The smaller the country town, regardless of tourist interest, the worse the coffee, in my experience anyway.
Driving through Strath you are not exactly inundated with cafes. I guess there is only 'so much' you need to do to attract clientele when there is little to no competition and you're making enough money.
The main street is nice though and the river/park almost opposite the cafe offers a nice stroll even with thousands of birds monitoring your every move from the trees (this is becoming a bit of a local issue).
The service was not very country, a little cold and clinical, the cake was a little dry and one of those instant regrets upon first bite, where you think you would rather have spent the money on anything else, and the coffee bland, milky, watery, flavourless.
It was relatively busy though so maybe when not under the pump all things improve at the Bean Machine but alas I won't be in a hurry to re-test it. read more
