This is a super cute little souvenir store in Frankfurt, located across the street from the local…read morecathedral. It was the first place in Germany where I saw little ceramic smoker houses. My best friend is married to a German, and my Aunt lived in Germany long ago so German smokers have been a Christmas tradition in our home for years, but seeing these little houses was new to me. I enjoyed looking at them, and also taking in some of the other items for sale. This store in particular seems to specialize in ceramics, and nicer souvenirs as there were very few cheaper items such as magnets and stickers - like you might find in the bigger square on the other side of the Cathedral. Overall I enjoyed this little shop. It wasn't cheap, but the items seemed to be of a higher quality than some of the other touristy stores in the area.

Noord is a concept and design store in Frankfurt's Nordend and it is my favorite. They carry local designer's goods... including everything from posters to mugs to jewelry. I can't stand when people say "Ohhhhh that is an Instagram pretty place" (really, is your life that fake and contrived??), but Noord is an Instagram pretty place. But what it is most is local and a place that supports the small guys fighting in a sea of Ikeas and corporations. The service at Noord is attentive and knowledgeable about the products they sell. This means a lot for mindful buyers like myself. Definitely a must-visit in Frankfurt for those loving design and getting behind the concept itself and supporting the local and small guys.
