Burro's grilled cheeses had been hyped up for a long time, so I was super excited to visit the food truck on Rainey Street! I got the waylon & willie which was aged cheddar, Gouda, caramelized onions and pepperoncinis all grilled between two pieces of sourdough bread. The sandwich was pretty solid. It was grilled to a perfect crisp and the onions and pepperoncinis complemented the gooey cheese. However my favorite part of the meal was dipping the grilled cheese into the habanero yellowbird sauce. The sauce was super spicy but still retained lots of flavors and really added to the salty/savory feel of these. It wasn't the best sandwich or grilled cheese I've had, but it's definitely up there. Overall the food truck had a dope vibe and long lines (def worth the wait)!

They really do have some delicious and unique grilled cheese. The Mac n cheese has some spice to it so be careful. They have a brisket grilled cheese that sounds delicious, but unfortunately I was unable to try. They ran out of brisket and cookies the second time I went for lunch. They can be a 5 star food truck if they upped their customer service and time. The first time was such an awful experience, because after we ordered they completely forgot about us and did not give us our order until 45 minutes later. We went up to the guy at the window he said he had no idea we had ordered, because they had changed shifts and the other guy didn't tell him. Sounds like they need a better system in place for their orders. The second time they forgot about my sandwich and all of our drinks. I went up to ask about my sandwich and the girl said, "oh it is yours I thought I had just made an extra one". So instead of making a new one because that one was sitting there for over 20 minutes she gave me the cold one. Anyhow I will go back, because they are good. However if their customer service continues to suck I will not return and I will most likely rate them a 1.

Who doesn't love grilled cheese? We were lucky enough to have Burro stop in during work. I know this location may not be the exact food truck since they are pretty mobile but I'm sure it's similar. Burro Cheese Kitchen has awesome grilled cheese sandwiches. You can see the workers in the food truck grilling the cheese over a flame before they add any toppings so the cheese is extra melted. If you're in the mood for a hot, grilled cheese then I would recommend checking this out.

Regular grilled cheese with fig butter ahhhh

Burro cheese kitchen is a grilled cheese specialty in a dusty "food truck trailer park" area in Rainey St. It's great choice to have ANYTHING cheesy as a drunchie choice, so I'm glad Burro is an option here. We stopped by after an afternoon of drinking. The sucky part is that there are no umbrellas at the picnic tables for customers, but the space shared by all of the food trucks is large enough for all party sizes. Burro is the first truck you see on your left when you walk in. Their menu is pretty standard with obvious favorites like mac and cheese grilled chz, but I went with their Via 205, which is a three-chz grilled cheese with balsamic fig jam. I wish there was a bit more fig jam on mine to get the contrast, but it was very tasty regardless, and the bread was perfectly buttered and grilled. I wish they would include a little extra love with the sandwich. Something simple like a pickle or even half a bag of chips (or something!!) would be nice. I was torn between getting a sando here or next door at the lobster truck, because they had a lobster grilled cheese which sounds like it's worth a try next time. Anyhow, service here was fast and simple. The food took about 10 minutes to make, which seems like a long time when you're baking out in the sun. Standard grilled cheese food truck yay!

I got the Long Tall Texan and it was so good! It has sourdough, aged cheddar, brisket, and a Serrano pineapple sauce. The sauce isn't spicy though, which I made sure to clarify before because I can't handle spice. It's all delicious and would eat here again!

Food truck located in the parking lot of Hi-Sign Brewing's new location on Shady Lane. Friendly staff. Order was completed in 10 minutes. The grilled cheese was very cheesy and tastes great! I really enjoyed the sourdough used for the sandwich; it was grilled perfectly. There is also a bottle of habanero sauce at the pickup window that you can spice up your sandwich if you'd like. It is pretty pricy for a grilled cheese sandwich, but I'd still recommend coming here for a quick snack or lunch if you're in the area. The one downside is the seating for the food truck is all outside and there's very little shade. You can grab a drink at Hi-Sign brewing and sit and the air conditioned taproom.

I had a grilled cheese with pepperoncini peppers. It fell on the sweet side and wasn't my cup of tea honestly. Staff was friendly but I just wouldn't go back based on the food.

    Via 206 and Burning Macs!

A little pricey but WORTH IT! I got the Via 206! It was a sweet and savory grilled cheese. It had unexpected flavors but was very tasty! You can occasionally dip it into some hot sauce for some spice. The sandwich came out piping hot and the cheese was extremely gooey! There was so. Much. CHEESE! If you're willing to try something new, I definitely suggest the via 206! The other sandwiches were Burning Macs! Again, very tasty and interesting because there was macaroni in the sandwich! And again, loads of cheese!!! This was a more conventional grilled cheese, but still very tasty!

I think the picture speaks for itself but these were sooooo good. The cheese is tastes amazing and they don't hold back The food truck staff is very nice and it's a nice place to stop while touring SoCo! I think unfortunately the recent bad reviews took a hit on business BUT it looks like they've done what they can to amend their mistakes.

