Had a fun and fantastic delish brunch with friends just because we wanted to treat ourselves and have fun our server was so cool our champagne flutes were full the entire time ! The fresh seafood fresh meat carving station were so yummy honestly I focused on the proteins with my drink and then had a lil dessert. All the staff was pleasant and welcoming . We had an early birthday dinner for my husband at Café Sierra, located in the Hilton near Universal Studios. This restaurant features an AYCE buffet with high quality seafood. It is pricey, $159 per person, but worth it if you can eat more of the pricier items. The wait was ridiculous even though we had a reservation. We waited 45 minutes past our arrival. DON'T TELL THE CUSTOMER THAT IT WILL ONLY BE A FEW MINUTES WAIT. Someone else was waiting for over an hour past their reservation. The only thing I can think of the delay of getting seated is there was a convention at the hotel. Once seated, service was ok at best. Ambiance was festive with live music and decorations for the Chinese New Year. I was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED as they promised the traditional Chinese New Year dragon dance, but the hostess had no clue and it never happened. FALSE ADVERTISING FOR THIS EVENT AS THIS AD WAS THE DRAW FOR MANY DISAPPOINTED CHINESE IN ATTENDANCE, INCLUDING ME! The overall buffet features whole Maine lobster, king, snow, & Dungeness crab, oysters, scallops, shrimp cocktail, free flowing adult beverages & soft drinks, hot food items, sashimi, sushi, dim sum, steak, prime rib, lamb chops, pork belly, bone marrow, assorted desserts which included two chocolate fountains and scooped ice cream. Some items were seasoned perfect, others were acceptable but bland. There are many more items that I did not mention, but the offerings are extensive In the past they would have earned a five star rating, but all of the above mentioned, especially the FALSE ADVERTISING has knocked down my review and recommendations of this place. Horrible! Do not waste your time and money at this restaurant. PRICE DOES NOT MATCH THE QUALITY, SERVICE, AND AMBIANCE! Cafe Sierra is located in the Hilton hotel next to Universal Studios. You will have to pay around $40 extra for parking. Although we made a reservation, we still had to wait for a table that didn't accommodate our party. The restaurant itself is right in the middle of the lobby, and seats are extremely crowded together. There is no proper walkway to get in between tables. The pricing is extremely high for an unluxurious experience. You are less than 1.5 feet away from the table next to you and you will have to squeeze through people to get to the food areas and back to your table. Food is subpar. You might even get sick! You're paying $150 a person (post tax and gratuity charges) for not fresh seafood, tap water, and just overall not tasty food. You will find a better bang for your buck at Chinese buffets or even Golden Corral. The oysters are definitely not fresh, it has an extremely fishy taste and is not kept at a safe food temperature. They offer a sushi selection and a hand roll bar, however, the same concern applies. They do not keep their fish at a safe food temperature. They offer lobster claws, and crab legs which are cooked and chilled. I cracked open a lobster claw, and the inside was all liquid and mush. That does not signal freshness, instead it's a food safety concern. They also advertise king crab legs, however, when you get in line for them, they only give you 2 small legs that don't even crack normally (they are soft and cave in when you try to open them). The carving station was ok, the employee there was nice but the prime rib itself was not good. There's also a small Asian food section which was just simply not good at all. The highlight of my experience was the dessert section. They offered a nice range of desserts and even a crepe section. However, there is only one person working the crepes, and handing out ice cream and teas. She looked extremely stressed due to the high volume of customers. Management needs to put at least one more person there. Speaking of service, very subpar. For $150, you can enjoy plates piling up and having to call down staff to take your order for drinks. Forget about any refills, they do not come around often enough to offer refills. There is an automatic gratuity charge. Our party of 4 came out to $700. This place is not worth it. My server, Mike was attentive and I gave him a well deserved gratuity for it. There was a misunderstanding bout the additional for the beer. I thought it was $9.00 and refills were included. Then I noticed it was $9.00 per beer. Had this would have been made clear to me from the get go I wouldn't have ordered any beer at all. At 3 beers that was an additional $27.00. I am living on a small Social Security fixed income so if I am going to shell out a small fortune for a special meal it better be special! My sister and I went here for my birthday and the brunch was absolutely lovely. Everything was delicious. I am not always a fan of buffet brunch because of the cleanliness but there weren't hardly any children there to touch all over the food. If you're a seafood lover, this place is a must. Came here on Thanksgiving and for $150ish