We were told right at our arrival that the kitchen wanted to go home and finish work. What a way to welcome people! Then, we weren't given menus (they wanted us to take the special, insisting very coldly and suspiciously) and when we asked for them, the waitress gave us only one for eight guests and urged us to choose our meal. Everything we told the waitress, she accused us of saying so : unbelievable! We got in an argument with her and then she stopped serving us. Another waitress came with the appetizers : Salty, filled with onion piece of meat. The bread was dry. Not really a way to appetize anything. Since the menu costs 50.- CHF, we were expecting good food. The following dishes were abysmal. As "hors-d'oeuvre" I got the weirdest thing ever : Scallop-filled creme brulée (What the... ???!!!) with scattered salad drowned in commercial dressing! The plates weren't even clean, COME ON ! Then the waitress comes back, forces us to say if we found it good or not, and leaves with the clean covers instead of the dirty ones ! We call her back and she says she didn't do that. That's it, we give up. The entree was some pork-chop drowned in a sauce you can buy in a supermarket (to hide the taste?). The meat was too cooked, the vegetables disgusting. Some of us got fish. It was frozen food, and they got sick afterward. And the cook was obsessed with KIWI. He put a slice of it on EVERY DISH ! It was so terrible it got comical. After spilling sauce on me on the way out, the waitress came back with desserts : strawberries with ice-cream. Not fresh and the ice-cream wasn't even home-made. One of us asked for raw strawberries, got in an argument again, and they brought her strawberries drowned in coconut milk. They brought us a rose with the bill and coffee and were sad we had to pay with card. The staff was so rude I thought I was going to leave without paying. Please, someone fire everyone and do something completely different with the place. QUICK.

The view wasn't very clear because it was a little bit foggy. On the way we made a break in Chalet Restaurant Dent de Vaulion. The fondue was delicious and just the bread wasn't fresh. I have come to like one of the regional specialties, filets de perche, and my colleague said that the best was at Vieux-Navire. Was she ever right! There are five preparations of the perche in two different serving sizes offered, as well as a larger serving with three different preparations. I had the classic with fries, and it was delicious! The fish tastes fresh and is cooked just right, with a nice buttery flavor. The accompanying tartar sauce is great. The fries are good, though perhaps not as crisp as I prefer. I ordered the larger serving, which is done in two services. This is an added value, as the second serving is nice and hot when you get it. With the perche dish comes a simple yet very tasty starter salad (the dressing is delicious). Even the bread and the olives served when you sit down are very good! While the perche is the specialty of the house, the restaurant also offers a variety of other dishes, including steaks, which looked very good. There are some very nice dessert options. I got a chocolate cake (there's a lot more to it than that, but the menu is only in French), while my friend got the profiteroles. Both were absolutely delicious and almost artistic in their presentation. Prices at the restaurant are quite reasonable for Switzerland. Yes it may seem pricey if you're crossing the border from France, but for a restaurant on the Swiss side of Lake Geneva, prices are very fair for the quality, quantity, and service you receive. Speaking of, service at the restaurant is fantastic. For non-French speakers, a couple of the staff speak English. Overall the staff was friendly and attentive. There was always someone walking by to check on you. Also for a restaurant in Switzerland (where dinner can easily exceed three hours), service was very fast. We sat, ordered, and finished our salad and two-service main course within 40 minutes. We stayed longer because we wanted to, but it's nice to have the flexibility of a shorter evening if you prefer. The ambiance of the restaurant is also a highlight. It's small and feels cozy, with a bit of a nautical theme. I can't wait to go back when the weather is better and the terrace overlooking the lake is open!
