I heard about Burning Bridges Antique market from a family member and independently from a hotel pamphlet and decided to take my parents along with me for a visit after dining at Hinkles. The market is in an old brick building with plentiful parking. As many have noted-it is massive. There is just so much to see on all the three floors-there really is something for everyone here. Glasses, plates, toys, Christmas decor, old electronics, telephones, and so, so much more. We had a wonderful time exploring, and I picked up a few things I had long been wanting. I'm not an expert in antique pricing, but it all seemed reasonable to me. I definitely plan to visit again when in Pennsylvania. Confession: Antiques stress me out. I'm a minimalist in my core. Less is more. With that in mind, I thought I'd not enjoy Burning Bridge Antiques Market, but I left a fan. Inside a massive brick building in downtown Columbia, PA, three floors are filled with tons of treasures from records to clothes to toys. You can easily spend hours browsing each floor. I went there regularly since it opened. Now there's a dealer there that sells a lot of figural cast iron. On the left side first floor not the one in the middle. Their prices are 5 times what they normally sell for. A duck bottle opener you can buy any day on ebay for 25.00 or 30.00 is $135.00. The seller is a Moron. For that reason I quit going there. I'm sure the other dealers are more reasonable. read more

Something about this place lacked a certain charm and hospitality that Amish country is known for. Immediately before even entering, patrons are greeted with a sign stating: "CHILDREN under 21 must be accompanied by a parent." Excuse me? Last I checked 18-yr-old are technically adults and fit to die for this country. But, whatever, your house, your rules. Good luck enforcing it. Then later in the visit I needed to use the commode and, again, before entering the loo I'm greeted with another sign: "RESTROOMS ARE FOR CUSTOMERS ONLY!" Ok... Great. I mosey on in and sashay to the urinal and, again, right above it: "RESTROOMS ARE FOR CUSTOMERS ONLY!" 0_0 In addition to those signs the are a multitude of signs warning patrons they're being surveilled by hidden camera. I think somebody likes to make signs. Listen, none of these are egregiously catastrophic transgressions but they just don't lend to a business conducive environment. Beyond the signs, the store itself was a typical "Antique Mall" setup with thousands of items displayed by dozens of vendors across three floors. The displays seemed a bit ramshackle and the items were the typical stuff one finds at antique shops. Overall this was just an ok place to visit. If you're in the area then def check it out. These places are always fun and you can't go wrong poking around for hidden treasures. Just don't expect to feel welcome doing it. P.S. I love this place. I feel like they have an incredible selection of random objects and collectibles-- from glass items, to paper, military, furniture, lighting and architectural pieces. The place is three levels and I feel like you need to dedicate a couple of hours if you want to even get close to seeing everything. While it seems like there are many objects that have been here for a long time, I discovered enough new things to keep me interested as I wandered about the store. Lovely selection of vintage bags and glassware I've collected since my teens; however, staff are abhorrent. Once I started carrying a bag I planned to buy, I saw a woman point at me and speak to a man. The man had already been following me about the store. I then walked upstairs to the third level where I continued to see the same man almost in every booth I entered. I selected another bag and a glass dish. The original woman actually came upstairs to aggressively suggest I allow her to store the items behind the register. Husband was also shopping and holding several items and was not asked to leave his behind the register, nor was he followed. If you don't look 100% Mayo you're going to be followed. read more

One of our favorite antique shops and a MUST when we are in the area! The building itself is awesome, with spacious aisles and three floors to explore. Something for everyone! They have many glass cases, plus items on shelves & in booths. All price ranges. The people that work there are great too... helpful and like to joke around and have fun. You do have to wait quite a while for help getting into the cases on the main floor when it's busy (the key holders are running around), so bring your patience... they're working hard! They have a decent selection as do many stores, the prices are not great compared to other antique markets in Columbia. The biggest problem is, if you decide to buy something, you're going to have a 15-20 minute wait for each customer ahead of you in line. The people that work there are glacially slow and seem to walk around in a state of perpetual confusion. I have never been in a place with such poor checkout procedures. It does not appear to be from lack of staff as there are always a cadre of senior citizens standing behind the counter who are apparently on a daily outing from the local retirement home or dementia ward. They just don't know what they are supposed to do and don't know how to do anything quickly. In fact, if you do buy there, be careful you are not double billed as they constantly lose track of what they are doing in the middle of a transaction. On several occasions I have walked out without items I would like to have purchased because there were already 3 patrons at the front counter and I didn't want to stand around waiting for a half hour. There are plenty of other Columbia antique places like Tollbooth, Bootleggers, Rivertowne, Partners, etc...... shop and buy at those places instead of wasting time at Burning Bridge. read more

