Buyer beware with this "breeder"! Her name is Maryjo Sliwinski. It is my opinion she is actually just a puppy broker. Everything she told me about my puppy I bought from her has been false. 1. She said dog would be 4-5 lbs full grown. Nope...it's 9lbs and full grown now. 2. She said dog is sweet and gentle. Nope....it erupts unpredictably into aggression that you cannot believe. We could never EVER have this dog near a child! ( we now have to pay additional $100's for trainer help) 3. She said it would not have tear stains....Nope it has had bad tear staining since the week we brought the puppy home. 4. She charged me $3500. cash. She told me pup would be teacup size and that is the correct price for teacup size. She would not take credit card or bank checks. ( b/c she wants no record in case you want a return or have major problems with the pup) In conclusion, Maryjo has the charm of a car salesman- believe me...you will like her, but she will say everything you want to hear in order to get your cash and sell you one of her dogs! My heart is so sad....I definitely feel deceived, and financially and emotionally taken advantage of. Her business is 15 miles from Imlay City. Update: As I have told acquaintances about my experience with Buttercup Puppies they have suggested that this breeder is also a dog broker. It is perfectly legal (albeit deceptive). If you are specific about what you want in your puppy then I would advise you to insist upon meeting your puppy's parents. Maryjo talked me out of meeting my pup's parents, and I met Maryjo at the airport to do the exchange of my cash for her pup. More than likely, I bought a puppy that was brokered by Maryjo, and she didnt want me to discover that she doesn't have my puppy's parents at her residence. I was naive. When I reflect on this experience it is just so sad b/c I really thought Maryjo was a wonderful lady, but she's purely a greedy woman at any cost. I purchased my Havi-Poo from MaryJo in July 2018! My little Chole is perfect!! She is a bundle of joy. She is full of energy and never ceases to make me smile! She weighs in at about 8 lbs and is easy to bath, brush trim clip nails and anything else! She has been easy to train not to bark. My neighbors and friends also love Chloe. I continue to talk with MaryJo on a regular bases! I would definitely look to MaryJo for a second puppy! I was shocked to read the other reviews as my experience has been nothing but good! read more

Well would you look at that Mary Jo, we meet again! Remember me? Almost 14 years ago? I got a puppy from Mary Jo and for all the money I paid I got a bonus, a puppy with PARVO. It cost me a small fortune to save this dogs life. I even tried to sue Mary Jo and while the judge thought she was quite the piece of work, her health guarantee, which I signed, covers NOTHING! Still up to the same old BS only now people have more access to the truth behind the façade. There's no way I could pass by and not share my experience. This women is a complete scam artist. I came to pick up my puppy from her home, we get there and the puppies nail beds were bleeding all over the place as she said she just cut her nails and made a mistake on the length? This is what we walked into for the first time seeing the puppy we would be paying almost $2,000 for. Next I ask to see the parents of the pup " oh they are not here they moved with my daughter to Oregon" she is so full of crap. I did not see any other puppies In the house but yet she advertises that she has all of these Malti-poos and Aussie Poos available?? Where were the other dogs????!! I guarantee she is getting the dogs from a puppy mill. No parents? No other dogs?? HUH????? We get into the car with our puppy and notice her belly is completely bloated and she is having a difficult time breathing. I immediately contact her and no response. By the way when my Husband asked her questions she said " all info is in the packet" by the way the papers had several typo errors on them. I feel you should be turning this breeder into the BBB and Attorney General's Office in your state, otherwise people are going to believe everything she writes on her site. Her fees are exorbitant. Maryjo is definitely a scam artist and a liar. We got a dog from her that she claimed was a Bichon Frise that weighed nine pounds. She also claimed the dog was a year and a half old. None of it was true. The vet told us she's about five years old and about twenty pounds and is some kind of various mixed breed dog. I am glad we rescued from this turd of a breeder because the poor dog was most likely living in a cage most of her life and sitting in her own waste as evidenced by her stained paws and belly. I picked him up at the airport and he already weighed 8lbs and she lied on the telephone and through e-mail. He smelled so bad I had to give him a bath as soon as we got home from airport. The gal that escorted him said that was how she received him. He weighs 12lbs he is a sweet guy but really wanted a smaller dog. Maryjo (breeder), speaks with a silver tongue - BEWARE. She is a total scam. Money is her game - YOURS. My puppy came with bloody paws due to her nails being cut to short. Her due claws were not removed. Two days after purchasing my puppy, I took her for a health check to my vet. She was infected with ear mites and multiple parasites. My puppy is now 5 months old and weighs almost 9 lbs., not the promised