First time here today. I came for the jerk chicken but they only have jerk chicken on Thursdays and i think Mondays. So i got the stew with beans and rice and a salad it all comes together for a decent price. First of all the portions are just right. The stew was the best I had in a long time. I will be back for the jerk chicken and will be sure to get some more of that amazing stew. the flavor in the stew hit the spot. If you get a chance try this place out you will not be disappointed. A fellow employee contacted Café Connection to provide some food for a recent work event. The fried plantains were great, but I thought the jerk chicken could be a little more flavorful. However, it was nice and juicy. I haven't visited in person, but I'd love to try lots of things on its menu: the breakfast hash brown cup, chicken pesto, a curry dish, a wrap, a patty, some roti, coconut rice, and one of the specials like the beef jerk burger. My husband would definitely go for the oxtail w/ beans & rice. To wash it all down, many varieties of drinks -- coffees, smoothies, "afternoon refreshers," etc. -- are available. From photos online, Café Connection looks super clean and cool. Rasta colors, an image of Bob Marley, and a relaxing beach scene adorning the walls add to the island vibe. Besides tables and chairs, a dining counter faces the front window of the of the café, so diners may look out, people watching the world go about its daily business, which is a nice touch. And Ms. Debbie, who helped with our food order from start to finish, is the nicest, sweetest lady! read more

This place has awesome food. I go there at least 3 or 4 times a week for lunch. Their Jerk Chicken is the "Bomb". They can adjust the spicyness for you as well. Their Chicken Curry is the best curry I have ever had and that's saying a lot. It's worth the extra walk from my state job site. The owners and staff are very friendly too. They take a personal touch with the customers and try to get to know people. They know regulars by name and remember exactly what they like. They have a nice breakfast menu and the breakfast sandwich I got was reasonably priced and pretty good, but there was nothing special about it--bacon, egg, and cheese on wheat. And the really nice people that run this place talked me into a curry plate. Curry, rice, salad and a soda for under $8 bucks! And served up with such love! The curry had great flavor, but mine was tad dry and I wished that the veggie curry had more than potatoes by way of veggies, maybe some peas? carrots? cauliflower? I went there this morning with my co-worker because she heard that their oatmeal is great. I thought I would just take a walk with my co-worker to go check it out but was not planning to buy anything there. As soon as we walked in, I made a comment in front of the owner, "Wow! Your curry smell good!" The owner thanked me and asked if we like beef patties. I saw some writing on Today's Special with something about shrimp and beef patties, and I thought it would be something like burger patties?? So we answered him yes, we like beef patties. And then he brought us two pastries and cut them in halves, and he explained that those are the shrimp patties and beef patties (and they are HUGE), and liked us to sample them with his signature sauce. My eyes were like.... @_@... (hmm....those are samples?? For real?? OMG I'm going to be so stuff)... So we tried both patties, and we fell in love with the beef one already!!! I had to buy two of the beef one for tonight's dinner so my husband can try some too~ And then I saw the hot sauce he put up on the side that are for $1 each. Personally, I love anything spicy, so I was so interested into those hot sauce he has there. I asked him if he could give me a sample so I can get a taste of it, so he gave me a small spoon of it. It tasted sooooooooooooo good that the taste of it stayed in my mouth for a long time! So yup, bought $1 of it. And since we showed that we like spicy food, there he goes again bringing out another sample: Indian Spiced Chicken. It doesn't taste like any Indian food I had tried before, but I liked it that it was not as strong as the Indian food so I can still taste the chicken. I think I could see that he used tomato in it, which mixed really well with the sauce and the chicken together. You could order it as a sandwich or over rice. I requested to buy just the chicken dish with no bread or rice because I want to wait until dinner to eat it (so my hubby can just cook some fresh rice tonight and we're good to go). It comes to the total of $10.50 with the 2 beef patties, 1 hot sauce, and 1 big container of Indian Spiced Chicken. That's plenty enough to feed two people. GREAT DEAL! I'm going back tomorrow morning to try his jerk chicken~ XD ps. The owner is super duper friendly and nice! I go here 2-3 days a week. Everyday they change up the hot meals. Some days they have chicken curry, chicken stew, beef stew, or jerk chicken. It all tastes amazing and is a great value. Ken and Debbie are the owners and are incredibly nice and accommodating. Carli and the new girl (forgot her name) are also very nice. They put a lot of love into their food and it shows. They also offer sandwiches, breakfast, salads and other items. I just eat the hot foods. I can't have gluten and I (painfully) spent a while testing food locations to see which locations wouldn't upset me. Cafe Connection does not advertise or say that any of their meals are gluten-free, but I have had their hot meals so many times that I am 99.9999% sure there is no gluten in there. So I am pretty sure I can classify this place as offering gluten-free meals. read more

I was in town for 24 hours on business - the food here was so good and the service was so friendly I ended up eating here 3 times! A very pleasant surprise... I couldn't get enough of Cafe Connection. I had an hour to kill in between business meetings so I ducked in for a cup of coffee. The British Open was playing softly on a tv, internet access was free, and coffee was still hot mid-morning. My productive morning hour inspired me to return for lunch after the meeting, where I ordered a heaping plate of jerk chicken on mixed rice with a side salad. Among the busy lunchtime crowd, I got talking to the owner, Ken, who encouraged me to sample some of his other dishes - the curry chicken and the coconut and chicken soup. Delicious. After the samples, I was officially hooked. I returned the next morning for breakfast - avocado, tomato and egg breakfast taco with organic coffee. The tacos were stuffed generously. Ken could see how much I was loving the tacos so he brought over a freshly baked piece of Caribbean bread called bake with fresh cinnamon on top. A slice of heaven. After my business meetings were finished, I stopped by one last time on my way out of town for a quick lunch - a Jamaican jerk chicken burger. I put on some of Ken's homemade spicy sauce. I will admit, I haven't had a tonne of Caribbean food. This place, I must say, was a pleasant introduction. The curried chicken over rice and beans was deliciously spicy, and the salad wasn't much more than lettuce but came with a delicious Thai peanut dressing. The prices are fair, and the owner was very nice. The hired staff was rather blunt and unhelpful, but hey, they work retail. I can't be too harsh. It's incredibly convenient, within view of the Capitol on L Street. I'll be coming back on future visits to Sacramento. read more
