He delivers all babies himself except for a few nights a week where hospital OBGYNs cover for him, which he explained to us at the beginning. When I went into labor it was one of those nights and he still showed up with his big smile when I got to the hospital at 6am (one hour before his "shift", on a Saturday morning and right in the middle of the Covid-19 outbreak!- we were impressed). He is very kind and sweet and has great bedside manners. It was my first pregnancy and he listened to all of our concerns and explained everything with patience. He knew my name (and my partner's), my medical history, and you could tell he really cared about my wellbeing. Ultrasounds are done in the same practice before of after your regular visit so that's definitely convenient. For blood work,they have a Quest lab literally next door! The staff is just awesome! I have never seen a more effective staff in a medical office ever!!! I was mainly dealing with Daisy (she is just amazing) but everyone else is also very nice. Every time I called the office I got a response or a call back within the hour!!!No matter the issue (an email with a doctor note for work, information for my insurance, faxing referrals, questions for the doctor... anything!). They always call you back with any results, and explain stuff to you carefully. The practice uses the "my chart app" - very useful for appointments and records. I appreciate that they make an effort to know you and call you by your name so you definitely don't feel like "just another patient ". During delivery you could see Dr A.S is experienced. He is calm, reassuring, encouraging and very human. He really made me feel comfortable and safe. You can tell he cares about you and your partner (making him part of the event and giving him instructions that were definitely useful to help me). He was with us on a Saturday from 6am to 2pm (when the baby was born). He said he would come back to the hospital before we were discharged to check on us and he did twice!(Specifically during the weekend- this is what I call dedication and caring). I also love his approach to birth, as natural as possible (no inductions, unnecessary c-sections or episiotomies) but following the highest medical standards. I asked them to please not speak to me this way, and both the first girl and "her boss" were incredibly rude and defensive. As someone who works in hospitality and sees many doctors, this treatment is completely unacceptable and drives me to want to find a new doctor, in which I am not afraid to call their office. Listen - if you don't want me texting the dr, then please be nice on the phone. The hostility is really inappropriate. I'm not a huge fan of "the customer is always right", but it frankly made me want to record the conversation to play back for them. I had gotten used to monthly period pain and heavy bleeding --I have a very high pain tolerance. I had also gone through two previous surgeries, 10 years apart, to remove fibroids that kept coming back. Last year, something changed. I started having sharp flank pain traveling toward my ovary and radiating down my leg. It woke me up from sleeps. Walking hurt. Sitting hurt. Sometimes my lower abdomen felt freezing, other times burning. An ultrasound showed a 6.2 cm blood-filled cyst covering my right ovary. That's when I decided that if I was going to have surgery again, I wanted the best surgeon I could find. That's how I found Dr. Seckin. At my first appointment, he carefully listened to my history and symptoms. He asked very specific questions that connected other symptoms I was experiencing that I had never thought could be related. Because of brain fog, I remembered additional things later and shared them with his team. They added everything to my file, including my allergies and medical history. Before my scheduled surgery, I ended up in the ER with severe pain. They initially suspected ovarian torsion and scheduled emergency surgery that day. Phone:(212) 627-1222 When women choose a OB/GYN, they should be pretty picky, and I went to Dr. Simone for two years paying out of pocket (my insurance was not in her network) because frankly, she's worth the money. She does not overbook, which is almost a shame since the view from the waiting room window while you recline on the leather couch is gorgeous (Lower Manhattan south). Her receptionist, Yahira, is as amazing as the view. Also, she might be the most efficient and helfulp women I have literally encountered in all of medicine. Once in the office, you sit and talk to figure out your needs before there is any physical examination. She takes notes on what is going in your life to try to get a better idea of how any treatments can help or if you have any risk factors. While she can be a little bit invasive compared to other doctors, this will only be to your benefit. Frankly, I think it was the sheer lack of concern from my doctors in the past that left me so confused when she actually wanted to talk for 20 minutes before the physical. The physical is thorough and not at all awkward (as not awkward as an internal exam can be...). There is a fertility goddess decoration thing I could live without, but other than that, the exam rooms are pristine. Lastly, many women use their OB/GYN's as their primary physicians these days and recently she was indispensible to me in that regard. Basically, if you're new to town and/or tired of cold/creepy/impersonal doctors, I could not recommend her more.
