After we had hired Dane he was involved in a major car accident seriously affecting one of his…read morearms. He was unable to work for several weeks. It was apparent he was in serious pain and I'm sure this affected his mood. We tried to take this into account in our negotiations and working relationship for this project. While we wish him a speedy and complete recovery, we are sorry to have hired him. That being said, don't hire Dane White and Perfect Curb - it will be more trouble than it's worth. Dane isn't cheap, he isn't respectful and he doesn't take adequate pride in or responsibility for his work. Your excitement and anticipation will be eclipsed by stress, difficult negotiations and disrespect - with no more than average results. He didn't seem at all concerned about, or motivated by, the possibility of a negative review. So here's mine. We hired Perfect Curb to widen our brick path and re-do our asphalt driveway with crushed stone. We wanted the same contractor to do both, so the brick and crushed stone surfaces would meet and integrate smoothly. I was extremely excited about this project and really looked forward to the end result. Communication with Dane, though good at first - was difficult from the time we signed the contract. Though we had met with him a year earlier and assured him we would be working with him and sent our deposit and contract in soon after we received it, he claimed we took too long and immediately scheduled other jobs before ours, delaying the start of our job by several weeks. Our job was finally started over six weeks after its initial start date. When asked what specific stone he planned to use, he replied slowly - and vaguely - sending us on several long trips to stone yards, one of which was to look at the very type of stone we'd specifically asked him not to use. Getting answers to these basic questions was like pulling teeth and did not inspire confidence. When Dane finally began the job, he was clearly in a rush and refused to pause his heavy equipment for any discussion, creating a mind-numbingly noisy atmosphere of confusion and pressure. He miscalculated the design of the driveway and couldn't figure out how to solve the issue of brick meeting the crushed stone - the main reason he was hired. When my husband made a suggestion, he snapped at him - but ultimately used his suggested solution. Far from being gracious, he had a truculent attitude - insisting my husband agree to pay extra if we didn't like the outcome. Unbelievably, Dane blamed his driveway miscalculation on me - he argued with me, insulted me and then never apologized. He took no responsibility at all for what was clearly an unacceptable and poorly planned installation. He added the wrong type of stone to the area of the driveway he corrected. When asked to address this, he put a thin layer of the existing driveway trap rock over the top of it to hide the mistake. It revealed itself on closer inspection after Dane had already received payment in full for the job. We had to stop payment on our check in order to get him to come back and correct this mistake, along with another incomplete installation of the brick under the porch steps. While we now have what we believe is a decent installation, it will take a long time to feel good about it as the process was filled with poor communication, bad attitude, rushed work, lack of pride in the work and a lot of nickel and dime-ing.

I was recommended by Carefree small buildings to go through Justin for a rock pad needed for a…read moreshed. This was absolutely one of the worst experiences I've had in terms of customer service. Initially, Justin was near impossible to get ahold of, to the point where we neared the delivery date of the shed and strongly considered picking someone else to lay down the rock pad. We finally heard back and decided to give him a shot solely because Carefree recommended him, and overall we were very happy with the way Carefree treated us. BIG MISTAKE. Fast forward to the week of shed delivery. Justin came and laid the pad a day or two before the shed was delivered (we had called originally about a month and a half prior because building the shed would take 4-6 weeks). He ripped up our lawn driving around his tractor and promised to come back the next day to clean it up. He didn't come back to fix it until awhile later. Also, the job looked like something I could have done with my own tractor and some rocks from Home Depot... When my husband paid Justin for the job, he was up front about our disappointment with the lack of communication and not showing up when he said he would. He also communicated our disappointment with the job overall. Justin voiced understanding at the time. We had asked him to fix the edges of the pad and to add more rocks as he had been contracted to make a pad 1 foot bigger in all directions than the shed. The shed was delivered June 7 and today is exactly one month from that date. While he came back and fixed the edges (at 9pm one night in the dark, spent 10 minutes on it, didn't come when he said he would or tell us he was there - we have cameras outside the house) he still has failed to deliver the rocks that were promised. I regret ever paying him. He is now entirely unreachable and ignores any attempts from me to contact him. I was never nasty, never used foul language, simply pointed out his unprofessional behaviors and asked when he would be fixing the pad. I tried going through Carefree- they told me I am not the only one who has complained and that Justin has been taken off of their recommendation list- but they were not able to help much since this is a separate business. Absolutely do not recommend this company at all, you can 100% expect to be very disappointed with the results.
