They had nice Christmas decorations up, and it looked very pleasant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] he drove out from Sharonville because their yelp reviews said they had Kona coffee. Let me tell you the coffee is a star so many times I'll go into a place and I don't like the coffee. here it is delicious. It reminds me of a place back home that we used to go to before they closed. So as far as checkboxes go, I've been checking a lot of them here they have Texas toast. They have homemade potatoes not that frozen store-bought garbage they have friendly weight staff and a lot of regulars. That's a good sign when you're looking at a breakfast spot. We have it for a skillet with the usual sausage, bacon, onions, homemade potatoes, etc. I also ordered Texas toast and the sausage gravy on the side. The food came within 10 minutes. It was piping hard and religious. We split it so they had it into separate plates, which was a very nice touch as I've gotten older. I appetite is not what it used to be so it's plenty of food to share with my wife . It came with three eggs, which was very generous. I ordered over medium and they came out. Perfect I ordered potatoes crispy and that's how they came out. Perfect. Everything was delicious. I don't normally get five stars on reviews, but they've earned it. This is a great place I just wish they were closer. It's about a 25 minute drive but it's well worth the drive Not a bad drive either. It's a cute little spot in the coffee is just delicious. I'm excited to try it for lunch as the cook Dimitri is Greek. I wonder if he makes any Greek specialties like moussaka . So let's recap delicious Kona, coffee a variety of creamers and jellies on the table red gold ketchup, and Cholula hot sauce. Prices are inexpensive. Food is delicious. We ended up here (unplanned) after the restaurant we originally wanted to go to was closed. The hostess sat us immediately and our waitress Kelley was fantastic. She was personable and gave us solid opinion when we were between menu options. We ended up with an avocado burger and the Reuben. Both were large enough portions (I should've only eaten half, but it was so good I ate the whole sandwich) for the cost. The restaurant owner was friendly and doing multiple laps to make sure coffee and waters were filled for the patrons. We would definitely return!! read more

My family and I visited here today. From the warm reception from the owners, to the exceptional service provided by Rachel, this place is fantastic! We received our food very timely and it did not disappoint. The biscuits and gravy are some of the best I have had in the region. My wife of course had her oatmeal and it was prepared perfectly. Other items that were exceptional, the fluffy pancakes, pecan waffle and the southwestern omelette. I travel throughout the country for my work and am always looking for hidden gems like this. Fortunately, I only had to travel from Valparaiso this time! We will definitely come to enjoy our breakfast here again very soon. read more

I would like to say this cafe is fantastic! I have been a patron for nearly 15 years. The food is phenomenal! The cooks go above and beyond to make great food, all the while maintaining an extremely clean kitchen. I make a point of eating here every time I return home. My daughter is thinking of getting into the food business and Dmitri, the owner, always takes time to provide empowering advice and specific baking tips to my daughter. The wait staff is really good and they have the best omelets that I have ever eaten. I'm not talking given the price point, or some other qualifying statement. I mean literally the best omelets I have ever had. When I last went, they were transitioning to new owners. They seemed like good people who are up to the task of the big shoes that they will need to fill. read more

A quaint little cafe on Main St in downtown Hobart. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is great and the prices are reasonable. Do yourself a favor and try their pancakes. I ordered the eggs and chicken fried steak. It came with their breakfast potatoes and a side of pancakes. Everything was tasty. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy. There wasn't a lot of meat in the gravy, which is how she likes it. But it did have some. The biscuits are homemade and the gravy is very good. This cafe is mainly a breakfast and lunch establishment. It's well worth coming back to try some other of their selections. read more

