Earlier it went boat to the city center in the hot season, but the boats are now only Queen Kaia and Bydgøynes, and the old shipping pier is now used by some younger swimmers to jump from. Just off the beach area's sculpture Large Arch by Henry Moore and Ikaros by Anne Sofie Døhlen. Many available picnic tables and grilling areas. Norwegians like to bring their own disposable grills and lawn chairs to relax. Pets are allowed at the beach. Hungry and don't want to grill out or picnic? There is Hukodden Beach Restaurant in the area. It is clean and lovely view of the fjords and sailing boats. Overall a great experience.

Bring your own charcoal for the public grills. Kalvøya Island is a walking bridge away, great for exploring or a quick jog. One caveat: Make sure to bring cash for ice cream - no cards accepted.
