I went into the attic and accidentally stepped on the drywall ceiling. Two pieces fell, a 48"x22'" and a 9"x24" (see attached picture). Chris quickly sent me a very reasonable estimate that beat other local companies. He arrived a few days later right on time. It took him ~3.5 hours to patch the holes and match the texture. We ripped a built-in desk out of a closet and removed all the hardware in order to open up a bed room more. This left the walls with holes and damage everywhere from removing the wood. I'm in the process of making a garage into a home gym and was at the point that everything was insulated and ready for drywall installation. I had already picked up the drywall itself and was in between doing it myself and hiring someone to do the job for me. I gave Chris a call to really just get a ballpark of what the cost typically looks like to asses if I wanted to pay or save. His general rough estimate of what garages typically cost to drywall was a little higher than I wanted to spend so it was enough information for me to lean towards doing it myself. When I didn't get him the pictures of the job he actually called me back to request to stop by and look at the job to give a more accurate quote. Let me tell you, in all of the contractors and specialized fields I've ever worked with - none of them have ever reached back out to me to secure the job. I know it should be the norm but because it isn't - I took notice of this and happily had him over to take a look. After some conversation Chris provided me a few different options he could do and one of them fit better into a price point I was comfortable paying to save my time. We had met on a Friday I believe and he started the job on Monday - showed up early and started his work. It took him 3 1/2 days to complete the entire job. He was courteous and professional - closing up our gates each time he left and left virtually no mess behind. When I look at the job he's done - I think of all the time I've saved and think that I probably wouldn't have landed close to the look he's been able to provide. He provided me some guidance at the end of the job on what type of paints to seek out and provided me a contact for a local paint shop that could be of interest to me. When I had some water damage to a small area on my ceiling, the bigger contractors in my area (Livermore) didn't want to help me out, as my repair job wasn't big enough for them. Chris, the owner of C. Kaye Drywall here in town, literally called me within a couple of minutes of my placing an inquiry via Angie's List... and came out that afternoon to give me a repair quote! I was so impressed with Chris that I hired him on the spot, and he started the work the very next day! He showed up each day on time, as promised, and completed the entire repairs in less than a week, while taking his time to do things right. He even noticed that my fire sprinkler cover had fallen off, in a very high area over the stairway (an area totally unrelated to the repair work he was doing for me), and he offered to bring in his scaffolding to reinstall the sprinkler cover for me (as well as install a new LED lightbulb in a nearby ceiling fixture), all at about 20 feet high above the stairway!
