I was picking up dinner for six people from Cafe Spice and it went smoothly. I called ahead to order and the young lady taking my order was very friendly and repeated it all correctly back to me. The large order was ready when I arrived to pick it up and I was greeted by the owner who presented me with two mango drinks on the house. Yum. She again repeated the order back to me and gave me a total of $134.50 which was not a lot considering I had ordered Saag Paneer, Chicken Korma, Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Tikka Masala, 4 orders of Naan, extra rice, and Raita. It was a lot of food which was shared amongst the six and very little was left over. Everything was absolutely delicious. This is my favorite restaurant around. Every time I dine in or take out, everything is tasty and fresh and plentiful. The owners are extremely friendly and kind. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and cozy.

I got food from Cafe Spice with some friends last night. I had never had it before, but after hearing it was good we ordered a larger selection of items from their menu. We ordered through Grubhub, but the order arrived on time and was complete, so to the extend I was exposed to their service, it was good. Also, didn't go to the restaurant, so can't comment on ambiance either. What I can comment on is the food. And my comment is that is is delicious!!! We ordered chicken vindaloo (spicy and mild), channa sag, and channa masala. All four were packed with flavor. We also ordered veggie samosas, naan, and pakora. They were good and the sauces they came with were great. Overall, I would give the food 5/5 stars. The reason for my only 3 star review is the value was only 1 or 2 stars. Not counting delivery fees or tips, our order was about $180 and we had no leftovers. Not only were the entrees expensive ($25 each), they were also small. Maybe eating dine-in is a different story. And like I said, the favor was good. The problem is that it wasn't better than my local fav (Himalayan house) and it cost roughly 30% more money for 30% less food.

Nice ambience and decor. The bitter chicken stood out compared to most -- a little extra sweetness mixed in with the peppers. Would definitely go back.

We had been wanting to try Cafe Spice for a long time and finally made it tonight. We had a great experience. We went with a crew of 9 including some rambunctious kiddos and the owner and staff were warm, welcoming, and didn't seem to mind the occasional shrieks, impressive mess, or even the broken glass. In fact, the owner was kind, patient and helpful the entire time. She made some great recommendations and helped serve the meal. Important note, this place is BYOB, and they don't serve any alcohol, so if you want some, bring it yourself. The food was very good from start to finish. The mango lassis were delicious and kept the kids happy while we waited for appetizers. We had the veggie samosas and pakoras. The somasas were really good, a step up from the usual with just the right mix of flavors inside and a perfectly crunchy shell. The pakoras were like little veggie crisp balls and were very good too. For main dishes we had the shrimp malabari, the lamb mughlai, shrimp tandori and chicken tikka masala and the kids had chicken tikka masala and veggie fried rice. And of course we all had lots of garlic naan. The garlic naan was really fabulous, not your typical flat naan it was puffy and light with fresh garlic sizzling on top. So delicious. The curries were all really good, distinct and savory. I was spooning the sauces directly into my mouth by the end. And the tandori shrimp came out sizzling and filled the whole table with that wonderful smell. It all came with more rice than we could possibly eat. We really enjoyed our meal and will be back for sure!

All I can say is nearly EVERYTHING on the buffet was put on this plate.

It had been MANY moons (25 years) since I last had Indian food in North America. I was honestly dreading it....but my curiosity got the best of me. I was meeting a long-time friend for lunch, and I MUST say...IT WAS WORTH THE TRIP!! I asked ("Mom"-the sweet lady who worked at the restaurant) what should I try on the buffet...I was told...GET EVERYTHING!! I did, and it was delicious. The fish was probably my favorite. The chicken tikka marsala, curry chicken, tandoori chicken, saag subji...yeah, all of it was YUMMY!! GET IT ALL!!! The curry was not too spicy IMO. It was flavorful and unforgettable. Thank you for a lovely experience. Thank you "Mom" for guiding and being so patient with me. I will visit again the next time I am in town.

Great dinner tonight at Cafe Spice! We'd just left Vally View and spotted this Indian restaurant on our way home and decided to give it a try. We were warmly welcomed as we entered and shown to a table, given water and tasty salty yummy cracker type bread with dipping sauces to enjoy as we reviewed the menu. I order the Chicken Tikka Masala (recommended by our waiter based on my preference for "hot" spice), my husband the Lamb Saag, and naan bread. Our dinners came with a heaping platter of perfect long grain rice. The food was delicious and the wait staff attentive without being overbearing. We will definitely come again!