I honestly don't even know how I came to find this place because if I had tried to travel through Austin by myself, I would have blinked and missed this place. There is just so much in Austin and I only had a few hours there, but I am so glad that I came across this gem. After walking all around Austin and trying to fit in as much of Austin as I could in those few hours, this was the perfect bite of food to represent a small journey through Austin: it was quick, it was unique, and it as dang-good. The space itself is not much, it's basically a static food truck, and there is minimal outside seating. It was really interesting to just sit down and watch people as they passed by and let the afternoon cool off while biting into this amazing treat.

These peoples are truly grilled cheese wizards. They are able to take a concept of something as "boring" as some cheese and bread and turn it into a masterpiece. I went with the sandwich with Mac and cheese on it and fire bird sauce. Not only was this perfectly messy with the two cheese complimenting each-other perfectly, but it had that extra kick I needed. You'd be a fool to pass this place up, soberly or drunkenly.

It's been amazing so see how far they have come! The owners, Sophie and Eric are genuinely the kindest and most hard working people I've met. The care and attention to detail they put in does not go unnoticed and is unmatched. The entire menu is incredible and every single dish is worth trying. The Kinda French quesadilla is probably one of the best things I've ever eaten in my entire life and the guacamousse sauce is You can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches either (the Poulet Roti Baguette and the Parisian are my personal faves ) and of course the traditional Rotisserie chicken- don't skip on those potatoes either- they are SO good and really tie everything together. I unfortunately don't live in Austin anymore so I don't get to visit them nearly as often as I'd like to, but I always recommend them to locals and anyone visiting- seriously some of the best food you'll ever have, and always served with so much love and care

The bread had good flavor, but it was a bit hard to chew. The chicken itself was okay, though it leaned a little dry. I did see them add sauce to the sandwich, but I wish there had been two to three times more because the overall sandwich still felt pretty dry. Because of that, I wasn't too tempted to try their rotisserie chicken meal, but I do like the concept and think that with some changes it would be a solid spot.

Not sure if all the burgers are always cooked well-done, but that's how ours were made (and was never asked if I wanted otherwise). Also ordered a side of fried plantains that came with a small cup of ketchup. They were harder than I was expecting, and not to salted. Next time I think I'd just order the fries. Waited at the window to order for several minutes while the guy took a phone call, then had a hard time hearing him take my order since he was still on his call and had his mask on (pandemic issues...and maybe this is where he asked how I wanted my burgers cooked?? Who knows, couldn't hear him!). Then it took awhile for the order to come out. By the time I got the food and back to our table, our friends had already purchased and eaten their food from other food trucks, so that was a bummer. Good option if you're in the food truck park. Just be prepared to spend time waiting to order and get your food. Tip: ask if you can have your burger cooked medium or medium rare. If you prefer it that way, of course.

They were one of the few food trucks in this area that was open during the daytime. The majority of the other options are open later at night when the bar scene is crowded. The bad: The brisket sandwich tasted mostly of just BBQ sauce and the brisket was cut up in small weird chunks. There was melted orange cheese on it that was also unappetizing. We didn't want the caramelized onions so we asked for raw onions but the cashier/cook didn't speak English so the most we could communicate was "no onions." Also, the payment machine was all in Spanish (for selecting tip, signature, etc) so you better brush up on your Spanish if you're paying by credit card! There were cigarette butts on the ground and on the tables and a homeless person hanging out at the benches as well. I ordered fries at first but they were sold out. The interesting: The sandwiches are open-faced.

Last week I was on a break from keto, and my husband read my mind. He took me here as the first stop on a rainy Friday night date. I know they have good sandwiches, but they also have their "bait shop" schtick. They're not near any significant fishing spots, and I didn't see any evidence of bait, but whatever. Their sandwiches are good, so they can get away with it. While I ate my sandwich on the patio, we discussed the novelty nature of many Austin businesses, and which ones can hold up and which ones are pure hype. I ordered the Club sandwich. It's not a true triple-decker club, but it was the sandwich that had the best variety of fillings in my opinion. Everything you'd expect in a classic club, but easier to eat because it wasn't stacked absurdly tall like other clubs. The sourdough bread was very crispy, and the meats, cheese, and vegetables worked well inside. On the side I got potato salad which I like more than their other option, which was chips, but the potato salad wasn't anything special. Their patio was the perfect spot to enjoy a rainstorm. They have some glider chairs off to the side that are good for lounging on, but when it really started to rain we moved in to the center of the patio. I'm glad I got a chance to try Handsome Dan's. I doubt I'll be back anytime soon because huge sandwiches like this need to be an occasional treat for me, but if you're in the Springdale area looking for a satisfying meal, this is it!

Having enjoyed plenty of authentic Philly cheesesteaks over the years...many of them in Philadelphia itself...I approached this food truck with a healthy dose of skepticism. As soon as I arrived, I met Armand, who told me that he and his brother started the food truck about seven years ago. He was warm, personable, and genuinely Texas-friendly, which immediately set a positive tone for the experience. Ordering a cheesesteak is a simple three-step process: 1) Pick your cheese. 2) Choose your toppings. 3) Be polite and place your order. (I loved that part!) I ordered the cheesesteak with American cheese and grilled onions, along with a side of fries. Let me tell you...this sandwich completely exceeded my expectations! For a moment, I felt like I was back in Philly. The bread was soft, fresh, and flavorful. The steak was unbelievably tender and packed with flavor...so good that I couldn't stop talking about it.
