He was welcoming and made some conversation. As a starter we had Plato variado de embutidos and vitello tonato, all sousage and dried ham. Very tasty. For main we had the paella, which was very tasty, but a bit fatty. For dessert i had the copa amaretto, which indeed tasted of amaretto and the missus had the grand dessert. Every dish was declared phenomenal by all party members (including one low-carb and one gluten free eater) and the staff could not have been kinder. The waiter was always quick with a smile and the chef personally shook everyone's hands as we left. The absolute highlight, though, was the dessert. Every member ate two churros resting on a pillow of whipped cream, drizzled with strawberry sauce, sprinkled with powdered sugar, and stuffed full of warm, gooey chocolate. After eating one of the two, I shamelessly admit that I was tearing up because of the sheer quality of the food. I have never eaten a better churro and I doubt I ever will. Even better, my friend related this story to our waiter when he came by to collect our plates. He laughed for a moment, cleared the table, and returned less than five minutes later with two more beautiful churros on the house. He excused it by saying that they were leftovers, but they were both piping hot and clearly fresh. I was overwhelmed by his friendly nature and the wonderful dessert and found myself crying with happiness once more. I cannot recommend this place enough. I sincerely hope that more people visit and that each one of them tastes the churros.

The food served were definitely the traditional Spanish tapas. We had the pata negra jamon Iberico which were okay but was really hoping to get the acorn-fed black pig ham but they did not have it. Other dishes we tried were the pulpo (octopus), boquerones (sardines) served in olive oil and garlic, ham and codfish croquettes, bread with aioli. Total was about 46 EU. I really enjoyed the sardines and the croquettes but the other dishes were just okay. The place was very lively with scribbles of writings on the wall left by the patrons.

As of November, 2018 the place has been open for two years. The energetic and kind host welcomed us in, and we sat at a pleasant two-top with a view of the boulevard and passers-by. Eggs Benedict was listed as a house specialty, so we gave it a try. At €9, it was a little small (only half the size of a typical Benedict. More aptly named "Egg Benedict," it comes with just one egg, a single strip of bacon, and perfectly sauteed spinach on a single hearty piece of toast) - but the flavors were excellent. Instead of the usual hollandaise used in the US, which I find a bit bland, Bodega's serves a richer bechamel. This worked wonderfully. We also shared a €7.50 Greek yogurt and granola. Note that granola in Europe means a slightly different cereal- more like what we call muesli. Toasted and nicely flavored rolled oats with nuts and a bit of dried fruit, but without the clusters we typically see. It's quite tasty and similar to granola, but less crunchy. Good value. Coffee was typical European excellent. We had cafe con leche (coffee with milk). One of those will wake you right up. Total cost was €22. Not much more than we'd pay at a cafe at home, but far higher quality. Four stars; a great score by my standard.
