In Padova, there is not much variety in regards to food options close to the train station. You are forced to walk a good 15-20 minutes to the center before you can pick from different options!
My friend and I were visiting the city for the day and found Ca' Pelletti to get some lunchtime nourishment before continuing on as tourists.
Surprisingly, this place had ample vegetarian options. In the "dall'orto" section of the menu (usually this means garden so related to veggies, haha), I was able to find "Il Gratinato Alla Romagnola", which is essentially an au gratin dish with veggies that included the notorious eggplant and zucchini combo (Italian cuisine is enamored with my least favorite vegetables, LOL), but it also had pepper and nuts, all mixed together in creamy squaquerone cheese sauce!
It was filling and delicious, of course. The price wasn't that bad either, but beware of the coperto (2 euro dine-in charge). At least you don't have to tip! read more
