The service was friendly w/a smile from the moment we walked in the door. The food was so good. They serve breakfast and/or lunch all day long. I had a chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, fried okra, all white gravy & a biscuit & a Diet Coke.My son had 2 fried eggs, 8 oz steak, side of link sausage (3 pieces) & side of bacon (3 pieces) and coffee & a biscuit. Total w/out tip $42. We couldn't have ask for better service or food. I'll be back for sure.

I've been here twice in recent months. I found this place with a "breakfast" search on Google maps because I was not finding much in the area that did anything for me. They open at six in the morning, and I'm a particularly early riser, so I waited until a little after six to show up and was surprised to find quite a few people already in there. Customers informed me that they generally open even earlier than six because people want in, so in they get. It's definitely a place for local regulars. Everybody seems to know everybody. Two stark differences in my pair of visits. When I find myself in a place like this, I tend to sit at the counter and just keep to myself. On the first visit, a woman sitting a couple seats away made it her personal mission to include me in the banter and started introducing me to everybody. We ended up sharing jokes and having a grand ole time. The second visit, I sat at the counter again, and when somebody two seats away left, the guy next to me immediately moved one seat away from me like I hadn't showered or something. I'm not offended by this. I know what kind of place I'm in, and I don't ever want to force myself into such a tight knit group. Now let's get to the constants and the good: Lorri runs this place and I believe is the owner. She is a no-nonsense type person, but even if you're an outsider like me, she makes darn sure that you're taken care of on every aspect of your meal. She even gave me a to-go cup of coffee for the drive back to my hotel after I'd finished eating! I got the steak and egg breakfast both times, which I believe is in the fifteen or sixteen dollar range. At that price, I expect the steak to neigh and winnie when I stick my fork in it, but people of Yelp, I'm here to tell you that I believe Lorri has kidnapped a team of culinary elves from parts unknown because this steak is mind blowingly good for the price. Like I didn't feel as though I was "settling" for a lower quality breakfast in exchange for a lower price. This thing was TASTY! Out the door with coffee and tip, the steak and egg runs me about twenty five dollars. I asked Lorri how she makes such good food for such low prices. She exhaled, and said it's getting tough. I hope this place is able to weather the inflationary storms of the day and continue on, even if it's primarily catering to a regular crowd of locals. When you see a special place like this, you know. We need more Cafe USAs in this world and fewer Denny's/IHOPs/Awful Waffles. Thanks Lorri and crew. I'll certainly be back.

This place is USA all the way. We had a nice breakfast at exceptional prices. The staff was kind. I would not recommend the French toast as it was not very good in my opinion.

This sweet man came and catered at our wedding! And he made all kinds of food especially his world famous catfish and made us our special request of quesadillas and nachos we would recommend him in a heartbeat! And he made the ambience so heartwarming!

I like going here for breakfast, mostly. I think they have the best biscuits in town. They have a lot of regulars, but everybody is welcome.

Cafe USA is a simple home cooked meal type of place. The workers are always so friendly and the food is consistently good.

En route to Florida from Texas and after several road delays found ourselves in Shreveport at…read morelunchtime. A quick look at Yelp showed Strawn's Eat Shop listed at number one in diners locally. The inside is a mix of old timey and funky with lots of creative murals painted on the walls. We quickly received our drinks and ordered. Our waitress was outstanding but I didn't get her name. Our food was soon there and we dug in. My chicken fried steak was good but the mashed potatoes and cornbread were the stars. I'm not a big fan of salad or green beans but they were pretty good for vegetation. My wife enjoyed her catfish basket. She prefers cornmeal on catfish over flour breading and was pleased with the crispy cornmeal and the generous portion. Now for the main event. Pie! Strawn's is known for their strawberry pie and for good reason. It was the best strawberry pie that I have ever eaten. The whipped cream topping was transcendent and paired perfectly with the strawberries. My photo does not do this pie justice. My wife went with coconut pie and while it was very good the strawberry was the winner. Looking forward to returning to Straw's Eat Shop in the future.

Normally the service is fast and accurate. The eggs and meat were over cooked and the potatoes were well undercooked. Normally the meal is better. Couldn't send it back because the server never returned to the table. I won't return any time soon.

In town for a week for business and got tired of fast food chain food. Found this little "sandwich…read moreshop" a little off the beaten path and I'm glad I did. I was met by the new owner (just purchased it a week ago) and he explained that he only had a temp lunch menu. I asked if the club sandwich was on the temp menu and he indicated it wasn't but he had all the ingredients for it and would happily make it for me. While he was preparing we had a chat about the place and he said he wanted to experiment with the layout of the sandwich. It turned out great. Plenty of meat, right amount of cheese and toppings. The ONLY thing I'd change is the bread appears to be toasted on a buttered grill. I'm a little old school and would have preferred standard toasted bread, but that alone would not stop me from going again. Best of luck to the new owner and if you're in town, the extra 3 minute drive away from the main part of town is well worth it!

The Cuban is on the freshest bread and it tastes like the condiments and pork are truly homemade and the effort shows. My only criticism would be that if you are ordering online it seems like the menu varies even though they have the food available if you call. Second, I dislike that they are closed on weekends. It's the most opportune time to get food from there. So it's delicious when you can get it.

I had a barrel ages old fashioned. The bread was fresh and tasty. The menu has quite a variety...steak, chicken, seafood...something for everyone. We were going for steak. A filet was ordered and two of us ordered the 14 oz ribeye. From what I saw on other tables steak seems to be a favorite. The waitress came back and took salad orders, how we wanted the meat cooked plus another drink if needed. I ordered medium well. After a bit i order another old fashioned. The first one went smooth and good. Not too much ice, just the right amount of liquor. Chilled and good. The wedge salad comes out and it's covering the plate. Thousand island dressing plus real bacon bits. A nice touch. Just enough dressing. After a bit the ribeye arrives. It too covers a portion of then plate. it's a bit peppered but cooked right. The waitress asked us to cut into the meat to verify it was cooked right, they all were cooked as ordered. Truly a treat. The steak is gone, a little bread is left on the table, half the old fashioned is remaining. Definitely will return in the future if I'm in Shreveport. Between the service and quality of the food it's a must visit if you're in town.

The restaurant itself was very nice with a good ambiance…read more Service was adequate. Nothing above and beyond but the staff were friendly and attentive. For drinks I had the old fashioned. Not a home run but they were decently made. I ordered the beef song appetizer. It was tasty but the Asian flavors felt out of place. For my entree I had the snapper Hollis. The snapper was well seasoned and flavorful however a touch overcooked which made it dry. The crawfish and spinach risotto was creamy and delicious. I ordered the bread pudding for dessert. This was by far the most unpleasant part of the meal. The bread pudding was dense and lacked flavor. Overall, a pretty good experience. Although for the quality of food, I would say quite overpriced.
