Found the BEST einspanner that tasted exactly like the ones I had in Seoul! This viral korean cafe instantly transported me back to Korea... tucked away in a Chicago suburb. Cafe Blessing opened in Schaumburg earlier this year and has already blown up. I stopped by on my recent trip and can confirm it's worth the hype! From the scones and drinks to the interior, every little detail reminded me of the cafes I visited in Korea. I do agree with a lot of the reviews that the scones are on the drier, more crumbly side, but I still really enjoyed them. The whipped cream makes a huge difference, and the savory ones tasted so much better after warming them up. Pro tip: get there 10 minutes before opening (or right when they open). The line is out the door on weekends! ＊Cream Top Latte $8 ** MUST GET! The cream-to-coffee ratio was perfect. I was literally sipping that cream until the very last drop. So creamy, but not too heavy or overly sweet. ＊Garlic Butter $5 * I'm a savory breakfast person, so this garlic butter scone was easily my top pick. I also loved that the garlic wasn't nearly as strong as a korean cream cheese garlic bun. I didn't even need a breath mint after lol. ＊Black Sesame $6.5 * They infused black sesame into both the whipped cream and the scone itself, so it was VERY nutty. You have to be a black sesame lover to appreciate this one though, because it wasn't sweet at all. The black sesame flavor really got to shine. ＊Sweet Corn $6.5 I saw corn, so of course I had to get it. Another not-too-sweet scone, but the corn flavor was so subtle I could barely taste it. ＊Tomato Basil $4.5 I didn't love this one as much as I expected. A cute little cafe that recently opened in Schaumburg. I've seen it all over my instagram and stopped by while I was in the area. We went during an off time, so it wasn't busy yet but as we were leaving a whole bunch of folks came in. We were so excited to try some of the drinks and pastries. The scones looked delicious, we went with some of the recommendations that the barista recommended. My favorite was the strawberry, granted I thought the pastries were a bit on the pricier side, but you can really appreciate the flavors they put in. Cafe Blessing is STILL going strong 2.5 months after open. I visited when they opened and it was already crowded! They offer a limited menu of coffee & tea drinks as well as unique flavored scones. Some scone flavors rotate but coffee has stayed rather consistent. I got the Cream Top Latte which had a heavy foam top and creamy coffee mixture throughout. For scones, I ordered the Strawberry, Lemon Earlgrey, & Sweet Corn but also tried the Black Sesame & Oreo. The regular scones were $4.50 and cream scones were $6.50. Each scone was packed with its own unique flavor profile that was spot on to the listed name. Everything tasted fresh and none of the scones were hard. I stopped by this little café after my friend spotted it on Instagram and wanted to try their scones. I decided to pick some up as a gift for her, so this is a quick review focused on my pickup experience. When I arrived around 4:30 PM on a Friday, they only had 3 varieties of scones left on the cooling rack. I picked up the matcha, the cheese, and butter, all boxed to-go. The box was cute: square shape with clear film on top so you can see through, and white so it made it easy for gifting and was presentable. Pricing was $4.50 per non-cream scone (pre-tax), which feels a bit on the higher side for the size -- they seem a bit small without the cream & toppings. Although for my purpose that day, it was fine because the scones were going to be in transit and the cream would have probably spill everywhere. I did notice that none of the scones available at the time had the creams or toppings that I've seen in their social media posts or Yelp photos, which was a little disappointing. We came on a Saturday around 10:30 AM and the parking lot was full as was the store. The line was at the door when we arrived but moved quickly. I watched the other customers like a hawk in order to snag a table. However, by the time we left (around 11:30 AM) there was practically no line and there were still plenty of scones available in all varieties. I was excited to try the matcha duo (matcha latte with matcha cream on top) and it was as good as expected. We shared the following scones amongst 3 adults and a tiny human: black sesame, injeolmi, lemon earl grey, sweet corn, choco matcha, and strawberry. I came back another time and also tried the raspberry butter scone. My favorite scone was the lemon earl grey because I liked the lemony flavor but the earl grey wasn't noticeable. The choco matcha was the only one without cream on top and was dry compared to the others and could have had more matcha flavor. In general all of the scones had more flavor with the cream but when eaten without it was lacking flavor. I hate to bring down the mood, but I thought this place was just okay. We are spoiled for choice when it comes to cafes and bakeries around here, and compared to the many other places I frequent, Blessing didn't quite earn a spot in my regular rotation. The first thing to notice is it has a relatively limited menu. One could rather