I've recently had two sets of family members stay at the hotel while visiting me in Barra. First set stayed in standard room, king bed with extra day bed. It was clean, nice beds & about average for Mexico. The only perk was a coffee maker for which you had to walk over to the office & pay 35 pesos for the coffee for the pot in your room. A first for me.
Second family members stayed in a 2 bed, 2 bath villa along the canal. It had a kitchenette with good sized refrigerator, no ice cube trays, oven & stove, but nothing to light the burners with. No microwave, but a few dishes & various pots & pans. It wasn't supplied with any materials for cleaning, no dish soap, sponge, dish rag or towel.
The bath rooms had been recently updated & were very nice. King size bed & day bed both decent mattresses.
The grounds are very pretty as are the pools. There is no pool side service, but there is a swim up bar it looks like they open in the afternoons. The restaurant looks out at the pools and is generally deserted. Service is very slow & I the food is okay, kind of marginal, but convenient if you don't want to walk or take a cab a short distance to town. read more
