The robes, slippers, and in-room coffee were all great, and we were surprised with champagne and chocolates for our anniversary, which was a memorable gesture. The blackout blinds that closed by remote were a small but luxurious detail, and the front desk staff were welcoming throughout our stay. We really enjoyed the restaurant, SILK, located in the lobby. It's a cozy, romantic spot with soft lighting and excellent service. Our first dinner there was delicious ~ we had octopus, fish, and glasses of Chardonnay that paired perfectly. We returned on Sunday for a light meal of cheese, wine, and salad. The location is quiet and peaceful, away from the busy Old Town but very convenient to the beautiful walkway along the Lake. The rooftop terrace was a highlight with stunning sunset views. We would definitely stay here again!

I booked it as a Hilton Honors member and was first skeptical, as I didn't know much about it but this place went BEYOND my expectations in every way. The hotel was immaculate, staff were all very friendly, and the rooms felt like an upscale apartment and not even a hotel. Each floor is also themed with a different region of the world, such as France, Asia, England, etc, which was cool and it was done in a very tasteful way. Good quality amenities in the rooms and our room even came with robes - I was living my best wannabe luxurious European life!

We accidentally booked a single room which we didn't realize until checkin. The front desk staff was so helpful and accommodating. First they immediately called housekeeping to prepare the room for two, and when we realized that it was going to be too small for both of us for a three night stay, they were happy to move us into a king room when it became available the next day. We left our luggage at the front desk and the bags were waiting for us in our new room when we arrived. Interactions with the front desk staff and housekeeping were pleasant throughout. We had a rental car and were able to park it in the underground garage which was a great relief. This hotel is also just next to the Thalwil train station, which has pros and cons. On the plus side, it's a fast and easy ride into Zurich HB and the city center. Conversely, if you get a room on one side of the hotel, you will hear train noise. While no one was working outdoors on the weekend, major construction noise started coming from the train station on Monday morning at 7 am. Ear plugs were provided in the room. I also liked how you could raise and lower the outdoor shutters which blocked out light in the morning. It was consistently 73 to 75 degrees F in the room and the only way to let cooler air in from outside was to open the balcony door - wish there had been a window instead because it was awkward to keep the door open all night. The room itself was well equipped with thoughtful amenities including cold water in the fridge, shower cap, sewing kit, body lotion, even a shoe horn to use during your stay. A downside is that most of the power outlets did not fit our US converter. However, all of the USB's worked and we were able to at least charge our phones and most other devices. The TVs offer a way to cast streaming services from your phone to the screen and it worked perfectly in our first room but not the second one. The breakfast assortment was impressive. Both hot and cold items and an excellent sitting area with a view of the lake. It was only free on Sunday. Fast and excellent Wi-Fi as well.

I knew I wanted to swim in lake Zurich, climb a 10,000+ hike and be close to the trains. This has all of that, but more importantly it has a staff that is super welcoming and aims to please. From the minute we arrived, which was a 3 hour train from Milan and an early one at that, they really understood our needs. They insisted we go swim in the lake, pointed us to a bit of a public but yet private area and it did not disappoint. They have fro yo in bar for those who are into that sort of stuff. The room is super eclectic, my only concern is the Europeans are somewhat stingy with their AC's and there is no control from within. Fancy auto blinds and lights hardwood floors throughout, and a nice balcony with a view of the lake. Quick elevators and some of the best cappuccino yet and trust me I've had a bunch. Yes I'm an IGNORANT American that only speaks English but they took the time to learn another language unlike me. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who's stressing over the $700 a night places in what I have found to be the most expensive European city yet of this tour and this is Country #7 on it..

