Food was delightful! The service was very quick and pleasant. The atmosphere was quaint. Not what I was expecting if you're looking for a nice sit down brunch spot, food gets served in To Go Containers which is very handy if you have left overs. I had their B&G (Biscuit and Gravy), as well as a biscuit with honey butter and strawberry jam on the side. My husband had the southern comfort and enjoyed it.

I found this place because it was close to a friend that was visiting in Visalia. There are only open for breakfast and late brunch. This beautiful little breakfast Café is nestled in a shopping complex. There's a lovely pergola in front of it with tables for outdoor dining if that is what you wish; there are also tables inside. This is a place in which you order at the front counter and then pick it up or they will bring it out to you. For me, it's always a tough choice between potatoes for breakfast and fresh bread like biscuits. They specialize in biscuits. My friend went for biscuits and they have a special honey butter that you can order with them. I ordered breakfast potatoes smothered with sausage gravy, which was just fabulous. The menu listed of being topped with two fried eggs, which I don't care for so I requested scrambled and they happily complied. The flavor was absolutely fresh and homemade. Really delicious. I have to say the sausage gravy was perfect, well seasoned, chunks of sausage, and it was not glue like you frequently find. It was hard for me to make a choice from the menu as there were so many different delicious sounding options. Now that the weather is cooled, it's a perfect place for sitting outdoors with coffee and breakfast. Staff were friendly and service was well paced. I can't wait to go back and try the biscuits.

We stopped here for a quick breakfast bite before hitting the road out of Visalia. The place has a nice charm centered around tasty biscuits and positive vibes. I got the Ginger Friend and he got the Southern Comfort. For beverages, I got a 16oz flat white which tasted just as good as any other coffee shop you might get it from. The person at the register was efficient and the person who brought out food out to the cute, vine covered patio was pleasant as well. Stop in for a good bite

Plain biscuit with strawberry jam and honey butter (extra $1.25) - average

I really wanted to like Butter+Milk Biscuit Bar, but I thought it was just OK. Since I wasn't starved, I had just the biscuit with the honey butter and the strawberry jam. Truthfully, I was a little surprised that they charged me an extra $1.25 for butter as you have to choose between the butter or the jam. It's a decent biscuit, but nothing outrageous, and it wasn't that warm. The honey butter was so cold that it didn't even melt on the barely warm biscuit. I ate the biscuit with chunks of unmelted butter and jam at the restaurant, which was a rather plain interior. They did make a good vanilla latte. There were a number of locals that came in and out as I sat there so it's probably a local favorite, but this is definitely not a destination place if you're in the area. Maybe I ordered wrong, and if I did, please feel free to let me know.

    Breakfast burrito with linguica

I was looking for a place for a good breakfast burrito. I saw the high rating and all the good reviews of this place. So I came and I saw that they had several burrito options. I settled on the burrito with Linguica. It was a 9 inch burrito that was seared on both sides. It was cut in half for me and you can see the melted cheese and all the linguica. My first bite had a little bit of eggs, cheese, and linguica. It was not my favorite linguica, I think I needed one with a little more bite of spice to it. The potatoes in the burrito needed a little more seasoning as it was very bland. The salsa given to me with my burrito did help out. This place had a good atmosphere, there were places to sit inside and out. For me it missed the mark on this burrito. I was told that there was a more popular burrito but the linguica caught my eye. If I am in the area I may come back to try the other burrito. But it was a miss for me on this visit.

We enjoyed a casual breakfast here. We ordered at the counter and then they brought the food out to us. We did wait quite a bit for the food despite arriving before the rush. I had the Bless Your Heart breakfast burrito. It needed flavor and it was a bit wet, but a decent breakfast burrito. My mom had the B&G and the biscuit came with so much gravy and the gravy was delicious!

I'm always on the lookout for new and different breakfast spots, especially local gems that aren't part of a big chain. This place caught my eye, and while I didn't research whether it was locally owned, it definitely had that independent vibe. I ordered the Mud on the Tires--a large biscuit cut in half, smothered in sausage gravy, and topped with chopped bacon. The food was good, but maybe I went in with higher expectations than I should have. It wasn't bad by any means, just not quite as impressive as I had hoped. The service, however, was top-notch--super friendly and welcoming. The interior had a great look and a comfortable atmosphere, which made for an overall enjoyable experience. Since I live in Lemoore, it's a bit of a drive to get here. I'd come back, but I'd probably explore other spots first before making a second visit. Definitely worth trying if you're in the area and craving a hearty breakfast!

One half of the Portuguese Burrito

Butter+MilkBiscuit Bat in Visalia is a very popular restaurant in both eat in and take out service. Counter ordering and table delivery for eat in. Pour your own coffee. Our counter person, Colson, was extremely helpful and friendly. He deserves a raise. After two visits here over the past 10 months or so, I have concluded it will be our number one go to breakfast spot when we are in Visalia. Today, my wife and I split the Portuguese Burrito. It was plenty for us both. Served with I nice spicy salsa and a couple of hot sauces available on the table, it made a delightfully delicious meal price was good - $14.25 - for the huge burrito. Ambiance is kind of coffee shop modern. It does lack that relaxed comfortable feeling, but the food makes up for it. Try it - you'll like it!!

