I would say it is more of a 3.5 stars. The burritos are HUGE and come with chips and salsa. Price ranges from around $10-$14 for the burritos. We ordered two burritos -1. California - steak burrito with fries, guacamole, sour cream , cheese and pico. 2. Grilled Chicken Burrito- chicken, garlic rice, beans, pico, and sour cream. The Grilled Chicken burrito was more flavorful than the Grilled California burrito. If you want a more traditional burrito go with the Grilled Chicken. The California wasn't bad but I felt like it was missing rice and the fries were good but rice would have been better. The cashier was friendly and genuinely helpful. There were a few misses. 1. Some of the chicken was hard/rubbery in the grilled chicken burrito. 2. They asked if I wanted red or green salsa so I said one of each since we had two burritos. They charged me an extra $1 without notifying me. I wish he had said, "Oh that's extra do you want it?" 3. The ice doesn't work in the ice machine so you have to get it from the cashier. 4. The vibe of the sitting area is clean, but a little sad and empty. I think it is more a of a take out place.

The service was decent overall. I ordered the carne asada burrito at Burrito District along with a mango agua fresca. The burrito was alright, though I wasn't a fan of the green sauce. Overall, the food was just okay, but it's still a solid option if you're looking for a quick bite.

One of the things I miss about CA - Cali Mexican food!I was so excited when I stumbled upon this place. They had a drive thru option and cashier was super friendly. Menu had a lot of options and I ordered the California burrito of course. I received my giant little baby with mild and hot salsa which also came with a side of chips. I wish the gave me a knife to cut into this bad boy though. I dug in and my taste buds were deeply disappointed sigh. Unfortunately it was not very flavorful. The tortilla was spot on, but the meat tasted like no seasoning. The salsas also lacked heat and flavor. This is a miss for me.

Burrito district has a LOT of menu options. I opted for the rolled chicken tacos and cheese fries. The portions are large. The rolled tacos came with a side of refried beans and rice. The tacos themselves were okay. Not sure why they top rolled tacos with cheese and lettuce, as all the toppings just fall off lol. They were a little dry. The bowl of cheese fries were HUGE and my favorite part of my order. I would go again, I just wouldn't get the rolled tacos. It was decent. With their vast menu I am sure I'd find something I loved. The offer fresh drinks as well, such as horchata. No one was inside when we ate here so it was peaceful.

The staff were nice, the restrooms were clean, and they have a nice selection. However, don't be fooled by the photos. My boyfriend and I thought the food was pretty disgusting. We tried the surf and turf nachos and the meaty quesadillas. We both ate less than half of our meals. The nachos have game day quality cheese and some sauce that I wasn't familiar with. I really tried to power through them, but couldn't. The quesadilla was so greasy he got an instant tummy ache. If you still decided to try this place. I'd get a burrito.

The only thing I ever have missed about California is the burritos and the Cali Mexican food. California as a whole, blah. The Mexican food. 10 stars all day long. They are pretty true to the Cali burritos I remember in my time living in the communist republic of California. My only thing is, the meat just needs to be cut a bit more. The pieces of steak are big. Which is delicious, but doesn't remind me of a majority of the Cali burritos I've had. That being my only gripe. The burrito was put together well. Tortilla is definitely on point, and the presentation is good. The food though.... Man it's incredible. I am so glad they brought this here. It's all the best possible foods you could want in Cali, Carne Asada Fries, Cali Burrito, surf & turf burrito. All have been incredible foods I've tried here. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. Please build one in Katy, please, please, please!!! We need this closer than a 40 min drive from Katy. While I still will drive here. Because it's not in commiefornia, if you do plan to open a second, please come to Katy. Service was excellent, the staff is kind, and they seem to know that all I want is a Cali burrito Restaurant is clean, small seating, but that's what brings it back to that small town Cali vibe while going to get monster Cali burritos on a Friday night.

No Nacho Cheese but plenty of unmelted shredded cheese.

