My family of 14 came in one night to grab a bite to eat before exploring Gran Via as this place was nearby our hotel. Seating was quick, and our server took our orders in a timely manner. There was quite a selection of foods to chose from, which is awesome since all of us aren't always wanting to eat the same thing. It ranges from full plates to wraps to pizzas and even smoothies. I had ordered the plata de la casa as I wasn't really in the mood to eat with my hands and was low-key starving from our flight. It definitely hit the spot! It comes with mixed meats, rice, veggies, and fries for about 9 euros, which I think is a pretty good price for the amount of food I got. It was flavorful and filling, so that def adds to the appeal as well. My parents had opted for the wrap and decided to share that, which also comes with fries and a drink; all for 7 euros. There is a theme to this kind of food for me. It is what I need when the following conditions are in play: International travel; Jet-lag from crossing multiple time zones; Awakening hungry when everyone else around me is going to bed. Check, check and check, all of these currently apply which is how I came to find this spot 2 blocks from my hotel. It seems that Middle-Eastern Doners, Durams, or Kebaps are among the preferred sustenance of late night, alcohol-saturated crowds in all of the first world countries I have ever been to. Still open at 1:30 am and able to make me a combination shaved chicken and beef Duram for under $5 Euro is all I need when I am sleep-deprived and starving. They also get strong marks for actually making it "extra caliente" just like I asked. I have asked for this in every other Duram joint in every other country I have ever been in and never has one been made that actually made my mouth burn before tonight. Good one! The staff were friendly and fast. I was in and out in under 3 minutes with my food in tow. And while I noticed that another review banged them for having bad service and not speaking English, I can only say that I got served promptly, politely and accurately. And since the shop happens to be in Spain where Spanish is the official language, I'm not sure I can hold a lack of dual fluency against anyone. We managed to communicate just fine and they did not demand that I speak to them in Spanish (although I tried to and probably mangled my order pretty badly). The shop's food prep and eating areas were clean and it looked like the meat on the spit was fresh and frequently cut as there were no dried out edges I have experienced at other shops around the world that don't seem to do much volume. We took students to Spain for an educational field trip and having lived in Europe, we fell in love with Döner Kebap. We had to try it in Spain so we came upon this place. The Good: The sandwich (Menu Kebap) was very tasty, and very reasonably priced at less than €7 with fries and a soda. They even give you a bottle of both sauces in case you like a bit more. The Bad: it isn't exactly like German Döner, because the red sauce, which is kind of bbq-y (I still liked it though) so I wouldn't consider it a negative, but if it is hot sauce you are looking for this isn't it. Larger portions. Almost too much food on the plate to navigate it and eat it. We probably could have shared the two dinner plates that we had. The shish kafta was good. Not too expensive. Average Shish kabab. I went here in my last trip to Madrid. Since the reviews were good I ordered Shish Kabab plate instead of a quick Doner Sandwich. The meat was not very tender and the sauce was average. The service was prompt. Unlike other Turkish places I have been to this was surprising not very flexible. I asked for a side of their lentil soup but the server declined saying it was available as a main dish only. Quality of greens and salad was good. Having lived in Germany for many years and had Turkish restaurants as my main meal provider I am used to varied quality and grades. read more

After a disastrous dinner at Pink Sushiman, we had a great meal from Bosforos. We did a take away order since our hostel was nearby and it was getting late for us. We ordered at the counter, and got our food in about five minutes. We had the following: - Falafel durum (3,90 euros)- Best falafel in Spain! Had a lot of good flavors. In addition, the sauce wasn't the typical tzaki yogurt sauce, but had something sweeter. The only part that I didn't like was the use of a tortilla wrap. I wish it was a turkish flat bread or something more unique. - Durum doble (5,30 euros)- My hubby had a mixed meat in this wrap. He said that the meat was good, but not the best that he had. Regardless, the meat had good flavor since it was freshly cut from the spit. It's a good and cheap option if you are along Calle de Hortaleza. read more
