By The Sea has all the beachy cafe vibes you could ever want. It is seriously such a dreamy, cool place! There is a really nice covered patio out front where you can eat and literally listen to the sounds of the ocean waves from the beach right across the street! They have a lot of good breakfast options, and really reasonable prices. Our waitress was super sweet, I think maybe she was the owner? But both her and her husband work there and they were gems. The food was okay. To be honest, it looks better than it tasted in my opinion, but I still enjoyed the meal. The pancakes were huge and fluffy, but they didn't have a ton of taste. I really liked the addition of the apples and cinnamon on them, that was unique and fun. I wish this place were open for dinner too. This is the best breakfast and lunch place we have found here. The owner is a nice lady who makes good herself. They have such a big variety of choices. 5 types of bread, four types of pancakes, etc.. they have a lot of vegetarian options and can accommodate a few vegan options too. I have a stomach ulcer and they brought me a cup of oatmeal with no milk or fruit in it. Also, the waitress Amy did such a good job. She was very attentive and friendly. By the Sea Cafe is the cutest beach cafe! We stopped by Sunday around noon while down here for a wedding. Denise gave us the warmest greeting and let us choose where we wanted to sit. She took our drink order and left us to look over the menu. There is a good amount of food to choose from. We decided breakfast today. I got the short stack of chocolate chip pancakes with a side of bacon. Everything was amazing and the pancakes are huge! I couldn't finish all of them. My bf got the Ocean City Special. He swapped the pancakes for french toast. He got two scrambled eggs with cheese, grits with cheese and bacon. He said it was tremendous. We also split a piece of homemade pumpkin pie which was delicious! We will definitely be coming back here to try their lunch and new dinner menu. You can't beat the view of the ocean! We had breakfast here today- walked over from hotel next door. Nice views outside of the ocean, we were hot so we ate in. Good selection, we were hungry and had the ocean city sampler- chef's pancakes were outstanding, potatoes were delicious as well. Wife liked the fruit options and blueberry pancakes. Finally got to try thus place for breakfast. Every time I drive by it's closed so I wasn't sure if it was preeminently shut down. Anyhow, we got breakfast and ordered the Brutus (something or another) which was hash browns loaded with cheese and an egg. This was super simple but good! The potatoes were cooked well I just wish the cheese was a bit more melted. Also got the breakfast with eggs, hash browns, bacon and blueberry pancakes. The bacon was really good and cooked perfectly, just wish there was more than 2 tiny pieces. The pancakes were also good, very fluffy and had fresh blueberries; would have been nice if the whipped cream was homemade. The only downside was the coffee...it was bitter and not enjoyable. The servers kids were there and she had to tell them multiple times to stop causing problems because it's the place where she works. An apple was thrown out the front door from them fighting. Service was very slow and they also had us sit there for 20 minutes because they couldn't figure out their card machine. I highly recommend going down the road to Java Joint instead. read more

The food was the best and the people are so friendly it was like having breakfast with my friendly neighbors that really enjoy cooking. Finally got to try this cute cafe with amazing ocean view on A1A. Still on my quest to visit every restaurant in Flagler. We went there for lunch on a cloudy Saturday. I had seen the sign for slow cooked bbq and finally needed to try it. Put on our masks and walked inside and they told us all outside seating, which was good, that's what we wanted anyway. Found a. Great spot again, overlooking the beautiful Atlantic. Lots of sandwiches and burgers on the menu but fyi, NO Beer. My husband and I split a JUMBO pulled pork sandwich with Coleslaw on top and a side of macaroni salad and chips and a pickle. Bun and sandwich were huge. Pork was tasty, bigger chunks than I was expecting but verrrry tender. We had a great server, Jessica who also took the time to fill us in on the area as we are newer visitors. I can't wait to go back for Breakfast and I think that's what they are known for an I would like to try their Cuban sandwiches. OH...and side note, I'm sort of an ice tea snob and I ordered unsweetened ice tea and it was perfectly brewed. They also gave me a to go cup! :-). Check this cafe out immediately. Wow! This place was amazing! I had a wonderful huge breakfast but the best part was the Cuban sandwich my husband had. We took a month in Feb 2021 to escape Michigan and found this quaint cafe at Flagler beach. We did a tour around Florida my husband ordered a Cuban sandwich wherever he found them. In all, he had 7 Cubans and this one was clearly the best! Authentic, great bread, all the works...it was his FAVORITE! We highly recommend this Cafe, and especially the Cuban! Literally the worst breakfast I have had in my life in several countries, and hundreds of different restaurants. Location and service is amazing. Food is horrible. Omelette was raw and runny on the inside...uneatable. Obviously cooked in a pan that had older eggs cooked in it prior. The hash browns were just the very top, crispy part, of hash browns. I kid you not, the hash browns were the paper thin top of hash browns. Its like they took the top off and left out the actual hash browns. They were also black due to not being burnt, rather cooked in a frying pan with dirty oil. Gross. The grits were served in a small dixie cup with packaged shredded cheese on top. Once you dumped out the cheese, the grits were lumpy, cold, and tasted burnt. Great location, too bad their food is uneatable. read more

We were immediately seated at an outside table with a great view of the Ocean. Then, after we ordered, we waited. And waited. The very small kitchen prevents reasonable turnaround times. My wife & I waited nearly 45 minutes for our breakfast. The food was hit & miss. Flavor of hash browns was great, but they were cold. Omelet flavor was great, and it was hot. My wife's home fries were cold and some bites were soft & others were hard. Otherwise, she was satisfied by her food's temperature. Maybe the kitchen was having a bad day. Or not. We'll try the Cafe one or two more times before deciding whether to become regulars. read more

However this time I was not impressed. The home fries were raw and had no flavor to them- it really was a let down. Such an amazing find! We were on our way to St. Augustine, driving up along the beach, and decided to find some lunch. My husband spotted this little place, and we decided to stop in. I just left this wonderful place located right on the ocean. I had a fantastic breakfast called Apple Cinnamon Starfish Pancakes with a side of bacon, the pancake were light and fluffy and the bacon cooked perfectly. The coffee was good and Christina, who waited on me must have asked if I wanted more coffee at least 3 times. This was my first time here and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience!!!