I've been going to this cafe since it opened well over 15 years ago. The food is excellent. The servers are devoted and hard working. My sole complaint is the owner. For many years, it was a bit of a joke between my husband and I. The owner would walk over and ask how his meal was while ignoring me. He'd converse with my spouse about all sorts of topics and brush me off if ever I had something to add to the conversation. It was so blatantly rude that I wondered if I did or said something to be off putting. It happened every time, but we both liked the rest of the family, the staff, and the food so much that we continued to go and deal with his silliness. For some reason, my experiences came up with other locals who also found that his demeanor around women was downright rude. I recently went in with two other colleagues for a lunch. The owner brought us menus and asked what we'd like to drink. I asked him what the lunch special was. He launched at me, saying "do I look like I'm wearing an apron? Do I look like a waitress?" As a relatively unruffled woman, a Gen Xer who has dealt with all manner of people in my 20-plus years working with the public as a librarian, I said "I did not mistake you for a SERVER, but since you're in the 'know,' I thought you might be able to let me in on the soup of the day." Were I a lesser person, I would be taken aback by his rude treatment. My colleagues were shocked, but also laughed as I had clued them in on how he treats women. Previously, I would have said this was, perhaps, old world behavior. European stuff. But my grandparents spoke fluent Hungarian and I was raised in a largely immigrant-based family with old-world values and I never experienced being treated like a second-class citizen. Really, how dare he address me or any other female customer with his misogynistic tone. I worry for his female SERVERS. I wish he would leave the management of this otherwise charming cafe to his wife and daughter. I hope they read this and are able to sit him at home with a crossword puzzle and a birdwatching book. If he's so miserable, he should stay home. If he continues to behave toward women like it's 1825, he should not be allowed to work with the public since half of the public consists of females. The stuffed peppers special is great, but I will no longer cater to this business untill he relinquishes its management to someone who understands that women are paying customers who warrant respect. read more

We love coming here for breakfast. Mom and Pop shop with quality food and great service. The owner is very nice and always feels like eating at home. Lunch is also very good and very good value. Cute diner type breakfast spot located in downtown Hobart, IN. Downtown offers side street parking so I hope you can parallel park. We had the pleasure of dining in for brunch on a Saturday. The place was filling up. The menu is well put together. Combinations of breakfast and lunch. I ordered the croissant and eggs sandwich. My boyfriend got the country eggs benedict. I've been to Cafe 339 several times and I have never been disappointed! It's a small location, to go with the cafe name, and that makes it fill pretty quick but the wait is never too long and definitely worth it! The food is always amazing and the staff and owners are even better! I enjoy the Brickie Bowl I'm sure I've had other meals here but I'm not sure which they were. I'm definitely not doing this spot justice with my review. But if you are ever in the area and need to a good breakfast and lunch spot I high recommend checking out Cafe 339! read more

