After powering through jet lag via sugar free Red Bull, I awoke from my first sleep in Germany. My…read morefriend picked out Cafe Palaver for brunch. As we walked down an alleyway, a magical outdoor dining spot appeared and I knew we were in for a good time.
Following my German friends' suggestion, I ordered a delicacy of the country: maultaschen. The English version of the cafe menu described this dish as "big vegetarian ravioli." With five options to choose from, I went with the Heftig & Deftig/Good & Solid which featured bacon and cheese in addition to the German-style pasta. Every bite was rich and flavorful and acted as a solid jumpstart to my first full day in Karlsruhe. I washed my meal down with a Rosemary-infused water which was quite refreshing.
Overall, Cafe Palaver is the perfect place to head for a high quality meal on a sunny day. Just make sure you bring your finest hipster sunglasses to fit in ;)
