Breakfast Review: I…read moredo like an Indi deli. In fact I love an Indi deli. So much so that this morning, I cycled in heavy rain and a blustery wind, 17.5 miles to try out their breakfast. I was recommended this place by some of the fine people on Twitter. Their enthusiasm for the place meant I had to give it a go. It's a small shop in a group of shops on a residential road in suburban Bournville. There's no uniforms, just people that obviously care about their products and produce. That definitely included their breakfasts. Perfectly cooked bacon, (2 slices, not one as advertised), 2 sausages, a spot on golden yolked egg, a choice of plum or fresh tomatoes, great black pudding, (an extra), baked beans, (served in a separate dish), a good portion of fresh mushrooms and hand cut, crusty bread - as far as I'm concerned, a MUST for a quality breakfast - which this absolutely was. Coffee was good quality too, not too rich, just how I like it. In summary: 9/10 one of the best ones I've had. Excellent.

A spacious, comfortable and welcoming spot with excellent coffee, some lovely homemade cake/biscuit treats and lovely staff. They also host poetry workshops and open evenings and have a fine selection of books to keep readers of all ages entertained. Highly recommended and I'm hoping to become a regular visitor.

Bournville Bread Basket is a lovely independent bakery by Bournville Green. This is a chocolate box version of the 1950s. You can sit outside the front of the bread basket and overlook the beautiful Bourneville Green as you tuck in to a pretty decent cup of coffee and a hot pie. Perfect. The shops is essentially a bakery and mainly sells bread and cakes, but the hot food and cafe section makes it special for me. We often take a walk down here on a Saturday morning, or in the afternoons of weekdays, and spend a happy, relaxing hour watching the world go by. They also do a nice selection of ice-creams, so even if you don't stop for a sit it's a good place to pick up a cone.

The staff are warm and welcoming and they serve a variety of cakes and pastries. The tea isn't fabulous, but I am rather fussy about tea. However, the cappuccinos are fantastically frothy. I feel like it is a cafe where you can go and read a book for ages and they won't mind; it's quite relaxed and there are always others in there too. I am a salmon lover so it's always delightful when you find some creative meals with salmon than are not just about sushi! Well, Bohemia Cafe Bistro has a delicious smoked salmon from heaven, indeed! The veggie options are similarly varied, and I most recently enjoyed Bohemia's take on the ploughman's lunch: The ranges of cheeses and chutneys were tasty and interesting without being too strong or try-hard, the bread was fresh and particularly nice and my accompanying berry smoothie was refreshing to say the least. I thought it was a pretty standard sized café; lots of places to sit, including outside the front on nice days. The menu is fairly simplistic and has a range of drinks, sandwiches and breakfast meals. I just ordered a large cup of tea and a chocolate bar and sat down. I thought that the prices were really cheap. The staff were fairly pleasant, but did not seem to have time for any chit chat, as they were busy tidying and preparing things behind the counter. My tea was good and the chocolate bar was good too. Overall, a standard little café.
