This splendidly traditional coffee and sandwich shop is a real haven in the most grotty stretch of Broadmead shops. With its dark woody interior, pretty tables and chairs, mirrors, pictures and classic tea trays, it would be very at home on an old postcard. It can get quite packed during the lunch rush hour, of course, but there's plenty of room and lots of seating throughout and some outside on the pavement. Hot jacket potatoes with lots of different fillings, great sandwiches, cakes, fruit; it's all spread out for you to choose from - you fill your tray and then take it up to the counter and pay, so it's actually quite a quick and efficient process. You don't really have to do any ordering at all, and there's none of that frustrating nonsense you get in chain coffee shops where you have to repeart your order to a different person taking the money. I'd say it's not the best place for a quiet, peaceful coffee break on your own or for a catch-up with a friend, because it's quite busy and loud. It's more the sort of place you'd come to have a quick bite and a sit down during a shopping day in Broadmead. There are quite a lot of young kids and babies in here as it's very family-friendly and there's space for buggies. Just be prepared for a quick lunch in a comfortable cafe without lingering, and you won't be disappointed. read more

They serve fresh food here at a good price. I do like their salads and jacket potatos. One thing which used to really annoy me was that they allowed smoking in the upstairs seating area! Ridiculous! I'm not gonna lie, I've fallen in love with this place!..(which is fitting considering the English translation of 'Amore'). Its centrally located in the heart of Bristol, yet slightly away from the hustle and bustle of Broadmead. The atmosphere inside (which is helped by the wonderful decoration) is authentic Italian. As you step through the door you are transported to a family run cafe high in the Apuan Alps in northern Tuscany. The decor is finished to perfection, with an incredible attention to detail. You could easily spend the best part of an afternoon enjoying a late lunch and espresso here. Its large with lots of seating, yet remains very cosy and quaint. The cafe is conveniently tucked away near Broadmead. It might not look particularly inviting on the outside, but the inside is really cozy. The only things I've ever ordered here are jacket potatoes and tea. Both are amazing. When you order the jacket potato, the men behind the counter ask if you'd like cheese or butter and warm it up on the spot. After you pay at the register, they'll bring your food and hot tea around to wherever you're sitting which is nice if you're clumsy like I am. Anyway, the jacket potatoes are never disappointing. I'm having a hard time choosing between the bacon or roasted veggie ones. The bacon is a nice savory touch over the soft bland potato, but the roasted veggies are filling and taste great with cheese. The best part may be that a lot of the potato options cost less than £4. read more

When I want a guaranteed great coffee when I'm in the center of town, Cafe Amore is definitely where I think of. It is very popular as it is, with lunch times always packed. The cafe is just what you want from a traditional Italian cafe, perfect in atmosphere and great for a quick bite, or a long restful coffee. They serve up many home made cakes, paninis, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and salads, of which I find the paninis particularly quite yummy. One thing to note here is the service- the staff here must eat a rainbow before their shift, because they are constantly happy. There isn't a time that I've come here before that they have shown any sign of irritability at all! Which is amazing, considering the number of hungry, grumpy people they must encounter everyday. I get the sense the staff are strictly prepped to provide this joyful service by the owner of this cafe, who you can see running around the joint with a bluetooth headset to his ear. How he runs the cafe works though, it is always busy and no one I've met has had a bad word to say about it! read more

Cafe Amore is a crackin' little cafe in the centre of Bristol. It is next to the main shopping centre so attracts a lot of shoppers and lunch-breakers; which means it can get really busy! I was craving carrot cake and coffee so dropped in this afternoon. Fortunately they do both, so I put my bag down and took a seat! Cafe Amore has a few tables outside that are really nice to sit at and watch the world go by. Even on coldest days of winter you will find people sat outside with a coffee and a duvet-thick coat on. Without them I wonder if it would be as popular? It really brings attention to the place and draws you in. Inside is very dark, low lit and wooden. They have old signs on the walls that make it feel older than it is - and I think it's pretty old. I've not eaten lunch here for a few years so I wont review the lunch food. The carrot cake, however, is awesome; very light and fruity. It was a real shame that it came wrapped in plastic and I lost a bit a bit of the icing, but it was still really good. The service was excellent, but all it all felt very rehearsed. It was almost too flawless in that it didn't have much personality like a smaller, newer cafe can. But again, I wont mark them down on that. The service was great. They have really good wifi as well if your a working nomad like myself. read more