a person I think it's pretty worth trying!! Granted, all we ate were mainly the whole lobsters, king crab, and snow crab. King crab was hard to peel because of the spikes, and I think if they provided scissors it would be a saving grace. Snow crab was sweet and yummy. The mushroom half lobster was also pretty good. Ultimately the lobster and snow crab is where it's at Desserts and other stuff is meh lol The live music of the guy playing the guitar was also a vibe, but at some point there would still be strums even when he stopped playing which was questionable lol For a party of 4, we were offered mimosas upon arriving, and line was relatively short at all times (we came upon arrival). Our server, though sweet, was kinda pushy about paying the bill as he was about to leave. That was kinda weird. Parking is in their underground lot, free 2 hours or so with validation. Would come back, but only for an occasion. Decided to give Cafe Sierra another try after many years of not coming here. My mom and I had so many fond memories of coming here. We celebrated so many milestones here throughout the years. After the remodel, things have not been the same and the quality had continued to go downhill. The selection has been cut in half, and is now truly abysmal. My husband suggested that we come here for my birthday since it's one of the fancier buffets and there's fresh steamed lobster. I said sure let's go. I figured the kids would love the chocolate fountains. When we got here, things already started off on the wrong foot because the service was terrible. The hostesses in the front were not friendly, and the busboy practically shoved a high chair at us. Our server was a little better but never even came to refill our drinks. That's what happens when they say it's a "no tips" establishment and charges everyone a 15% restaurant fee instead. The staff just don't give a damn. On to the food, there was barely anything for my kids to eat. At $139 a person and $45 per kid, I was expecting a lot more. The chocolate fountain had 2 options for fruits. What a missed opportunity. The website said there's a boba station... there wasn't. The lobster was overcooked and tough. You had to request sashimi from a station and the guy gives you 4 tiny pieces. My kids literally had bbq pork buns and dinner rolls and called it a night. I know it's a seafood buffet but I was shocked there wasn't a single option of fried rice, noodles, or fries. Bacchanal is also a high end buffet in Vegas and they have soo many kid friendly options. A ramen station, pho station, etc. Their selection of juices and smoothies is amazing. Cafe Sierra, take notes. It was a Saturday night and you had one wave of diners. This place used to fill up multiple dining rooms during dinner. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the crab legs were good. I also liked the live guitar music, though it definitely doesnt feel as classy as before with piano music and an open space. Our server was nice, appreciated the white linen, and enjoyed the live music - left a tip! Crowd picks up for dinner and glad we arrived early at the begging of the dinner shift. FOOD: Well, for paying $150 a person I thought the flavors would be stronger. Maybe I am wrong for that. We thought the crabs, etc. would have taste better if grilled not that it's their thing. I had the NYE Brunch at Cafe Sierra this year and ALL 3/4 stars actually go to the Chef at the Pasta Station!!!!! He was marvelous because he went above and beyond to make sure my pasta tasted and looked delicious! Of ALL the selections available that night, including the lobster and King Crab legs, the Alfredo pasta he made was the best! Thank you for the great service! As for the other food itself, I only had one round of King Crab Legs and a scoop of ice cream. I know I did not eat my $200 worth of food that night as intended but I still had a great experience. I've had buffets there quite a few times but it def my first for NYE. My final 1/4 Star actually go to the lady behind the ice cream station. Her station had the LONGEST line and she was handling the ice cream scooping / boba making / crepe filling ALL BY HERSELF like a pro and she did it all the a huge smile. She was awesome and deserves a raise! Would I go back next year? Probably not, as there are other dining establishments in the surrounding area that are similar in pricing but includes counting down at midnight (Cafe Sierra close at 10pm). Poor rating due to the fact that they are charging for wine/beer/champagne despite their website still stating it's included with the buffet price. Drive from San Diego to try it since I've been seeing it pop up in my feed for a while. At first glance the place needs a makeover because it's a little outdated. I also thought that for the price they'd have a nicer setup and at least include some wine or something; soft drinks were included. The king crab legs were pretty small and not what I expected. The lobster, although tasty, wasn't what I expected either. When you look it up online it says is a no tipping establishment so someone should probably tell the waiter staff because he didn't hesitate to remind me that the check didn't include a tip. But we spend two nights in Hollywood city Hilton for one day at Universal