There's a particularly…read moreeye-catching bakers shop (hard to drag yourself away from that one!), a great second hand bookshop (lots of bargains in there especially in biographies), a photographers, gift shops and a lovely flower shop. On the far side (opposite end from College Street) the arcade opens out beside the Co-op and car park. The arcade used to be much longer but sadly one end was lost in a fire years ago.

My husband bought a good quality shower proof coat, a zip-up fleece and matching hat, for £24 altogether! Apart from clothes there are soft furnishings and table lamps at the back of the store. The best thing was the great service - the lady at the till was very friendly and chatty and gave us some tips on which cafe to try afterwards! I'll definitely be going back to this branch of QS sometime to buy some clothes for myself!

Its compact nature means it does not stock clothes and things you may find at the larger extra stores. The store is always quite busy but for the most part there is always room in the car park. There is also a petrol station here. Staff are friendly and helpful and all in all I wouldnt hesitate to shop here.

To me personally I dont rate the store very highly as the limited range means I dont get to try as many new things. Staff are friendly and helpful and generally the store is well kept and clean. As this is the only store around it gets very busy and the car park can fill up very quickly.

Maybe we expected too much but we didn't have any other issues in any other shop.... As soon as we walked in the owner was rude and didn't seem interested in the wedding itself at all, didn't ask any questions about the wedding, groom or anything, only the date. She asked the bride if she had an idea of what she wanted, to which the bride replied "she wasn't sure and didn't know, she was trying to find a style that suited her" the bride had insecurities of her body and wasn't sure what would look best. The owners abrupt response was "let me stop you there, you're not looking for a style you're looking for a dress". Now I could see her point but the way it was said and put across was extremely rude and unprofessional!! My friend became anxious and didn't really know what to say. A few of us picked out 3 dresses for my friend to try on, there was no touches like Prosecco or even a smile really. The assistant seemed lovely but very shy and seemed scared of the owner. We were in the shop for less than 30 minutes and the bride tried on about 5 dresses! The owner didn't do the "wild card" dress as we were made to believe, and they kept putting the same type of dresses on her. The assistant threw them on and off of her which scratched her. The bride went to turn to the bridesmaids when the owner said "no need they can see you in the mirror" absolutely ridiculous... they didn't add any accessories to any dress to give the full picture. They rushed the appointment to which everyone felt uncomfortable. The bride asked about sleeves and the owner kept putting the same sleeve on her, we asked to see different ones and the answer we had was "we have over 80 styles" and yet still only put the one sleeve type on her. She was damn rude, made comments about her budget and kept pushing her to buy. I understand the sale technique of "we only have one so buy it now" and maybe the bride would have if she had a better experience. This was her first experience trying on dresses and she was very nervous, this didn't help and completely put her off of wedding dress shopping. Thankfully she attended a few other shops that made much more effort and made her feel at ease. I do not advise attending this shop as we travelled over an hour for this shop and it was not worth it!! The owner is rude and seems extremely dominating and her way or no way. The assistant however seemed lovely but looked too scared to step out of line and have her own opinions.

She snorted at me when I was explaining the type of dress I was looking for, and stated 'never heard of such a dress??' We were made to feel about an inch tall. Terrible customer service. I did try one on, which I loved! But couldn't bring myself to purchase this dress, because I simply would rather give my money to a shop with a friendly welcome as we walked through the door. Just goes to show, even winning awards for bridal design, it still doesn't compensate for being made to feel special when your looking for the dress of your dreams. Unusually there is a limited display of stock but you then realise you are wonderously surrounded by a an endless wall of shoe boxes, containing, as it turns out, a superb range of footwear for men women and children. I was shown 8 different pairs of slippers, all complying with my general stipulations, requirments and in my size, which were effortlessly presented to me in such a way that choosing 2 differing pairs was soon accomplished. We left the shop singing the praises of both the owner and her staff.

I would say they certainly have more than your average corner shop and trade just above this level. They stock fresh bread daily and all the other usual items. My only complaint here is that sometimes you have to que for some time especially if someone in front of you has a large order. There are rarely more than one serving and whilst there isnt always the need sometimes it would be helpful and appreciated. All in all the supermarket is a welcome addition to the area and offers the residents something a little better.