One of my old haunts in my previous job, this quaint lil' independent cafe is full of office bods at lunchtime and you can see (and smell) why. The delicious waft of paninis and coffee can be sniffed from miles around! It is impossible to describe just how big the sandwiches are, oozing with fillings (the operative word is 'filling') like my favourite thai chicken, or roasted veg and humous. The panini itself was grilled before my eyes and peppered with sesame seeds and bursting with gloopy cheese and hot tomato. The staff are the friendliest I've ever had the pleasure to tip, and the coffee is hot, strong and Italian (yum). I'm especially into the decor - old tin advertising signs from the 50s and wooden panelling floor to ceiling. Café Amoré is an independent jewel in the city centre, surrounded by numerous Subways and the like. Everything about this place is amazing. The food is great and the service even better. The jacket potatoes are utterly enormous - finishing a whole one deserves a medal. The sandwiches are freshly prepared and a bargain at around £2 each, depending on the filling. My personal favourite is the Mexican Tuna - I'm pretty sure they manage to stuff a whole can of fish in there alongside the chopped peppers, cucumber and red onion. The staff are some of the most friendly I've ever encountered and they can't do enough to help. Highly recommended. read more

I actually really love this café and I've been here a fair few times with friends either just for a coffee or to grab a light lunch. On my first visit here the thing that impressed me most was the service - there was a lovely guy who served us and he was so friendly and chatty that I felt instantly welcomed and comfortable. Right, so on to the food. Café Amore offers a great range of refreshments and light lunches - but the best thing about their lunches is that they are not stingy on portions and they definitely fill you up! They do all your standard café lunches, such as paninis, jacket potatoes, salads etc - and if you are in more of a rush and don't want to sit down then you can grab a sandwich to takeaway - I personally would recommend eating in though for an enjoyable experience. I think I would probably go so far to say that this is one of my favourite places to grab lunch in the city centre - perfect for a relaxing and fun break from a days shopping, or just to catch up with a friend! read more

I don't know about you but I'm not really a fan of chain coffee shops. They pretend to have character and quirks when really they're just selling you a corporate cup of slush. In the heart of the shopping district it is nice to find an independent café like this one. The dark interior is covered in old tin signs and despite the name has a distinct Italian feel. The food is perfect to lunch or a quick snack as you queue up with a tray like a canteen. If you're having a cold sandwich or salad then you can head to a table but if you're having a hot drink or sandwich then a waiter will bring your food over to your table. The cakes and sweet treats are the main reason I love this place, as is the 'deluxe' hot chocolate with cream, mini marshmallows and a chocolate flake - yum! read more

Its distinctive interior is plastered with old advertising hoards for Sunlight Soap and Wills Gold Flake cigarettes, a time that harks back to a slightly gentler age of consumerism. The toasted paninis here are popular with the lunchtime crowd who also have a choice of lasagne, filled baguettes, sandwiches and cake With an extensive coffee menu offering expressos, lattes, cappuccino, macchiatos and the most enormous, creamy hot chocolates, it's no surprise that its' always busy in here. Service is friendly but efficient and prices are OK. I paid £2.10 for a hot choc which I thought a bit pricey until I saw the size of it! My jacket potato also came with a very generous amount of filling, just the thing to fortify you for more retail therapy! read more

One of my favourite eateries in Bristol, and the perfect place to stop off for lunch during a day of shopping. The decor is all about dark wood, retro posters and vintage signage, and the place feels really clean, welcoming, warm and - despite its large size - cosy. The service is incredible, and despite the cheap prices and self service, the efficient waiters will bring your food and drinks to your table in an instant. It also has great food, which can't be just my opinion because it's always packed at lunch time. I prefer these kinds of places to the more commercial ones as I would rather spend my money locally for local business If I can and the taste of foods are richer and more varied. This is the best place to lunch in Bristol City Centre. The service is quick and friendly, even if you only have a short lunch break in which to buy your lunch. If you have more time to spare you can hang around and soak up the pleasant atmosphere but if you don't, just grab your freshly toasted panini and run (the panini is by far the best choice!) read more

The sandwiches have huge fillings and the paninis are our favourites. If you come to Bristol and want a place to eat then make the effort and go to Cafe Amore. From the outside, this cafe looks as though it ought to be situated in Southern Italy, with it darkwood work and golden lettering. Although the inside appears to be like a canteen (and operates a canteen style service), the espresso is surprisingly good and it's good to see these smaller Cafes competing with the big boys. It was my first visit today, after hearing so many good things about this place, I decided to quickly run there in my half an hour lunch break and give their panini a go. It was shocking to find out, that they charge you 50 p for every card transaction regardless the amount.... even if you pay by debit card...., which for me makes totally no sense. It's not about the 50p, but about the whole idea. Won't be visiting again. read more
