The owner of this new Thai eatery in El Cajon has been making terrific Thai food for years with a variety of different eateries that he has built up and then sold over the years. Now he has settled down to this little location out of the spot light of the big cities, but still making those fantastic Thai meals. I stopped in for lunch and ordered the Pad Kee Mao or "Drunken Noodles" with chicken at a easy to eat heat level four. The drunken noodles came with a decent amount of tender well seasoned chicken and slightly smoky wide noodles. Both the chicken and noodles were very well prepared. The vegetables too were well prepared and cut into easy to eat pieces. The number 4 heat level was just right for me. It provided a mild tingle but nothing that took away from the flavor of the food. Overall it was a great serving of Pad Kee Mao and I would not hesitate to order it again for $7.95. They offer great lunch specials from Mon thru Friday, 11 am till 2 pm all at $6.95. read more

Omg I last night after eating here I was so disappointed. Seriously, I have not been this disappointed in a very long time. ...I slept last night and I woke up this morning still disappointed. Asking myself Why? Why didn't I buy two? I ate the whole plate and as I looked down I went "oh, it's all gone" ...yeah sad face. Broke my heart right then in there. Dont get me wrong It was definitely more than enough for one person, maybe almost two even...but still, I should have known to buy 2, because no matter how full you are, trust me you will look down at that very empty plate and feel nothing but regret ...regret that you didn't buy two. Good: I love Thai food (see my other reviews) and I always seem to get the same thing! Pad Thai and Tom Kah soup. Both are delicious. A "4" on the spicy level is perfect for me. Also tried their Pad See Mao (I think I spelled that correctly...) which was good also. Atmosphere: Unfortunately we cant go inside right now, but I can't say that I would actually go in because one of the things that I don't like seeing is a lot of knick-knacks. It's not that they aren't cool to look at, but I always feel like they are dusty. The store has a ton of Thai-themed knick-knacks and I feel like they are just clutter. Price: Good Thai food isn't cheap, so my meal will usually run about 20$. So this place is right where it should be. I wish it would be cheaper, but again... good food is worth it! Service: The owner, server, waiter... I think it's all the same person...? He's always nice and if we could actually sit down in the place, I'm sure he would be attentive. Not many vegan options in El Cajon so we were surprised to find this place. The owner was very nice. I wasn't feeling great and I ordered a bowl of Tom kha among other things. The Tom kha was the best I've ever had. I eat a lot of Thai food and we are from Washington and have one of the best vegan Thai restaurants ever and this was right up there with their food. I wanted to go back before we went back to Washington to get more soup but didn't get the opportunity. The perfect balance of salty with a bit of sweetness balanced with sour zing translates into a party in anyone's mouth for Thai spicy food loving. The shrimp is the right size, meaning not too small and the pad Thai with chicken, with their unique thin chewy lo menu style noodles were the absolute Mega BOMB. If I sound a bit too enthusiastic...I am... maybe because up in north San Diego you will not find a place like this. Nope. Let me go back though, I'm a regular, I've been supporting Troy(the owner) since he opened, Ive been on his tail to get some papaya salad on that menu for years! So I've tried some stuff that I thought was good and I wanted to call for takeout and ask Troy if there was anything he recommended. Well instead of Troy I got another lady who could not multitask and when I asked for Troys recommendation she said "too busy"and hung up so I called back she heard my voice and hung up again... so I called a third time , very upset at this point and the call rang to voicemail called again and same. Finally she picks up rudely and says you can't order here I'm the owner too.. Went down to confront her and ask to speak with Troy and when I arrived she said she was half owner and was combative and extremely rude she said my money was no good there and would not let me speak to Troy to which I said F U B!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the kind of review I like to write.seems like only once in a blue moon I am able to rate a business 5 stars.I am happy to report th at Busy B earned every one. As several reviews pointed out this is a hole on the wall. My GPS got confused trying to find it. Partially because When I first Googled Thai food in El Cajon the address I got was 330 Magnolia. The actual address is on N Magnolia. My G , 2 lefts a a right for a block and another right into the parking lot. Had I been there before I would have known I'd have known to drive a few feet further instead of pulling into the parking lot. Live and learn... As I walked up to the place my first observation was how great it smelled. I was hungry when I did my Google search,even more at the smell of the Busy B I walked in. The place was deserted. I waited for a moment Then asked, "is anyone here" ? A man came out and smiled warmly and said, come in, sit anywhere you like. Anyone that reads my reviews knows that no matter how good the food and service if I don't feel special it's impossible to get 5 stars. I ordered the Crying Tiger. I wish I would have asked why a beef did was named so. It came to me hot and delicious. My server I found out was the owner, Troy took excellent care of me. We talked and he listened to me. My meal including tax was 2 buck less than my pre tax meal yesterday. The service and overall experience was much better today than where I ate yesterday. The place was clean. Nicely decorated. Kind of dark but not bad. At the end of my delicious meal Troy and I talked. I told him I could honestly say the only better Thai food so ever ate was in the home of a girl I was seeing in Paytaya Beach Thailand. If you find yourself hungry for Thai food on El Cajon, this is the place to go. I almost forgot to mention when I asked what the Flying Tiger was he gave me a good discrption and showed me a photo from his phone. I will be back soon and I'll venture to guess often. I've never seen Tom Kha this color before...the serving size was huge, lots of PERFECTLY cooked chicken, not too spicy and dang, it it the spot! You can add noodles for an additional fee.