We were stopping by Visalia before heading to SoCal. I was looking for breakfast burrito places... imagine my surprise when I saw a menu that was similar to a place that I know and love... Their website doesn't show a sister location but my curiosity was piqued. We pulled up to the location and my question was answered. It had the logo on the window Butter+Milk and on the other side Beachin' Biscuits. For some who may not know, they have a sister location in Pismo Beach that opened prior to this. This location is a little bigger and had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The location surrounding it was nice and not too busy when we visited. Since, I was familiar with Beachin' Biscuits I already knew what I wanted. I was super excited, the lady that took my order Giselle was less excited. She was low key rude and lacked customer skills. While I was waiting for my order, I noticed she was like that with everyone except people she knew. I didn't let her mood bring me down. My order was out in about 10-15 minutes and the lady who gave me my order was super nice. She even gave me syrup for my boardwalk bites. I ordered: 1. Pablo burrito: This is one of my go-to's. Surprisingly, this wasn't greasy like the other location. It was filling with the gravy, I was stuffed with just one mini burrito. 2. Boardwalk bites: No shortage of cinnamon here. Each bite was covered all the way around. To be honest it didn't even need syrup. 3. Southern comfort with sausage patty: Sadly, the biscuit was hard which left everything to be dry. Sausage was lost in the biscuit. 4. Side of potatoes: Lightly crispy and didn't need ketchup. 5. Cold brew: I got the last cup, it was tasty but mostly all ice. A nice new alternative when I can't make it to pismo beach or if we take 99 to LA.

This is a cool little spot for breakfast...especially if you're craving a delicious homemade biscuit or something a little bit more. There was a little line and a little wait; but both went pretty fast. We ordered the tires in the mud ... everything with bacon is delicious. Hearty and filling. Hunky Dory has fluffy eggs and cheese ... which is great when you want that extra protein. Must say the portions are pretty good size; easily shareable. The biscuits were my favorite; fluffy and thick. My only complaint is that wish there was more outdoor seating. Tables get filled quickly.

Bottom half of the biscuit. This was perfect!

The indoor seating place is well placed and doesn't feel too crowded. Being from out of town, been fortunate to have their breakfast and lunch. Breakfast: had the chicken fried steak, egg and hashbrown. Big portion enough to take some home. The breakfast was good but nothing flavorful to brag about but what you would expect for a good chicken fried steak. Cooked perfect. Lunch: had the fried burger and regular fries. The burger was a good size, seasoned well and cooked (medium) as requested. The fries were plain and i would recommend the curly fries. I also had the sampler plate. Onion rings: cut and cooked good. Fried pickles: tasted as they should. Cheese curds: batter well but needed and little longer to cook. The cheese had that laffy taffy stretch. Chicken wings: buffalo. The flavor and cook was tasteful but just too small. About the size of a fun size snicker. Overall: the service and food is still great. I recommend this place for sure. FYI, they do have pastries that looked good but I didn't get any.

The Hidden Gem of the Central Valley: A Taste of Denmark in Visalia…read moreIf you find yourself cruising down Highway 99 or heading toward the majestic Sequoias, there is a culinary "X" on the map you cannot afford to miss. Nestled in Visalia, Valhalla isn't trying to be a Michelin-starred temple of gastronomy and that's exactly why it's a masterpiece. As a food critic, I look for soul. I look for efficiency. As amateur food photographer/stylist, I look for that "honest plate." Valhalla hits the trifecta with a warm, "hygge" (Danish coziness) atmosphere that makes locals feel like family and travelers feel like they've finally found home. The Aesthetic: Rustic Hygge The vibe is "Elevated Roadside Charm." It's clean, bright, and unpretentious. The wood accents and subtle Danish motifs pay homage to the heritage of the Solvang-style roots without being kitschy. * Stylist's Note: The food here doesn't need tweezers or edible gold. It's all about the texture of a golden-brown crust and the vibrant contrast of a red lingonberry jam against a snowy dusting of powdered sugar. It looks exactly how you want comfort food to look: generous and real. The Menu: Scandinavian Roots Meet California Fresh The menu is a masterclass in "less is more." It honors Danish history while remaining approachable for the hungry traveler. Signature Dish, What Makes it Special Aebleskiver Spherical Danish pancakes, light as air, served with jam. The gold standard. Fluffy interior with a delicate crisp. The Viking Omelet Packed with savory proteins and local veggies. A powerhouse breakfast that fuels a hike through the Kings Canyon. Danish Sausage & Eggs Authentic, snappy sausages with a unique spice profile. A savory trip to Copenhagen on a single plate. Swedish/Danish Pancakes, Paper-thin, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth. Better than your grandmother's (don't tell her). Why It Works (The Restaurateur's Perspective) Valhalla succeeds because it knows its identity. In a world of over-complicated fusion menus, they stick to strong roots. * Service: It's the kind of place where the coffee stays hot and the smiles are genuine. * Accessibility: The menu is easy to read, making it perfect for a quick stop-off for travelers or a Sunday tradition for families. * Quality: You can taste the heritage. They aren't cutting corners on the fats or the flours; they are honoring the recipes passed down through generations. The Verdict: Whether you're a local regular or a wanderer looking for a rest, Valhalla is a mandatory pit stop. It is a reminder that the best meals aren't always found in big cities, but in the small towns where history is still served on a plate.