I am an early luncher so I don't know when lunch ends, but it starts at 11. As I said in my review, due to COVID-19 there is no buffet; the customer is brought a tray containing various different entrees, as well as naan, a couple of somosas, and… Read more

Our group of six went to Hyderabad Stories in Cockeysville planning to dive into their lunch buffet, only to find out they no longer offer it. Since we were already there and hungry, we decided to stick around and order from the regular menu and honestly, it worked out just fine. The space used to be San Sushi before the owner retired, and the interior layout is pretty much the same. It is simple and perfectly serviceable for small to medium groups. When we visited, we were actually the only occupied table, which made for a quiet and relaxed lunch. Since there was no official buffet, we decided to make our own by ordering a half dozen dishes to share. We went with a variety of curries, multiple biryanis, butter chicken, samosas, and plenty of naan for the table. Everything came out at a great pace and the service was very friendly and efficient throughout. The curries were the highlight for me. Some were dialed up with extra heat for the spice lovers at the table, while others were milder, but all of them were packed with flavor and tasted fresh. The biryanis were also excellent, with generous portions of both lamb and chicken. No skimping on the protein here. Pricing was reasonable, and when we split the bill it came out to about what each of us would typically spend at an Indian lunch buffet anyway. Overall, even without the buffet option, Hyderabad Stories is a great Indian food choice in the area and definitely worth checking out if you are craving flavorful curries and solid biryani.

After ordering all we did though, we kind of made it our own buffet and the price was very reasonable! Each person averaged about $30 . The biryani was so good and the rice was tender! The Apollo 65 fish appetizer was also delicious!! Very tender pieces of fish paired with a spicy coating was so flavorful! The egg noodle dish was also a table favorite! Honestly, you just can't go wrong here! My friend also wanted a spicy sauce and the wonders wife made a save that looked scary but soooo delicious!!

The décor and ambience of this restaurant is so serene and welcoming. As always, they start you off with a basket of Papadum (light crispy Indian wafers) and two dipping sauces. These are really delicious and a wonderful introduction to Indian food. Our foods started with an order of split Vegetable and Chicken Momo dumplings that were marinated in Nepali spices stuffed in flour wrapped and steamed and served with a special chutney. For our friends' main course, they split a Chicken Tikka Masala, which was boneless white meat chicken cooked with onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers. They also ordered Naan - the traditional unleavened white bread. My husband had his favorite, the Tandoori Shrimp. It was a very generous portion of jumbo shrimp marinated in an herb mixture and delicately broiled in our tandoori clay oven served with mixed vegetables. This came out sizzling. This came with a side of spinach that was more like a creamed spinach. It was the best we have ever tasted! It was creamy with the best seasoning. I decided to try something new and ordered the Chicken Pista Korma which was White meat chicken simmered in a mild pistachio sauce. I would have like smaller pieces of chicken, but the sauce was delicate and delicious. All of our entrees came with basmati rice. The portions are so generous we all had something to take home for another meal. Our servers were very attentive and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed another great meal at Indian Ocean.

For deeper explanation: The price was decent on the takeout menu that we got a few days prior, so we decided to give it a try. But when we called before driving over, we were misled about the selection, both regarding dietary restrictions and selection in general. And when we arrived, we were told the coupons were not valid not the complimentary drink, because those were old menus. But it was same flyer one of the staff gave me a couple days before and that they had at the front of the restaurant which I grabbed to double check pricing and deals... the fine print said was 2022, which I missed because why would I question that anyway if it was from the restaurant that same day. The food was mediocre... save for the samosas. The bathrooms were not great either, and in need of repairs. And when we went to pay it turned out the price per person was much higher than their flyer stated. There were no signs and no mention of the actual price, even with me carrying the flyer from their front area in with me. The price per person was similar to the Indian lunch buffets that I go to closer to my home, but those places have a much higher selection. The selection at India Palace was very small, which for the expected price was not great, but far worse for what the cost actually was (again, the flyers they hand out are the wrong price!). From start to finish, I feel it ended up being a waste of time and money, and left a very bad impression all around.