between 5 and 7 lbs. The puppy is very aggressive with her biting. I can not allow he to be around people. I was looking for a Great breeder of Maltese as I had lost my beloved Maltese 2 + years ago. I found Buttercuppuppies on line and on Facebook. And was So Exciting to find what I thought was a "Holistic" breeder. Sadly I didn't think to look at Yelp. I talked with Maryjo a few times and exchanged emails. She was Very willing to talk to me- Until After she got our money! I thought her website showed her to be a very caring and legitimate breeder and business women. In Nov. Maryjo advertised Christmas puppies and a discount. Maryjo promised to ship the 8 week old puppy to us on Dec. 22, 2017. She said she had some Maltese, and some mixed Maltese/Havanese puppies. We could not afford the Maltese prices but after looking at the pictures of the puppies on her website and Facebook, my husband asked me if I'd be willing to take a Maltese mix. Since Maryjo Assured us that he would be 6-7 pounds- I was Excited to have found a beautiful "healthy " puppy we could afford!! And he would be at our home for Christmas!! That was the first lie I found out about. As with the other reviewer here- we were made to send a cashiers check to a P.O. box- even forced to express mail the check as we were told that she would not ship the puppy until she had all the money. I repeatedly asked Maryjo for updated photos of the puppy- But my requests were Ignored until things got ugly when Maryjo Did Not ship the puppy to us. The second lie I found out was that Maryjo would be able to ship the puppy to us. I did not check into rules about shipping animals until Maryjo Repeatedly had excuses for not shipping him. That was when I checked into the laws and found that you Can Not ship an animal if the ground temps are Below 45 degrees or above 85. When are the MI ground temps above 45 in the Winter?! Maryjo told me that because the temps were below zero- that I should pay to Fly across the country and come pick up the puppy! She would be willing to refund a Part of the money I sent her to pay for shipping the dog- this would pay for Some of my flight to come get the dog!! Either that or I'd have to Wait until she could ship him! And Still she Ignored my Repeated requests for updated photos! By this time I was Fed Up! I told Maryjo in emails and text messages that she needed to either send updated photos and a ship date for the puppy Or send Back our $3000. That is when things got ugly. She told me I was being Very Unreasonable and that I'd just have to wait until she could ship the dog. When I said that I was done trying to deal with her and that I'd Be contacting the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General in MI if she did not send us our money back. Maryjo said it was against the law for me do those things and that if I did- then I'd be forfeiting the puppy and money. My husband and I were at our wits end. I knew that I could make those calls and report her. But I did not believe we'd ever see the puppy Or our money. My husband and I discussed the situation- and decided rather than loosing all that money and going through all that we'd have to to sue Maryjo- we decided that one of us would fly to MI and pick up the puppy. The 3rd lie we learned was that Maryjo Assured us that our puppy was Healthy! The puppy is adorable But was SICK from the time I received him at the airport! I was given a baggy of soft dog food with the puppy- from Maryjo's daughter. Maryjo would not come herself- after all the Trouble and Refusals Of Photos and giving us our money back- I was Not surprised that she would not come face me. I had a wait at the airport and a 4+ hour flight, so was Concerned that the puppy would go too long without food. So an hour before the flight I gave the puppy some bottled water and a little of the food. Immediately the puppy started having diarrhea! The poor baby had 4 More bouts of diarrhea before I got him home 6 hours later! And the diarrhea continued on after getting him home. I became Very worried that something was Seriously wrong and took him to a Truly Holistic Vet who with fecal samples sent to a lab was able to tell us that our Puppy Has Giardiasis! Which Can be Passed to Humans! And means that our puppy has to be on probiotics And Antibiotics, we have to clean Everything with Bleach, wash the puppy Every time he goes poop, wash his bedding Every day, have our rugs steam cleaned, and Pray that all this gets rid of the Giardiasis and that neither my husband or I Get it! And on Top Of All this- As Soon as I got home from the airport- so Worried because the puppy had had So many bouts of diarrhea- I texted Maryjo asking for suggestions/Help As to treating his diarrhea- and she Again Ignored Me! When I found out that the Puppy has Giardiasis- I again reached out to her- And I have heard Nothing! Buyer Beware!! I do Not believe that Maryjo is a Holistic breeder!! We purchased our Maltese from MaryJo from buttercuppuppies. Our dog went to vet right away to get vaccinated. When we picked him up he had fleas and mites in his ears. Holistic for her means not vaccinating the dogs from preventable diseases which is ridiculous because are dog was not healthy when we purchased it. Plus she charges exorbitant prices for dogs with no vet care. Look for a reputable breeder and you will not be sorry because you will just incur many vet bills. read more