Since I left the west coast, I've been searching for a place that does Carne Asada burritos the right way. This place did not disappoint! It was the best burrito I've had in probably 20 years. Happened to find the store while my mom wanted food from the local next door, I'm so glad I got food from here instead. I'm a huge burrito lover so I got the Lone star burrito (I think that's what it's called) Let me tell you I was starving it was soo good. So flavorful, and the portions are big so the price is reasonable. the store is a little bit far away from where I live but if I'm ever nearby, I'll be coming back for sure! read more

This place reminds me of home!! Their fish taco plate takes me back to San Diego every...single...time. Food: My husband had their Aztec and kids had the California burrito. My son asked "is their fries in this?!?" Yes, yes there is with Carne Asada (like Nana's house).The food was flavorful, filling and warm when we got home (20 minute drive). Service: The staff was very attentive and helpful. The owner took his time answering all of my husbands questions and provided recommendations for possible substitutions. ok, so we moved here from California just over 1 1/2 years ago and haven't found any good Mexican food. This place is authentic Cali-Mex, owner is from San Diego. he makes Carne asada burritos etc. so good and the burritos are HUGE. He makes "rolled tacos'" just like back home. If you are from Cali and miss good Mexican food, you have to try this place. It's sooo good !!! read more

Everything from this place is amazing! I recommend getting a large horchata with any entree you order. They make the horchata from scratch and with one sip you are sure to be in heaven. I've had one item from every category of food they offer (burritos, flautas, quesadillas, etc.) and they're all great, but for the first time going, a burrito is definitely the best choice. I hope whoever reads this actually goes and tries this delicious food because this place is a gem that shouldn't be hidden read more

Went through the drive thru, food was hot and fresh! I have been searching for a place that serves real California burritos, with the right ingredients! I ended up ordering carne asada fries instead of the burrito since the California burrito said it came with grilled steak (not carne asada) not sure if they're considering them the same, but either way, the food was delicious. Their fries are amazing, their carne asada is flavorful and perfect, not chewy or dry. I can't wait to try their Baja fish tacos! I will definitely be back. read more

Kind of easy to miss since it faces north for northbound traffic on Kuykendahl Rd. It also has a drive thru, which is unusual for a burrito and taco restaurant in the fast casual category. This is my first time ordering from them. I got two specialty burritos, an al pastor taco, and a caramel churro to go. Unfortunately, I was delayed heading home 30 minutes away, so I wasn't able to eat at the peak of warmth. The burritos have garlic rice, not Mexican rice, so that's the most noticeable difference between north Mexican cuisine and Baja-Cali Mexican food. One of my burritos had beer battered Alaskan pollock fish, which I've never had in a burrito before. Pretty good! The Al pastor taco was excellent! I'd go back just for that. The churro was delicious. I might have been talking to the owner and he was very friendly. My biggest knock on the place is that I would likely not want to dine in. I'm not a fan of sitting on metal barstools for more than a few minutes. I think that it could get loud easily too. Otherwise, I would give this 5 stars. I might try their breakfast tacos in the future. read more

I feel like if there were some tweaks it could be really good. First there was no AC so it was hot af in the restaurant. Second, guacamole. Places should only be allowed to serve fresh made guac. It was runny and had so much of a citrus flavor that's all I could taste, like it was made a day or two in advance. Third, the fish on the fish tacos. I was really hoping for a delicious fish taco but my fish was over cooked, fatty and tough. I couldn't even eat it. I wish I would've taken a pic because it didn't even look appetizing at all. They did get two stars cause the staff was great and the carne asada was on point. Definitely the best thing I tasted there by far. read more

First time coming to this restaurant and I ordered the chorizo and egg burrito. It comes with a side of chips and salsa and the burrito was a good size, enough to make anyone full. The manager and owner were really nice and welcoming, and the dining room was very clean. They also have a drive thru and military discount. Serves breakfast (10-11am), lunch and dinner. I've been driving past this burrito place as it's been under construction the past good couple or so months. And seeing a burrito spot under construction so close to my house got me really really excited. Because finally a burrito spot is within five minutes of my house and there's a wine bar right next door. Freaking amazing idea man like 10/10 idk who's idea it was but y'all are my people. So you can see that I'm juiced to go here once it's finally open right. I go thru the drive thru and order me a California burrito. Finally the moment that my body had been so desperately yearning for had finally arrived. I get the burrito in hand and it feels like it's got some heft to it (not quite as hefty as a chipotle burrito tho) excitedly I rip the foil off much like a child opening a PlayStation on Christmas morning. And finally there it is. I take a bite and suddenly my PlayStation had turned into some hand me down socks. Instead of these beautiful burrito I was expecting I get this meh burrito. Would I be wrong to call it bad? Or gross? Yes, but to call it delicious? No. Or scrumptious? No. Satisfying? Kinda (even a meh burrito is still a burrito like cmon man) but needless to say it was disappointing. It was semi luke warm with unmelted cheese and just meh all around. Their chips were fire but their salsa was watery & had no flavor. I'm sad that what I had been looking forward to for so long was so mediocre but such is life. TLDR; It's a meh burrito place with bland salsa. Big disappointment. read more

