The S-Bahn system has many lines across many stations, and is probably the least accessible in terms of wheelchairs on the network, mainly down to the high step to get on and off the train in most cases, and the fact most of the stations don't seem to have lift or ramp access. The average speed is just short of 40 kmph, which is around 24 miles per hour, which isn't exactly high speed especially when compared to the UK, where we are used to driving 30 miles per hour on normal roads, so this shows this public transportation system is only meant for shorter distance travel such as within Berlin, so could be quite frustrating having to go to a further distanation such as Berlin-Schonefield Airport. The layout of the stations make it more inconvenient than using other public transportation systems such as buses and the U-Bahn which was the main reason I avoided the S-Bahn system, other than when first arriving in Berlin, in favour of the other two modes of transportation, hence the reason I sadly feel the Berlin S-Bahn deserves a single one star rating.

Anyway if you start at Alexanderplatz, you will drive past the TV tower, Lustgarten & Museumsinsel / Museums island, Berliner Dom, Humboldt-University, and State Opera (from which it's just a 5 Minute walk to one of the most beautiful Berliner squares Gendarmenmarkt). You will see almost the whole Unter den Linden street. The bus will stop right in front of the Reichstag, from which you can walk to the Brandenburger Tor, Pariser Platz and the Memorial For the Murdered Jews of Europe. From the bus you will catch the sight of the Bundeskanzleramt, Haus der Kulturen der Welt/ House of the Cultures of the World, Schloss Bellevue, Siegessäule/ Victory Column, and Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche/ Memory Church. Mind that most times of the day the bus is as full with people as a cucumber with seeds. No wonder as for many tourists it is the best way to explore Berlin. Take the S-Bahn to get back to the Alexanderplatz and to enjoy a couple of nice views of Berlin or may be to get out at the Hackescher Markt for a relaxing beer in one of the hundrends of street cafes. I had a First Class reservation going from Frankfurt to Munich which was the most pleasant of my ICE experiences but my Munich to Frankfurt was my worst experience with a cancelled train. At first when I was told the train was cancelled I was told the incorrect location of where the next train would be and that I would need to get a stamp on my printed out ticket and that I would be refunded the difference between my First Class ticket and the finding any available seat downgrade chaos that would ensue. I never received any refund so it just seems you gamble with a First Class reservation if the train is cancelled you lose most of your money. I just don't understand this as I have never have had such problems witth the TGV in France amd clearly Germans have better reputations as engineers than the French so I'm not sure what the issue is?

Instead, the train was oversold, and there was nowhere to sit. We spent the trip standing in the aisle like cattle. I expect this kind of overcrowding on very inexpensive trains in developing countries, not on a premium-priced train in Germany. If you're going to charge €104 for a 55-minute journey, don't oversell the train to the point where paying passengers can't even get a seat. This experience was extremely disappointing.

It is on the U1 line only, so chances are to get where you want to go, you may have to get on another tube perhaps at a station, which is on more lines. I have to start by saying the configuration of this station, only being on one line (U1) when many other stations are at least on two is disappointing. Overall as a Station, Schlesisches Tor seemed to be highly old fashioned, and even dirty and unkept with lots of homeless people hanging around the station and a high amount of graffiti, so overall it wasn't very pleasant at all. It is located fairly close to the Berlin Wall East Side Gallery so the location overall is okay if you want to see the real Berlin wall, as I recall there is around 1.6km of it still standing. The station didn't appear to have lift access, and if it did, the lift certainly was well-hidden as it does state lift access on the map, despite there being no signs for this etc. Overall, Schlesisches Tor is a poor metro station in most regards, probably one of the worst on the networks I've visited mainly down to the routes this station is located on, overall feel and cleanliness and accessibility, hence sadly warranting a single one-star rating.