I see I've written two previous reviews for Cafe 339, in 2011 and 2012. I can hardly believe I've been coming to 339 for 10 years, but the evidence is here. I still enjoy the atmosphere, the food, the staff, and just about everything about this place. I've been here with local relatives and friends who've traveled with me from Chicago, and everybody enjoys eating here. One of the first things that appealed to me was the decorating. The bright colors and pleasant artwork cheer me up. Just being in the restaurant feels good and lightens my mood. The menu has changed over the years. I'm a basic girl. I like a salad, an omelette, or a wrap. When I visited this week, I had a vegetable omelette. From the first bite, it was really good. The potatoes on the side were cooked perfectly. My elderly aunt, a resident of Hobart, is at Cafe 339 every couple of weeks. The staff greet her by name. Maybe that's why they're always so nice to me -- I'm usually accompanied by a regular. Who knows? For whatever reason, service is always friendly and efficient. There used to be a crappy restaurant across the street called The Bright Spot. That name was a big fat lie. The Bright Spot was terrible. The real bright spot in the Hobart restaurant scene is Cafe 339. If you're anywhere near Hobart, you should stop at Cafe 339 for breakfast or lunch. I have been dying to try somewhere new in the area and i love to support my local businesses so off to Cafe 339 we headed for lunch on my mother-daughter fun day. Upon entrance, we discovered this cutesy little diner with a greek-family restaurant touch. Sadly, the male owner was arguing with who I can only assume was his wife. She was trying to defuse the situation and I would say she did pretty well considering he seemed angry about something. The service here was very good, the food was much better than expected and we couldn't wait to bring our husbands back for breakfast or lunch or both really soon. It's unfortunate it's not closer to our home but it's close enough to make it worth while to eat. Bathroom is gender neutral and was quaint but clean. I'm not a small person so it was a little awkward opening and closing the door. A lot like stall. The pricing is reasonable for the excellent quality of food and I loved their soups the three times we have gone so far. Everything appears to be homemade and this has got to be one of the best dining establishments in the area because they are swamped at lunch!!! Worth the wait if you have the time. meh! i'm really disappointed in the food options and outdated menu. this was a one star visit, giving it 2 stars because one of the servers was very helpful trying to make my bland oatmeal taste better, and another made us laugh and was entertaining. not sure what was going on with the woman who served us, seemed new, and out of sorts. it took her over 15min to refill my coffee, and she never asked us how our food was, she did refill my partner's pepsi later. he had a philly, didn't seem like much, but he said he was full. i came here cause it boasts on yelp & online they have vegan options. but after looking at the menu i see why the menu wasn't linked on yelp. there are no vegan options, they barely have anything for vegetarians. mostly old school diner type food. apparently they don't update their menu either, it said right under the section with oatmeal that i could add potatoes or fruit cup for $1.99. it also said adding pecans, bananas, strawberries, etc. to oatmeal was only .99¢ we were charged $2.95 for potatoes & $1.99 for pecans & $1.99 for strawberries. there is NO WAY IN HELL i would have agreed to pay $9 for that bland bowl of oatmeal. when i brought it to Dimitri's attention that we were overcharged for the fruit, nuts, and potatoes, even showing him, he claimed the $1.99 potatoes were not part of the oatmeal, they were only for the items above oatmeal. even though that's not how the menu reads, i wasn't about to argue with him. then he went on some rant about the price of eggs and how they can't change their menus constantly. then asked if it was a problem, clearly trying to gaslight me. (let's see, if it wasn't a problem then i wouldn't have brought it to your attention.) neither of us even ordered eggs, so i'm not sure why that was relevant to us being overcharged. now i have to pay more for other people's eggs??? clearly he didn't care about overcharging us- ONE STAR! i'm pretty sure despite his rant, that eggs & omelettes were cheaper than my breakfast. i barely ate the $9 oatmeal cause it was so bland, more of a porridge, no recognized oats, and it tasted more of chopped walnuts than pecan. piece of advice, if you don't want to change your menu then put a sticker on it saying prices are subject to change, or there have been price adjustments. and don't put the oatmeal underneath the words you can add potatoes or fruit for $1.99. lastly, if a customer is bringing it to your attention they were overcharged, honor your price. for some reason my parter gave an unwarranted $10 tip on our bill of $31.88, he thought the other servers were nice, but the tip should have been shared with the server that was actually helpful. hopefully our server learns to be more attentive to POC, there was an older gentleman sitting near us she was being more attentive to. we are paying & tipping customers, but after that experience, we won't be returning. read more

The following review is based primarily upon customer service. First things first, I called to place a takeout order. The phone was ringing for quite some time before it was answered. When I got on the phone, the person placed me on a long hold and I was able to hear everything going on in the restaurant during that time. Finally when the hold was over, the person taking my order was splitting their attention between me and other people and thus was barely able to keep up with what I asked for. When I placed my order, I was told it would be 20 minutes until it was ready. 20 minutes later, exactly, I arrived. When I walked in, I was not greeted. Multiple staff people walked around doing a number of things bedsides greeting me. After standing there for 5 minutes, totally ignored, I flagged down a staff person and asked them to send a host/hostess to check on me. They asked what I needed, I said I had to pick up a to go order, and they walked away, came back and said my order was being wrapped up "right now". I said okay and he walked away. The same employee, likely noticing I was visibly perturbed, came back and asked for the name on my order and I provided it. Now, considering he hadn't previously asked my name I must wonder how he reported that my order was being wrapped up "right now" minutes before. I continued to wait for a while but ultimately I left without my order and was made late to an appointment because of the ordeal. As I was leaving, I heard a staff member joking about my departure, saying that he tends to have that affect on women. The flippant disregard for the loss of business does not make their case any better. I won't be making any further attempts to patronize this business in the future. read more
