I've got to remind myself this is a NHS-driven surgery, not the fourth ring of hell.
As a Bay resident, this is my local doctor's centre, and I always dread a forthcoming visit. Oh Lord, the waiting you'll do here. I know it's par for the course normally, but even with an appointment, you can anticipate a 30-45 minute wait time. Bring a good book is all I can say.
Situated in the heart of Bute Street, the Butetown Health Centre is a bit on the grim side, and really in need of a refurbishment, if not for the patients, then for the high-quality doctors and nurses who grace its doors.
The centre houses a few GPs, but I can only comment on the treatment I've been given by the Dr. Sauders' surgery. The receptionists are always very pleasant and helpful, but the poor doctors and nurses are normally rushed off her feet (I guess like any other doctor practice - seems a universal thing!).
But the most important thing is that they always listen to what I have to say, and never dismiss me with a wave of the hand and a "Oh, just take some paracetamol."
So hence the three star rating - the staff are knowledgeable and friendly, but the place is in dire need of a makeover. read more