say it has a "specialized" menu. Either way, we were able to try a good number of the scones and drinks on offer. For my tastes, I didn't find anything I tried here to be preferable to my regular haunts. My sister got the Duo Matcha, which I thought was good, but not a revelation like I was expecting from some of these reviews. I got the Cream Top Latte for myself. When they handed it to me, I was advised not to use a straw, and to just sip it from the top. However, the cream top blocked most of the drink coming through, like when you have too much ice and can't get to the liquid, and the liquid that did make it through was pretty bitter. So, contrary to instructions, I stirred everything up with a straw and that made it a lot better. For me, though, it still wasn't my favorite drink, being a bit too sharp and bitter even after stirring. It could totally be a preference thing, as I do prefer my coffee more mellow and sweet (though I don't like a sugar bomb). FYI, you can't sub Oat Milk in this particular drink, in case you were wondering. We also got a bunch of scones to try, and these again were not to my particular taste. As others mentioned, the scones skew dry, crumbly, and hard. I think this is an intentional, stylistic choice, and probably allows for a more consistent product regardless of how long these scones sit out behind the counter. Again, for me, this is just not the texture I like for my scones. To their credit, the scones did each have a distinct flavor profile, so it's not like they were lazy hard lumps. Just not overall what I hope for in a scone. The whipped cream on top was probably the best part, and I think the hard scone texture actually worked okay with the savory scone we tried (Tomato Basil) - it registered as more biscuit-like in the savory profile, and I guess that was less offensive to me somehow. I think the buzz here is mainly thanks to the Instagram aesthetic of the food and drinks. The presentation especially shines if you dine in, because your peanut latte will come in a glass lined with peanut shavings, and your scones will look very cute all together on the tray. That said, I was visiting with a big group, and this place was slammed at opening time on a Saturday morning, so we just took our order to go. There must have been a healthy line waiting at the door before this place even opened at 10am, because we got there pretty much at opening time and it was fairly jam-packed. We probably waited about 20 minutes in line, and to their credit, we got what we ordered very quickly thereafter (with the scones sitting out already made, that probably helps with the turnaround time). Maybe if someone else wants to come here again, I will give it another shot and finally see the light. But for now I am merely satisfied that I was able to try something new. read more

I was so determined to get these scones at Cafe Blessing, I came here two weekends in a ROW on a Saturday morning. If you are thinking about going on a weekend, be warned because legit ALL of the scones are out by noon. If you wanna try the scones, get there as soon as they open or go later if you just want drinks. The first time I went, I tried their double matcha and cream top latte. It was so so delicious. However, the second time I went I also got their double matcha. It wasn't as good as the first time? I've been hoping for more cafes in the Chicago land area that had double matcha since LA and NYC have more cafes catered toward that type of drink. Maybe I came on a day where it was busier than usual and there was a line the second time I came. I think the showstopper was the scones! I absolutely loved the scones so much. AHHH! What a great addition to Schaumburg! Cafe Blessing replaced Handsome Bakery and brought the vibe of a Korean cafe to Schaumburg. The aesthetic is simple, clean, and modern. Their pastries look absolutely delicious on Instagram. I was bummed they were all sold out, but honestly that just made me more excited to come back! My friends who tried them said they were amazing. I went yesterday with two friends and we tried their signature drinks, including the strawberry matcha latte and the dirty peanut cream latte. The strawberry matcha latte is the best I've had in the suburbs. The strawberry puree tastes fresh and not too sweet! I do wish the matcha flavor were a bit stronger, but that's just my preference as a matcha lover. I personally loved the dirty peanut cream latte- rich and creamy with a nice crunchy texture from the peanut rim. It was pretty crowded when I got there. Their espresso machines were down, so I wasn't able to try the single-origin latte, and they were also completely out of baked goods during my visit. Holy smokes Cafe Blessing is a blessing to the north west suburbs. We've been here 3 times in the last week and each time we left wildly satisfied. Cafe Blessing aces their drinks - in terms of the actual taste and the presentation. The double matcha has been our favorite so far, but the coffee drinks are also above average. The scones, baked in house, are also delicious! We loved the scallion and cheddar and jam and butter. The people that work here are super friendly to their patrons. It's a nice touch