I started working with Sylvia in 2014, I was young back then, 35 ish. If you're middle aged and you've had the same piano teacher for 10 years, chances are she's special. Sylvia is. She knows adults require a different touch than most of her kids, that they have different learning curves, likely have a higher degree of comprehension, maybe a little less time to commit, but, for certain show up every week because they want to make music. Our daughter had been learning piano since she was three years old. Unbeknownst to us (neither my husband or I play the piano) she wasn't learning the fundamentals of piano. She could play a tune but she couldn't read her notes. We were concerned to say the least. Then, we found Ms. Sylvia and talked to her over the phone. She kindly took the time to patiently listen to our concerns and told us how we could help her build upon and correct some of the bad habits she had learned before. She really eased our minds. Well, it's been 5 months since our first meeting with Ms. Sylvia and the difference in our daughter's abilities is as day is from night. I'm so glad I found such an amazing piano teacher! I've been getting lessons from Sylvia for a few months now and she's been extremely helpful, patient, and professional. Growing up I've always wanted to learn piano, but I just didn't have the luxury to do so and once I had the time I just felt too old. But one day I was just decided to take lessons regardless of my age and I'm so glad I came across Sylvia. She didn't judge me and was patient (i'm very forgetful). Lord knows I've made so many mistakes in my lessons lol. Sylvia didn't pressure me to hurry up but let me go at my own pace which i really liked. Once my daughter is old enough I would love for Sylvia to teach her. If she can be patient with me, I know she'll make a great teacher for my young one. sylvias the best piano teacher, ive been in lessons with her since i was 12 and i dont think theres anyone better to have as a teacher.

My 9 year old son has been taking lessons for a little over a half year with Sylvia, and he greatly enjoys having her as a teacher. He is a beginner player and Sylvia knows how to connect with him and make learning fun. She is very patient and can teach technique without being overly strict. I hear him giggling sometimes during lessons as Sylvia teaches him in a way he can remember. She keeps his interest by letting him choose the style of music and pieces he likes that are a little challenging but at his level. Because of this, he enjoys practicing on his own. We think Sylvia is a wonderful teacher and would highly recommend her to anyone interested in taking piano lessons! read more

She is also flexible about the amount of piano homework that needs to be done per week since she understands that school kids will have other obligations beside piano practice.