Ive been here twice with nearly a year between visits. They have a good size parking lot on the side of the building. Inside there's three floors of all kinds of stuff. I like looking at the vinyl records, toys, and historical items. The vinyl selection is borderline budget bin stuff. If you're looking to maximize your Barbera Streissand collection you'll strike it rich here. Not a ton of stuff that really caught my eye, but plenty to browse through. I honestly saw quite a bit I saw here nearly a year ago. Some stuff seemed fairly priced while other stuff was overpriced junk. Place is pretty clean and the old building is neat. My wife and I live going to antique, so we decided to check out Burning Bridges. The place is deceptively huge with three floors of booths to check out. There is a ton of different antiques to buy here. You can find furniture, old toys from 20s to the 90s, vinyl, beer signs, jewelry, etc. You are bound to not see everything since how large it is. Take a second walk around just to make sure you didn't miss anything. I feel you can find some sort of treasure here, and some of the prices aren't too high. I bought a dresser from them they told me one wheel was loose. They had a mentally challenged person deliver it and i was nice enough to come out and help him carry it in and all the wheels but one fell off the feet. Then within 5 mins i had tried to open the drawers 3 knobs fell off that werent attached but were at the shop. Then i noticed the second to top drawer was crooked like not straight. I had to lean it foreward with all my weight to get it open and found a broken piece of the railing inside the drawer. This was another thing that worked perfect at the burning bridge antique store. Obviously they dropped it moving it out of the shop or something happend between me and my wife looking at it and getting it delivered. I will never shop at burning bridge again and i take pride telling my friends and family not to shop there. We paid 195 for the dresser now we have to pay to have it hauled to the dump. Really neat antique store. It's in a nice old building with tin ceilings. There is a good variety of stuff. The first floor and basement are pretty much all actual antique and old stuff. The second floor is a mix of antiques, decorator stuff and just random things. Prices vary, but most were reasonable. Great environment, great store. Excellent antique mall! I visited here about two months ago as I was returning from a trip a little north of Reading. This mall had lots of interesting and high quality collectibles and antiques through which to browse. I spent about 2 hours there and didn't even have time to visit another place in the same town I had hoped to see. I appreciated too the way this antique mall was actually open on a Tuesday. There are many places in this part of Pennsylvania that close on Mondays, Tuesdays or both and that can get annoying. I also found the guy with whom I spoke some, while he rang up my purchase, to be both knowledgeable and friendly. Sometimes, too often maybe, people working at antique malls are neither of these things. It was particularly refreshing that he was so nice since I was there in the store a little after closing time. read more

I've been tooling around the Pennsylvania countryside for the past week and a half and this by far is the best antique mall that I have found. Three floors of fabulous finds in a lovely building to boot! Lots of quality pieces in all price ranges. Love this store. Some of the vendors price things a bit high but there are quite a few well priced finds as well. I really enjoy visiting this shop whenever I'm visiting nearby York. It's HUGE and one can easily spend over an hour browsing here. I appreciate that they have restrooms and drinks available for purchase - shopping can be exhausting. This is a great antique mall in a very quaint little own. The merchandising is top-notch and there's always a really great assortment of just about everything including lots of great mid-century modern, a personal favorite. Overall, the prices are generally fair. Like most antique malls, you'll find occasional big differences in price for the same items from one stall to another. Take the time to check out the whole place for this reason alone. They also have AWESOME window displays! This is the spot to get your "Antiques On". 3 massive floors of so many different antiques, collectiables, and items of interest. We loved it here and picked up a few items along the way. The selections are so diverse and there are many sales gong on all the time. Housewares, tools, yard items, paintings, postcards, books, lamps, dishes, sweing, you name it, you can probably find it here. Staff is very knowledgable and helpful. Make this a stop while in PA Dutch country. There are stairs to climb, but nothing to crazy. read more

I was offered 15% off my purchase by the dealer, however all of the sudden upon check out, first the store people did not even want to acknowledge the discount, then they proceeded to lower the discount first agreed upon originally, then they decided to add an additional up charge because I wanted to use debit, I have never heard of a place where there's an upcharge for debit. In my book this translates to greed and misleading customers into paying more than they anticipated. Had they been transparent from the beginning I would have been a repeat client. Also very strange, they have employees "volunteering" there, I have never heard of a for-profit antique store having such a thing. Just goes to show how far a place compromises good practice ethics for their profit margin. read more
