I have the honour of reviewing Burwood Station, where my family first lived when we moved to Sydney many moons ago in the 70's. We actually lived on Brooklyn Street, not at Burwood Station of course. It had been likewise many moons since I left Burwood (and Australia for that matter), so it was pretty neat to be there again on the platform in November 2012. You often don't take a picture of the familiar, but perhaps I should have. Woulda, shoulda, coulda, but didn't.
They keep this station clean and I've never had a bad memory of Burwood Station.
One of the first Westfields was here -- Westfield Shoppingtown, which is just down the street, about 6 minutes walk. Westfield now seems to own every decent big mall in America.
The band AC/DC was formed here in Burwood. I wonder if Angus Young performed any mischief here. I wonder if Angus Yelps; he should, you know. He would have a million reviews and put all of us to shame. A friend of mine was a prefect at Ashfield Boys High and said that Angus Young was voted as "Least Likely to Succeed". Good work Angus - you did better than all of them. He lives down near Cronulla way now I think, on the south side of Sydney. Good to see he stayed local when he could live in his pick of places. He must do a lot of long-distance travelling, living in Sydney.
The Easybeats were from Burwood too.
Burwood Public School was my first formal education school. Those people have a lot to answer for....(lol) read more