Studios and one day relaxing for my baby girl's bday. My son loves seafood and he kept bugging me to eat here. It was a great experience for us. The seafood selections were amazing, prime rib, duck, varieties of asian food, crepes station, boba station, white and chocolate fondue, hand made sushi. It was a great experience. The live music also lighten up the place. Service was good. In the beginning was great and towards the end, it was a bit slow, but the place was packed. We also came here for the breakfast, and it was decent. It has signs "no tipping" policy, but at the end of our meals, they still gave us bill with pen, with "TIPS" section so we still filled it out. So I went to this place with my fiancé and a friend for Thanksgiving thinking, why the hell not? No cooking, no cleaning, no dishes, sounds like a win. The website said we could stay as long as we wanted and that it was a non-tipping establishment. Cool. Except... they still slapped on a 15% service charge. Whatever. Potato, potahto. I figured it all worked out. I'd been hyping this place up for weeks. Going to bed dreaming about how many Maine lobsters I could absolutely disrespect. The expectations were high. Then came the day of reckoning. First challenge: immediately realizing I'd need a crash course in navigating how inept senior citizens understand lines. I get it, you're old, possibly confused, maybe one foot in the afterlife, but this is not the place to test your going-upstream-salmon skills or your Olympic-level slow sniping. Pick a direction. Commit. Then there were the kids. Multiple EF-5 and EF-6 human tornadoes, ages 6-12, just raw-dogging the buffet with their bare hands. No tongs. No shame. Just chaos. With every lap, my expectations chipped away a little more. And then... the food. Chewy lobster. Dry prime rib. Slimy sushi. Turkey carver who couldn't tell white meat from dark meat on Thanksgiving. Come on. Even Golden Corral manages to get some of this right, and that's a place you go when you've already given up on life. But the cherry on top? That cozy little table of three--us--got shooed out after 90 minutes. Remember that "stay as long as you want" thing? Yeah, apparently that was just vibes-based marketing. And to really seal the deal, the waiter then had the audacity to ask for a tip... after the mandatory service charge... at the non-tipping restaurant. It's just awkward as hell to read one thing, show up expecting it, and then get completely bamboozled by a 180-degree reality check. So yeah. Next year? Chinese food. What i hate about buffet places is that you tend to eat a lot to get your moneys worth; this place is no exception but the difference is that its worth every penny. reservations are highly recommended especially on weekends. tipping is not required here --- don't you just love getting the service without the pressure? we did bring cash to tip our server though, he totally deserved it. Food that is served here is high quality, the only disappointment for me is that i can't pick the done-ness of my prime rib but everything else was super good. They have lobsters, crablegs, mussels, & oysters --- all fresh!!! Not only do they have a sushi bar, you can get sashimi and handmade rolls. I I heard from a friend that the quality has gone down over the years but I knew I had to try it for my self. The cost of buffet is now $159 per person before tax/tip. Included in the buffet is unlimited soda, tea and alcoholic beverages. Initially, the buffet seems to be heavily focused on their unlimited lobster tail and crab legs. But coming from someone who is not big on seafood, I found a lot of things I would come back for. My perfect plate consisted of the seafood paella, twice baked mashed potatoes, mac and cheese with breadcrumbs, Sicilian salmon, shrimp cocktail and bone marrow. Other sections of the buffet include: - pasta bar - prime rib and duck bar - sashimi bar And a huge dessert bar (donuts, cakes, fruits, chocolate fondue, ice cream bar, and crepe bar) Usually I really don't care for dessert but definitely could not turn it down this time when the selection is so big. I decided to get a freshly made banana chocolate crepe and that was the cherry on top to a fantastic meal. By the end of the meal, I found myself not wanting to leave .. When asked about it though, a staff member told us that the facility charge went to the owner and it has been killing business. You see the charges. Fine-Dining Prices for a Hometown Buffet Experience, and a view of nothing. Friends with whom I have a close working relationship were visiting and wanted to take me to dinner. They suggested seafood. I made a reservation here expecting a casual seafood spot. What we got instead was a hotel buffet experience priced like fine dining--and not particularly transparent about it. First clue should have been valet: no validation, but a "discounted" rate. That set the tone. Inside, the dining room feels less like a restaurant and more like a conference setup--rows of tables, bright lighting, and a fully exposed server station. There are no menus because it's buffet-only, which was not made clear when booking. Service was minimal. Drinks were dropped off with no explanation of how anything worked. At one point we genuinely asked, "Do we