Finishing up our garage renovation we decided to get a some new outdoor lights. Unfortunately contractor found some damaged wires in our attic. We recently had a rat problem and had them "evicted" by pest control, but I guess those bastards chewed up the wires. I can't say enough about Chris at C-Jays Electrical Service. Chris installed a Tesla Wall Charger recently. I received 5 quotes from highly rated electricians through the Yelp bid process. C-Jays was competitive although not the cheapest. However, their bid was presented in a formal quote that detailed all the work that would be performed. All other bids were just text messages via Yelp that provided minimal details about the proposed work. Two bids were for inflated jobs at drastically higher costs. After accepting the quote I was sent a calendar invite for the agreed upon installation time. I received an automated reminder notification about 1hr prior to the scheduled installation stating Chris was in route for our scheduled appt. Chris was on time, friendly, and took time to explain exactly what he'd be doing. He also described the estimated time for the install and the type/length of electrical shutdowns needed. I expected that the main breaker would need to be shut off for some period but Chris explained that it wasn't required. The interruption was minimal with just some lights being shut off temporarily. He was very accommodating for the placement of the charger and concerned with making the install aesthetically pleasing while maximizing functionality. He worked efficiently while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship. He went above and beyond all my expectations and even expertly patched the drywall and broom cleaned the area. I truly cannot recommend Chris enough-- I wish he was in ALL trades because the work he does as an electrician is with such integrity. He is an extremely efficient communicator, hard worker, and thorough with the job. He always responded to my texts and explained his work so transparently that I wasn't worried about quality. But really, what blew me away was that even when Chris' work passed city inspection and his job with us was officially done, he came back out on his own time to walk us through a bit of trouble that my separate, general contractor tried to pin on us. That is a sign of someone who stands by their work but also someone who cares about the work they do for you. I didn't expect him to drive back out to us since we were out of the way, but he did so on his own, and honestly that's pretty amazing. 10/17/22 inquiry. I reached out to Chris to schedule an estimate on running a new 30AMP line to the opposite side of the house for a new wall oven unit. We scheduled the meet and greet. I found him to be very knowledgeable for his craft, great personality and did not give unnecessary marketing of other work to be done. I appreciate a straight shooter. Chris informed me he would get my quote out later in the afternoon due to his upcoming Halloween vacation. He asked me to review, think about it and hit him up for questions. He will get back to me after his vacation or his partner can help. I got a couple other quotes while he was gone and did not find anyone near his level of professionalism. They were not but just gave me different vibes. When he returned, I emailed asking if we can decrease the AMPs to 30 which is the oven requirement. He took the time to explain why he only does 40AMP for kitchen wall ovens. Travel distance of wire, do not overload the electrical unit running on max and as the unit gets older, it will use more electricity. If that happens on a 30amp, it will burn out and will leave me back to square one (non working electric). It made a lot of sense and my husband and I agreed to proceed with the 3K install. Unlike other vendors, he offered to paint my conduits since it was running on the outside. I greatly appreciated this due to a picky HOA neighborhood I live in. We set a date over the phone. When the date arrived, we ran into a hiccup that he didn't pencil me in. He was VERY apologetic and offered to come split days. Instead of two 1/2 days, he was able to get it done in one with a crew of 3 (including himself). I saw them set up nice and neat night at 730am sharp, and when I got home at 4pm, everyone was cleared out as if nothing had happened. Clean work space in the garage and house. No extra trash in the bins. He sent me updates throughout the day and final photos of the work done. I walked on both sides of the house and was just AMAZED at the workmanship. Granted I have no clue what the attic looks like but the parts that matter for aesthetics were neatly and beautifully done. Both my husband and I we're very impressed. Though we had a minor hiccup with initial scheduling, everything before and after that was seamless. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Chris and his crew for electrical work. Called C-Jays after having partial power to the house and some flickering lights following a power outage. He was able to send someone out the next morning to look at the issue. If you ever need an electrician, call Chris. He is very professional, knowledgeable, and thorough with his work. Our oven, microwave and fridge went out. I called Chris and told him the problem. He then had me take a picture of our electrical panel and send it to him. After receiving it he talked me to how to switch off and on the breakers to see if the problem could be resolved (who does this so that I wouldn't have to pay for him to come out if it gets resolved). Since that didn't resolve the issue, he then scheduled an appointment to come out that very same day. He analyzed the problem and did an excellent job replacing the bad circuit breaker. He also checked the outlets that were on that breaker and changed some of them. Two were changed to GFCI to bring them up to code. Now, the appliances are working thanks to Chris. We were having issues with our electrical system and knew there was a short somewhere. We called C-Jays and before he came out, he had us try a few things on our own, so that we wouldn't have to pay the service fee for him to come out. I thought that was awesome!
