OK, off my soapbox. This center is part event venue, part museum. They have a variety of exhibits on display, some rotate seasonally. They also hold concerts, community gatherings and, well, celebrations here. There's ample parking and lots of outdoor space which hosts festivals and concerts in the summer. Inside, there's a large multi-purpose room that welcomes guests and offers a nice stage for performances. Keep it on your radar if you're looking to fill your calendar and try something new. I've been here for several work conferences, art shows, and community events, and it always delivers. The space itself is open, light-filled, and flexible. It somehow works just as well for professional presentations as it does for creative exhibits and big cultural gatherings. There's this peaceful energy about it, like the space knows how to hold people and ideas and creativity all at once without being overwhelming. I've been to Great Salt Lake art events here that were honestly stunning. Local artists, thoughtful installations, and the kind of vibe where you run into people you know and leave feeling more connected. For work events, it's comfortable and professional but not stiff, which is exactly what you want when you're networking or presenting something important. It's the kind of place that adapts to what you need it to be. A thoughtful conference venue, a celebration space, an art gallery, a gathering place. Every time I've gone, I've left feeling like I got something out of it. Whether it was ideas, inspiration, or just a really good conversation in the hallway. Definitely one of Utah's most versatile and underrated gems.

This was our first time to Cowabunga Bay as my kiddo won a reward through Girl Scouts and got free…read moreadmission into the park. We arrived at 10:30am Sunday to a line wrapped around the parking lot. Line luckily moved quickly and there was plenty of parking. Inside we found seating right away, but note that the best shady seating gets swooped up fast. The water park is SUPER small but the kids will have a blast. I was a really bummed by the lazy river and the small amount of rafts they offer. I counted a dozen rafts available to patrons. That's definitely not enough for the amount of people entering. One thing I was disappointed by, is that rules specifically state no outside food, coolers or drinks other than bottled water are allowed in, yet many had food & drinks not offered for sale including personal water carriers such as Stanley's. The rules also state no personal flotation devices unless they are translucent but yet there were many tubes that were colored and used in the lazy river so they don't enforce their own rules. Food was tolerable, expensive and took forever to get. Also, know that wash ticket you bit only allows you access to the 3.5 hours in the morning 10:30-2:00 or 2:30-6:00. While we found 3.5 hours was sufficient, I also felt like an extra hour would have made it more beneficial to the cost.

I couldn't ride a lot of the water slides for some health reasons, but I am so impressed. My 6 year old even went up on the largest slides! We had a blast. I loved hanging out in the lazy river, and getting dumped on by the giant buckets! I wish I had taken more photos, but I was really in the moment! What a fun water park! I cannot wait until we can come back!

I can't hype up Craft Lake City enough! Over the years I've taken several of their artisan…read moreworkshops including embroidery classes, relief printing, macrame, sugar scrubs, and so many more. They host several workshops a month and always mix up the locations as well. Sometimes their events are more intimate 21+ events at Alibi, and sometimes we're using a space at NHMU (and getting a complimentary NHMU ticket for the evening!) or the Valley Fair Mail. Every class is so much fun, and it's a lovely community of people from all over the valley. I've met so many wonderful people at these classes. The artists that host them are so talented. I've never considered myself very crafty or creative, but after taking these workshops, I've realized that I have so many skills and interests that I never knew I had! It feels like every workshop honors the creativity of my inner child :) In addition to their workshops, they do a million other things that benefit our local community and foster creativity. They host two large events - the DIY Festival in August and the Holiday Market in December. Their staff is always friendly and helpful, and every event I've attended has been fun and well organized.