Mannnnnn where do I start? I got the California burrito and that thing was MASSIVE!! Fries on the inside were super crunchy! Steak was super moist. You could tell the pico and salsas are made fresh, along with their tortillas. You get a side of chips with your burrito and they were SUPER fresh. I also got a Jaimica agua Fresca. Please don't just drive by this little spot, stop in a get you some good food! read more

Decided to check this place out today after hearing about it from Nick Rama's Facebook group. The food was AMAZING ! We ordered a few different things to taste them and everything we ordered was delicious. Whomever was there working (male with glasses) has amazing customer service as well - he was running around like crazy but was super attentive and thanked everyone for coming in. He even gave us 2 churros after our meal to try. We will for sure be back to try other thing on the menu. Loved loved it !! read more

This place is absolutely amazing. If you havent eaten here, you are doing yourself a disservice. My normal go to is their Surf N' Turf Burrito. You can order anything on their menu and fall in love with it. It's the kind of food you catch yourself dancing a little while you eat it because it's that good. Great food and great service. Supporting a small bussiness has never tasted this good. read more

I stopped by Tavo's this past weekend and ordered my usual. My meal consisted of a queso, a kids plate, fajitas for two and a Diet Coke. When I went to pay, I was a little surprised at the cost. With gratuity, my bill came to almost $100. To me, this was overpriced for a neighborhood restaurant. If you're cool with overpriced neighborhood food, the staff are friendly and attentive. The place is clean and I've never been there to find it overly crowded. There are a few options in close proximity with more favorable pricing.

This place has become my most recent go-to when that little voice says - "pssst....Dave....Dave....i know you hear me....you want fajitas." Admittedly, I hear that voice a lot. In any case, I usually order the fajitas. They give you a decent quantity that tastes great. The meet is tender and flavorful and those tortillas had me at hello. I love this stuff! My son elects to go for the cheese enchiladas. I don't have to ask him how much he likes them because is a super picky eater and this is the one place where he actually cleans his plate. The margaritas are solid as well and when you glance around the restaurant, you'll see them on most tables. This place is a well oiled machine. There are plenty of staff and they all work unison to bring drinks / chips / salsa / refills / orders / food -- and that food usually comes out before I can feel guilty for eating chips, salsa, and queso. I found this trick that works for me. Since I 100% of the time feel guilty for leaving the place feeling so full, I started parking on the other end of the parking lot. This allows my to burn off 2.7 calories of the food that just ate so I feel 2.7 percent less guilty. On a serious note - this place is the real deal. While some of my previous favorites have either closed down or gone downhill a bit - Julio's has remained strong. ¡Salud!

Unfortunately, we had some issues with our server, lots of miscommunication and a huge language barrier. So this was actually the second time I was there. The first time, the wait was extremely long and they didn't even actually put in my order so I didn't get to try the food. Since that happened on their first day of opening, I thought that I should've just given it a second try. When ordering our food, the person asked us twice to check the order and there were mistakes both times. Then we specifically said no cheese for one of the burrito and we told the person twice just to make sure. We got our food (pretty fast this time though), drove home and I had a few bites, then what did I find? CHEESE!!!! I mean, seriously?! Even on the receipt, it says No Cheese and they still put cheese in it. This is just extremely frustrating. Now my dinner will just be rice, beans and fries with a stomachache from the cheese in those few bites. So if you have any dietary requirements, make sure to double or triple check your food. I can't comment on the actual food since I didn't really get to taste it either time. Don't think I will ever go back. read more
