The teacher is known for getting away with bullying the kids. My daughter went to asked her for something for another teacher and she embarrassed my daughter and made her apologize to her class for what another teacher asked her to do. On top of that she told students in her class that my daughter might not make it to the 8th grade after she left and my daughter has not even had this teacher ever and doesn't know her. fyi my daughter is on honor roll. also told her boyfriend that was in her class to find another girlfriend. All for this one incident of my daughter asking her a question for a teacher. (If she has volleyball from Saturday school) I'm beyond livid and hearing all the other reports on her of making kids do things that make them uncomfortable for her comfort of embarrassing them. I like this school but then keeping teachers like this just shows what else can be slowly uncovering. Honestly taking a lot out of me to not approach the situation accordingly. I was always teaching my daughter no bullying and be kind but my least worry should be a teacher. Gonna take this further up to see if all the incident reports can be dealt with accordingly.

My son loves CAC (he attends a different campus), but I need to write a review for this place, as…read morehe has special needs and I often travel to this location since it's the main campus. The issue I have with this location (and all its campuses) is that administration has terrible communication and accountability. I'm listed on my son's special release forms to be present if he requests it, and though I only go as needed and upon his request, the campus officials will tell me I can't be there (even though the forms clearly give me permission). I'm not there to be nosy or interfere. I'm simply there for the reason my son requested my presence and has given me and the school written consent. For accommodation requests, this has always been an issue where he'll schedule an appointment, go over the accommodations he needs, and receives an email a few days to a few weeks later, saying he needs to send in paperwork that has already been submitted. Not only that, but his teachers at his campus have said repeatedly they haven't received his accommodations, and emailing/calling the main location doesn't do much good because no one seems to communicate. I will say also that Jen in Accommodations is very sweet and thorough--I just wish I knew why her email wasn't shared with the rest of the department when it came to his paperwork because it was never submitted. When the social worker from the state came with him to help him with his accommodations and he filled out written consent forms for her as well, the staff at the Maricopa campus were rude and unhelpful to her, telling her they wouldn't speak to my son with her present. After repeatedly going in person, the staff told him he was set to go but never gave him an award letter, and wouldn't give him information upon request. There aren't a lot of options when it comes to classes, and because of low enrollment even for basic classes for core requirements, they end up cancelled. If you're seeking affordable classes, this is an okay option, but not one I'd personally recommend (and I say this as someone who attended a junior college in very rural, backwater East Texas with even fewer options). I will say that when I do bring him here, and he goes in to set up his appointments, the front desk staff go out of their way to help him, and he never has complaints from their assistance, even if they can't necessarily resolve the issues. Classes are often mixed up on his schedules or cancelled outright without notice, and he often has to come to this location just to receive answers, but he's happy. I write this as a parent of a special needs child entering adulthood, and I want to make other parents aware that this college has some severe communication issues, but does try to be helpful. It's a bit tough to navigate, but they do have locations in the smaller towns that may be beneficial to your children until they prepare to enter a 4 year university. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone unless you want to retake classes repeatedly and have permanent failures on your transcripts because staff can't do their jobs and refuse to coordinate or communicate. Go spend your money on a better school with quality staff.

I write this with experience and high expectations brought from great schools my kids previously…read moreattended in Phoenix. My daughter attended ALA since 2021 after relocating to Pinal county I must say this has been the worst school experience. I strongly agree with the other review someone posted stating this school is ran like a business. 1st communication is HORRIBLE. Last school year was the icing on the cake. My daughter's class went through 3 different 5th grade teachers. Students behaviors were out of control and a lot of the students regressed academically. When they finally got teacher #3 mid year it was difficult to communicate with her. I sometimes copied the principal and assistant principal on my emails to her and still sometimes NO ONE would respond not even the principals. There were incidents that would happen involving my daughter and another student and I would receive no notification about it until my daughter told me. This other student my daughter had a number of incidents with and this student didn't only have issues with my daughter she had issues with a number of other students in the class but the school never did their part to remove the problem student. Another thing I've noticed is the teachers my daughter had over the years are parents of multiple children of their own who don't seem to have a lot of time for anything else outside of their teaching hours. One time I had a teacher rush through an after school phone conference because she had to take her child somewhere. One teacher had really bad attendance due to always having sick children, one teacher told me she couldn't do ANY conferences after her working hours ended at 3:30pm. Just no flexibility for being a full time working parent myself. Their testing methods here have changed recently and it's a very inconvenient process now. All tests and quizzes are done on Chromebooks in class so once a test is completed my daughter never got to see it graded to know what topics she wasn't grasping or where she needed to improve. They just got a grade. I was told there is no way to get testing results. Another example of this place being ran like a business without the parents or students in mind. Another thing is I have NEVER known a school to investigate an incident, interrogate and discipline a child THEN notify the parents after everything is said and done (IF/when they decide to notify you). My husband has tried to arrange time to come to the school to speak with all parties involved after a incident and see camera footage but apparently they don't allow that and any time you want to come in to speak with the principal about anything you have to schedule a appointment. Again sounds like a business My daughter has described some horrible school lunches from here and she is not a picky eater. Don't rely on the lunch menu calendar either because it's a 50% chance they'll serve something different or run out of what they were supposed to serve. No veggie options either. The after school program sucks. It's just as dysfunctional and ghetto trying to get in the building after hours with no one answering the door. Very little supervision, no structure. As a result we decided to move my daughter to ride the bus after school. I will say the bus driver staffing has gotten a lot better over the last school year but just know there are times you will receive a text notification stating your child's bus route is canceled for the day if there is no sub driver available. School events are chaotic and dysfunctional. This is a small campus with an overcrowded amount of kids so overcrowded that the entire 6th grade has moved to the high school. (My daughter's class had between 30-35 students). Every event is over crowded with no type of organization as to what's going on. Oh and by the way it is out of their dress code violation for any male student to have long hair which I find very sexiest and a form of discrimination.. so glad my son won't have to go through this!

Each of the stations we visited were enlightening, educational and fun. We took a walking tour through a corn field, and even rode on seated trailers pulled by tractors through the facility. If you are a teacher, I'd highly recommend taking your students on a field trip to the MAC.
