This unfortunately places their coffee under further consideration with the proximity of highly respected competitors. Unfortunately, the coffee at Bar Latte is still sub-par. Their location is still the best, as it's a quiet sit-down cafe, located at the entrance to the Edgecliff Station, where lot's of people queue for tickets, wait for buses & abuse their lives due to often calculations. Their food especially breakfast and take away sandwiches are good quality, unfortunately they're not competitively priced, and could find that their local customers are not as loyal as they once thought, once the competition is tasted. There is outdoor seating, although I find the cafe tables with high stools often uncomfortable for an extended seating, and it's often very loud with the bus-stop directly opposite. This is what I experienced at the Coogee Cafe. I don't mean to say that the place didn't look nice, but the staff were friendly and provided good service, while clearly enjoying each others company as well. I just had a cappuccino, which was great, but it does not leave me a whole lot to review regarding food or drink, but It was an environement I enjoyed a lot and you don't get that everywhere.

The staff were all friendly. Some more attentive than others but they all seemed to be with the program. I had a soy mocha and I was pleasantly surprised, so much so that I ordered one for the road when we left (a very rare occurrence). Strong and sweet, as a good mocha should be. The food was great. I ordered the smashed avo and my wife had the corn fritters. The smashed avo was $21 and it is from memory the most I've ever paid in Sydney for two pieces of bread, some avocado, seasoning, and one egg. I actually really battled with justifying ordering this dish at such an inflated price. However, I will say, this was the best smashed avo I've had in Syd and I would gladly order it again. The avo itself had an excellent taste, not overpowering at all. The toast had some sort of a sun dried tomato past/spread over it and I think this really set off the flavour of the avo. Quite nice. My wife reported the corn fritters to be good, not bad, but not nothing spectacular. Obviously not a signature dish. Anyway, definitely worth going out of your way to make the stop.

Us poor, deprived types need to eat out too... The GF fruit bread I chose for brekky was actually really good (any of you aware of the crisis state of GF breads will understand the rarity of that statement). It's homemade, chock full of fruity goodness, and the coffee was large and satisying. The food was the biggest disappointment! I had the morrocan breakfast. It was bland with a capital B. The turkish bread with soggy and thinly cut, under several pieces of moist pan fried, thick unseasoned eggplant. I don't think the dish was spiced at all and there was so salt and pepper on the table for us to at least add some flavour to the dish with. ... about as far as the beautiful spiced dishes of Morocco as you can get.