Walking up the stairs to the main floor you'll see a number of booths for drinks, mingling and whatever else tickles your fancy. You see the bar outline the area with shelves of spirits, wine and beers offering a wide selection of all three. With the DJ tucked away in the corner you'll find people on the dance floor small but intimate with smoke, lights and a disco ball. Upstairs is much more intimate with table service, couches and hookah. Closed off with tarpe and such; it gives a little too enclosed. We ended grabbing a couple drafts and drinks; some drinks mixed like the Painkiller, a fruity drink with coconut rum and my cousin got a Henny neat. Our hookah split between 4 people gave us more than ample time to smoke, drink and chat. The blueberry mint flavor was pretty clean tasting more mint with a subtle taste of blueberry. I called the day before check-in due to a family emergency and spoke with Ladina. She told me I could either cancel the reservation entirely or move it out a week with no penalty. I chose to move it. About 30 minutes later, plans changed again and I called back to reinstate the original reservation, letting the staff member (Eloise) know we may only need one night. I asked whether I should change it to a one-night stay then to avoid being charged, and she said, "No problem, just let us know at check-in." I followed that guidance in good faith. When I arrived, I told the front desk we'd only be staying one night. I checked out less than 12 hours later -- and was charged for all three nights. Eloise, who wasn't working that day, now denies what she said. The General Manager, Lars Güggi, refuses to refund the unused nights, despite admitting there may have been a misunderstanding. Either I was told incorrect information and they won't admit it, or Eloise didn't understand my question and gave a bad answer. Either way, I acted responsibly and am being penalized. To make matters worse, I booked a Junior Suite for myself and my two kids, and they charged me extra just to make up the pull-out couch -- in a suite designed for more than two people. Completely unreasonable. This was a bait and switch. No accountability, no integrity, and no regard for guest experience. Do not stay here. Get every promise in writing, or expect to get charged no matter what they tell you.

I had a nice week-long stay at Hotel Linde in Baden, Switzerland…read more The good: 1. Nice location - 5 minute walk to rail station and the town center. Lots of close-by shops, restaurants, stores, bars. 2. Friendly staff with excellent English. 3. Awesome roof top bar (Panorama) with great views of Baden, and really nice waitresses - my co-workers and I loved this place. 4. Rooms - modern and clean, corner rooms are spacious (though I am told that non-corner rooms are tiny) 5. Free breakfast was OK - hot options included eggs and bacon. Good croissants and cold cuts (ham, salami, etc.) 6. Wifi Internet is fast -- though it did drop out a few times during my stay. 7. Balcony - My room on the 13th floor also had a small private deck, which was cool. The bad: 1. No fitness center on-premise. You can walk 5 minutes to the fitness center in the post office next to the rail station, but you need to pay 29 CHF per day to use it. 2. No air conditioning in the rooms. They do provide a fan, which helps -- but it was still a bit rough to be there this past week (where daytime temperatures in Baden Switzerland averaged in the high-80s F) 3. No iron/ironing boards in the rooms. If you want to iron clothes, you need to use the public iron/ironing board on the 11th floor. There is no place to hang clothes while you're ironing them there. 4. The elevators/lifts are tiny. Not a problem except during busy times, or if you're in a larger group (like I was). 5. The directions on their web site for walking to the property from the rail station are horrible and pretty much unusable. 6. No alarm clock in rooms, though staff will give you a wake up call upon request. 7. In-room hair dryer is very weak on even its highest setting and takes forever to dry hair. Bring your own! 8. In-room "mini bar" refrigerator does not keep anything cold. Getting to Hotel Linde is a bit tricky and their aforementioned website directions are crap, so here are some tips if you're arriving at Zurich airport: - TRAIN FROM AIRPORT: There is a direct train from Zurich airport to Baden, but I was given an itinerary by SBB for a train route where I needed to transfer trains (this meant hauling my suitcase up and down stairs at a different station). Insist to SBB that you want an itinerary for a direct train to Baden when you buy your ticket at the airport. - OVERALL CONCEPT FOR FINDING HOTEL LINDE IN BADEN: Once you get to Baden, you want to walk out of the rail station and towards the hill with the tunnel in it. Hotel Linde is on the other side of that tunnel/hill. You won't be able to see the hotel from the rail station. The train goes through the tunnel, and there is also a parking garage in the tunnel that runs to the left of the train track that you should walk through called the "tunnel garage." Once you get out of the tunnel garage, Hotel Linde will be across the street to your right. - LANDMARKS: Your main mission should be to find the tunnel garage. The easiest way to find the tunnel garage is to walk along side the rail tracks. Find the Starbuck's next to the rail station, and walk towards the building that says "Coop City", walking along the street underneath that passes through the building. Once you get through "Coop City" keep walking straight (train tracks will be to your right -- keep walking along the tracks) and you'll see the tunnel garage ahead of you. - EXITING THE TUNNEL GARAGE: Stay to your right in the tunnel garage to the end and follow the pedestrian-only path in the right corner at the end of the parking area in the garage. You will want to continue to stay right throughout. When you emerge you should see Hotel Linde ahead of you. It is the tallest building in the area. Be sure to check out their web site so you know what the building looks like.