especially for a new cafe trying to create a loyal customer base. Went to Cafe Blessing on a Saturday morning shortly after they opened at 10am. There was already a sizable line waiting to order. To their credit, their service moved quickly and we received our drinks quicker than expected. They had plenty of seating, as well as a sizable parking lot to accommodate the crowd. They benefit from having a streamlined menu, with pictures of their signature drinks on the wall, and their scones featured in a large display case. I ordered the Matcha Duo Latte and my husband ordered the Peanut Latte. Both were fantastic, and neither too sweet. I appreciated the recommendation from the barista to drink the lattes as they were poured and to avoid stirring them. It demonstrated a thoughtfulness to how the drinks were crafted and meant to be experienced. To eat, we had the tomato basil scone, the lemon earl grey scone, and the raspberry butter scone. I would say that the flavors were well infused both the scones themselves, as well as the whipped topping. While the texture of the whipped topping was light, the scones themselves were more dense and very crumbly. To me, this was more akin to what I would expect from a dinner biscuit. With this in mind, I enjoyed our savory scone, the tomato basil, the best of the selection we ordered. The difference between a 4 and 5 star is only for opportunities to improve the texture of the scones since this is the staple of their business. First, I love the ambience of the cafe and decor/seating. The employees are so friendly and everyone welcomes you in. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner as well who was super nice and even took the time to explain some of what goes into making their scones. The scones were DELICIOUS!!!! I never thought I would be so excited to try so many different flavors. My personal favorite was the lemon earl grey scone. The cream on top was just too good. I drank my matcha duo so fast that I got another to go haha. It was smooth and yummy. The presentation of the drinks and the scones was impressive. I've wanted to try this spot since it opened but it was always packed to the point you couldn't get in. It was still busy on a Sunday afternoon, but we were able to walk in without a long wait. The scones all looked delicious and sounded so unique. We had a hard time making a choice but the staff was super friendly and helped us narrow down our choices. We went with the Raspberry butter scone and the Chive scone. Both were delicious. The Ube drink was so flavorful. I loved it! My husband got the Blueberry Matcha. It's a good concept but the drink itself was okay. We will definitely come back to try other scone and drink flavors. Highly recommend. read more

Cafe Blessing is truly a gem. From the moment you walk in, the cozy atmosphere makes you want to slow down and stay awhile. I tried the Americano, the Cream Top Latte, and the ceremonial-grade organic matcha -- each one was thoughtfully crafted and beautifully balanced. You can really taste the quality of the beans and matcha. The Cream Top Latte was especially memorable, smooth and indulgent without being overly sweet. And the cheesecakes? Absolutely delicious. Fresh, rich, and clearly made with care. Knowing their scones and cheesecakes are baked in-house daily makes the experience feel even more special. Very good matcha--definitely one of the best spots for authentic matcha in the Schaumburg area. I went on a Saturday shortly after they opened and it was busy, but we still got our drinks fairly quickly. I tried going back on a Sunday and another weekend and found out they were closed, which was a bit unexpected. Still, I'd make the trip again because it was that good. read more

I was really looking forward to grabbing one of their famous pastries, but it turns out their oven decided to take an unexpected break, so no fresh baked goodies were available. What a bummer, I still wanted to try something, so I asked the barista for their most popular recommendations. To be honest, the menu felt a bit on the small side, and nothing truly grabbed my attention. I ended up trying a strawberry matcha, thinking it might have a little kick. It was mostly a sweet mix of strawberry purée, milk, and just a hint of matcha. The barista did make a show of stirring it all up with this really fancy looking whisk quite the spectacle. It definitely looked super pretty, probably perfect for an Instagram photo op, But as for the taste, it was a little underwhelming for me personally. I guess it was more about the visual hype than the actual drink itself,and ironically, while I was waiting, they actually brought out some fresh pastries, but by then I'd already committed to my drink, and they weren't quite what I was craving anyway. read more

The matcha duo was creamy and delicious. We ordered the black sesame and corn scones. My husband wHi does not like sweet anything and loves corn said hus scone was very tasty. The black sesame scone flavor was very unique and had a smoky flavor and would pair well with ear grey tea. I was interested in buying the matcha tea set and matcha tea on display but there were no prices in the items. read more
