very friendly and professional, they quickly greet you as soon as you walk in, make sure to get you a table in a timely manner and almost immediately a server was there to bring water and take our drink orders. Top notch customer service! The menu wasn't too big but there were a nice variety of items to choose from. Since there were about 7-8 of us we decided to order a bunch of appetizers and small plates to start. We ordered the Laphet Tea Leaf Salad, Roti Platha, Rainbow Spring Roll, Crispy Calamari, Potato Samusas, Dry Fried String Beans and Jasmine Rice. All of this alone could have been the whole meal. My favorites were the potato samusas which were so good. They were cooked nicely, crispy on the outside and the curry potato and veggie filling was so full of flavor. The dry fried strings beans were perfect, they had a nice crisp to them and had a ton of garlic flavor. I also enjoyed the roti platha, the roti was nice and chewy and the curry went perfectly with it. For my main course I went with the Bone-In Short Rib Curry. This came with roasted leeks, fingerling potatoes, cipollini onions and thumbelina carrot. The presentation for this short rib was amazing, it was served alongside the bone. The meat was divine, it was melt in your mouth tender. I have never had short rib that was that tender and full of flavor. The curry was different, definitely not what I expected but it was good and had a nice flavor and went very well with the short rib and the vegetables that accompanied it. This is something that I would definitely order again!! The portion size didn't look too big but it actually was a lot of meat and I still had a lot left over to take home. The 1 star review is strictly for the host/hostess/manager of the restaurant. I had one of the worst mother's day experience at this restaurant. We had made a reservation for 7 people at 7pm. 5 of us showed up at the restaurant at 6:55pm and the first thing the host tells us when we check in at the front desk is that they were going to cancel our reservation sincet here was no card on file. I am not sure why this was not notified while making the reservation when we called up to make the reservation. As we were seated, the hostess/manager asked us if the remaining 2 guests were arriving soon. We told her that they were parking. We ordered appetizers and drinks in the meantime. At 7:05 the hostess comes and asks again if the other 2 guests are arriving anytime soon to which we told her again that they told us that they were parking and should be arriving soon. To which she replies that they are taking a really long time to park and that we had to vacate the table by 8:30pm for the next reservation. Most decent restaurants have at least a 10-15 mins grace period for the guests, that too when no one has showed by yet. Here we were 5 people already seated and yet we got an extremely rude treatment. We came here only because it was highly recommended to use by friends for its food. We are never going back to this resuarant to be insulted yet again and I will be warning all of our friends and colleagues about it as well. read more

Burma Love is a nicely decorate restaurant with mostly good food and friendly service. We enjoyed the Tiffin Set Lunch menu, especially chicken curry and chicken kebab. The short-rib curry was a bit gamey for us, almost felt like lamb, but the kitchen confirmed it was beef. The Burmese milk tea was a bit watery (if you're expecting something similar to a creamy Thai Milk Tea). I was a bit surprised to see a 30% large party fee for our family, which consisted of six adults and two children (both under the age of 5). A popular Bay Area spot for Burmese eats -- one of a few locations sprinkled around the north Bay. The ambiance is nice, would make a good spot for a team dinner or celebrations. IMO the quality's gone a bit downhill -- the food is decent, but feels a bit pricey for what it is. My personal favorite was the Roti with Honey Butter, plus the Fiery Tofu was good. First things first - this meal was ABSOLUTELY delicious. We have been to the San Francisco location, but we're so happy to see Burma love at a mid peninsula location. The ambiance was very nice - comfortable chairs, nice finishes within the space, and the bar had a lot of options. The service was amazing - we got great recommendations from our server which did not disappoint. There was a large number of us; 10. Despite the large number, we never went without water or hot tea refills. We ate family style & most of it was so good. I can't remember the name of the fluffy, croissant style bread you can order to dip in the noodle dishes & curry, but it is a MUST! We ordered 3 extra orders. Another must get is their tea leaf salad. Another thing we ordered an extra of. The curry was ok, but I've had better & for the price, I would not order it again. Same with the crab cakes & egg rolls. They were ok, but with so many good noodle dishes, I wouldn't waste my money. I would definitely recommend coming! read more