have permission to go to the buffet?" That shouldn't be a question at this price point. The food? Perfectly edible, entirely unremarkable. Cold seafood (crab claws, shrimp), no lobster tails, limited sushi options, and a prime rib that felt closer to bulk catering than restaurant quality. Plenty of quantity, not much distinction. And then the bill arrived. For three people, with modest drinks, the total exceeded $550. Included was a $66 "facilities fee" that was not disclosed in advance. That alone is enough to leave a bad taste. I'll be honest--this is the part that bothered me most. Although it wasn't my fault, I felt genuinely uncomfortable that my guests had chosen to treat me to dinner and were instead handed a bill like that for what was, at best, a mediocre buffet experience. There is also a posted "non-tipping" policy claiming staff are fairly compensated. However, our server quietly shared that she earns minimum wage. That raises an obvious question: where exactly are these added fees going? To round out the experience, low-fi speakers played pop music throughout the room. There's something uniquely surreal about hearing Beyoncé while eating overpriced cold crab in what feels like a banquet hall. I don't mind paying for a great meal. I do mind paying premium prices for a mediocre buffet with surprise fees and unclear policies. If you're looking for a true dining experience, this isn't it. The quality of the buffet has dropped significantly. We first came for Thanksgiving dinner in 2023 and loved it so much that we decided to return in 2025. Unfortunately, this visit felt more like a rundown hometown buffet. While the food itself was okay, the overall cleanliness was disappointing. Dirty dishes were stacked in multiple corners, making it hard to even take a nice family photo without clutter in the background. Many of the ladles and serving spoons were greasy, and some of the serving dish lids wouldn't stay open, making it difficult to serve yourself. The guy at the carving station shouldn't have worked alone bc he wasn't great. There were also no clear descriptions of the dishes--just basic labels--which I heard several guests complaining about. The staff, however, were working very hard to keep up with the holiday rush, and I truly appreciate their effort. I have no complaints about them at all. read more

We went on Friday night for the Seafood Buffet. I was sent a BOGO offer for my birthday. The dining room is a glass enclosed large dining room. The buffet is against the back wall Salad was 4 mixed salads but no lettuce type salad Sushi table had maybe 6 types rolled & cut & there is a formal sushi chef on hand Vegetables were few Meat was plentiful: steak, lamb chops, Korean style Kalbi beef, prime rib lean & juicy not fatty at all but meaty, beef ribs, BBQ char sui & more Seafood was King crab, huge Snow crab clusters, ginger crab, whole lobsters, lobster tails, lobster claws, jumbo meaty shrimp, oysters, Frito Misto with soft shell crab & more Desserts were outstanding the crème brûlée was the best I've ever had, pecan tort, eclairs, napoleons, cakes, mousses, chocolate fountain & a large ice cream station with candy too. The quality of food is exceptional Tony was our very seasoned waiter who also brought me a birthday platter of dessert & fruit. Service staff did a great job. The Buy One Get One price with tax, 15% service charge & no drinks, no tip as instructed in dining rules came to $175 I would definitely return to indulge in this Feast. The holiday seafood buffet here is amazing! They have lobster, king crab, snow crab, scallops, shrimp, oysters and sushi! Lots of hot prepared food, prime rib, turkey, salads, pizza, SO MUCH FOOD! And the desert area is amazing. There is a doughnut wall! And two kinds of chocolate towers, white and milk! And a man they're making the most delicious crepes. We ate so much and I still did not try everything! Oh and can't forget the bottomless mimosas! read more

Just had dinner there tonight for my nephew's birthday. Sadly, it's not the place it used to be. The food was mediocre, and the service was worse. Our waitress even told me the 15% "facility charge" printed on the receipt was for the hotel, and she expected an extra tip on top of that. Well... if she had actually come by to refill water or brought the things I asked for--instead of telling me "no"--I might've considered it. So, I crossed this place out from my list. My parents and I recently booked a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood and stayed at the Hilton where Cafe Sierra is located. We dined here for breakfast one morning, and the service from Javier had us return for another breakfast before we headed home the next day. He was super friendly, offered to refill our juice even though it's on the buffet beverage station. Loved the attentiveness and the ability to order toast as well. This is a more upscale breakfast buffet, but the interior of the dining area makes it worth it along with the food selection and service. In addition to omelettes, you can get eggs to order so don't hesitate to ask at the omelette station. Also ask your server for toast to order as well. These little touches make this buffet a must have when staying in the Hilton to start your day. read more
