While most would call it a gym, it's overall culture, belief structure, and classes heavily focusing on working out the mind, body, and soul makes me keen to write this review. Being an expat in Byron and recognizing just how small of a town this is (especially on a bicycle), I was very pleased with the location of H&S as well as the 24/7 access to the facilities. What I especially love are the yoga classes that are offered seven days a week, usually two times a day. While I know the ins and outs of memberships - on a personal level - I feel like Heart and Soul offers the best yoga classes in town with some of the most genuine, true-to-practice teachers. Sydoni, Shane, and Chris (the teachers who I personally experienced) are all experts having practiced and perfected their teaching for years and years. Plus, depending on the membership you purchase, you can easily get all the gym and yoga classes for a cheap weekly rate (which I feel definitely works in your favor compared to some yoga-only studios in the area that makes a killing off your wallet). I love the 6:30am classes with Shane because he knows how to incorporate a routine that runs evenly with the earliness of the class. His gentle-nature makes him a great candidate for experienced yogis as well as beginners looking to get into yoga. Chris does a restorative practice for an hour and a half on Sundays and makes the class very interactive and fun, often cracking jokes and giving us the confidence to try handstands and other positions we may not have the courage to attempt on our own. And Sydoni is just a beautiful gem. A strong asset to H&S, she burns incense and calmly walks her class through each position which gives it more of consistent flow with breathing techniques to enhance our experience. She coaches us to release the toxins from our mind and helps us enjoy a meditative state at the very end of class (as do the rest of teachers). The gym itself has everything you need. Dumbbells, cardio, pin-loading equipment, and stationary bikes with dvd spin classes available to all members. I think the philosophy here incorporates much more than your standard, run of the mill gym. There is clearly an extreme care and love that has gone into Heart and Soul, and I truly suggest (as an honest Yelp'er) that you check this place out during your stay in Byron.

Fair price for a short term membership so I'm very happy. What I especially like about this gym is the community feel of it. The owner is super friendly and knows all his members and the trainers were super friendly too. After my first workout I felt like part of the community with some new friends in town. There was a real friendly vibe in the gym with good tunes playing. This would be a great gym to join long term if I lived here, but I'll just enjoy it while in town for the week!

The lake itself is a natural lake, the stunning part is that the trees surrounding the lake have seeped their oils into the water making the water coco-cola coloured and thus the locals refer to it as the coco-cola lake. Extremely safe for swimming and mucking about in the water. Bring along a surf ski or a stand up paddle board and have a paddle. The water is cool and there's plenty of shade along the shore. Only down side is that the park is an alcohol free zone until March this year. Unsure why. Definitely go and check this stunning place out.

The walk can be configured in different ways, but basically it weaves its way down to Wategos Beach, then up to the eastern-most point of Australia, and then around to the Cape Byron lighthouse, then down through some gorgeous bushland, in a sort of loop. Or you can do it the other way around. It's definitely run-able, although some sections are steep and full of steps, so often everyone but the most fit athletes are reduced to walking... One of the things I love about this walk (apart from how gorgeous the vistas are...) is the steep up and down nature of it all. Steep climbs and descents, varied terrain, from open and in the sun, to hidden in the trees. How long it takes is entirely up to you. I started the walk as a jog - on the other side of town, and then did a sort of run-walk, circling back. That took about 75 minutes. Unfortunately most of the walk is not wheelchair accessible, and it can be pretty rough if you have bad knees.
