Historic ruins [Lörrach, Germany]…read more I love castles. And I actually enjoy seeing castle ruins rather than a glammed up castle. The informative signs around the ruins were all written in German and so I had to use Google translate to get some insight on the history of the castle. There is quite a hike up top. The ruins is situated in the foothills of the Black Forest and is very close to the city Basel in Switzlerland. It's pretty cool because when we climbed one of the towers you could see panoramic views of the natural surroundings and the nearby city of Basel. Very scenic. We walked the perimeter and tried to venture every nook and cranny of the castle. Wear comfy shoes and be prepared to climb stairs especially when climbing to see the view from the two towers. The ruins featured defensive structures and architectural vestiges. Visiting these ruins is an opportunity to learn about an important historical monument in a natural setting. This is ideal for those interested in medieval history and ancient defensive walls. The museum offered interesting reads and exhibits. Review #4074

There is also a beer garden on the grounds for a beer, wine and/or bite to eat. The views at over 1,200 feet are spectacular! Switzerland, Germany and France on a clear day.
