Tasty coffee, tastier scones. In fact, I may be a bit addicted to the scones. Service is usually very friendly, but with occasional trendy coffee shop angst thrown in, which is to be expected. I'd much rather go there than Starbuck's - a lot more personality. Cash-only, but I can live with that. Not really a sit-down place - the seating area's very small. This place has the BEST mocha hot chocolate I have had. I come here on Saturdays in the winter and for a couple of weeks I compared Zings hot chocolate with panera and dunkins and zings wins hands down, although more expensive. They serve it in this cool vermont pottery which I looked up and a cup is like 30.00! if you wanted to buy one. The people behind the counter are unfriendly hipster types but get past them fast and find a spot on the window and drink the hot chocolate. read more

Great people, great coffee. Not sure who they source from, but it's great "comfort" espresso: not too heady or complex, but still really tasty. Any day I can start here is better for it. Great place to sit at be window with a book and coffee on a rainy day (you can bake in the same spot on sunny days). read more

I really enjoy supporting the local, independent shops and, thankfully, this cafe has good food and drinks and a pretty welcoming, though small/tight, vibe. Prices are a bit high, but appreciate the fair trade/locally made emphasis. Muffins and scones are really tasty (and I'm really picky.) Coffee is not amazing, but I do like the chai. Ohh, and their ginger lemonade is addictive. I don't drink teas or steamers as much anymore and I try to limit the number of drinks I buy out a week, but Zing makes it so hard to resist. Thank goodness for the coffee ring, which despite the name can be used for any of their beverages (including the delightful ginger lemonade). I love this place. It's my go to spot for cold brew in Cambridge (and believe me, I've tried most of them) and the price isn't too bad either. A little less than 3 dollars for a small cold brew, which is actually a pretty decent size. I love how this place is in the bookshop because it's also one of my favorite spots, as well. And as annoying as the shopping center is you can usually snag a 30 min or less spot on your way to or from work! read more

I love this place more than 1000 white doves, all flying in a giant thumbs up formation. Most of the baristas know my name and they know how to make latte art. I don't have any gluten free/organic/fair trade issues, personally, but that doesn't matter. The food just tastes good, even if it is missing amino acids, or milk sugars, and is made by a real bakery. read more

I love this little coffee shop. The people who work there are mostly nice. Although, at times I have overheard them gossiping about the costumers in the coffee shop which is not that great. That is the only con. I don't like their coffee, but the chai is very good. They are known for there Vietnamese roll (they are delicious, but a bit over priced). The sandwiches are really good too, a complete meal on their own. Overall the place is very good, food and ambiance wise. read more

I've had mixed luck with their service. One day I had the best Iced Tea around, but today I got what amounted to half lemonade half tea - not what what I wanted. The staff asked if I wanted lemon which I said yes to, but this was way overkill (I can't taste the Tea anymore). I wish it was an actual lemon slice as its much harder to over do it that way. I think I'll give it one more try without any lemon. read more

I love this cafe. They have the most magical mocha. I'm not sure what they use (I don't want to ruin the magic) but I think it might be cocoa powder instead of the icky sweet syrup most every other place uses. I repeatedly go out of my way on my drive to work to stop at this cafe, it's that good. They also have very tasty treats from local bakeries. A favorite of mine is the pumpkin muffin. I was surprised to find some reviews about the staff being rude. I've been going for years and have always found the staff to be very friendly. Although admittedly they never remember my name for the coffee ring despite all my visits. read more

I want to love Cafe Zing. I really do. Its cute, I love that its in a great bookstore, and really, there aren't many other options in Porter. I've been about 10 times, and have never had a great experience. Last time I went there was several months ago. I paid a premium price for a large latte, which then was served only about 2/3 full. I asked the barista to please fill it up, and she looked annoyed, didn't apologize for the paltry coffee, and poured cold milk directly into the cup from the milk jug! For close to $4 I expected better service. I waited several months before going back, and finally decided to give it another try. Today I ordered and paid for a sumo cafe au lait, and the barista served up a small one. When I asked the barista to correct the order, they employees looked annoyed, questioned whether I'd really ordered a sumo (which I had), and never apologized for the mistake. And while I was waiting someone purchased a small bottle of orange juice in a glass bottle. The price was over $3! Premium premium prices and bad service ... I won't be back. [I do love the pizza shop though and have never had a bad experience there!] read more

I usually love everything about this place. I usually get an iced chai, which I LOOOOOVE there, and have recently switched to the cheaper iced decaf Americanos which are also QUITE good and satisfying, one of my favoirted iced decaf americanos in town, very like the real thing. Their pastries are also quite satisfying. Well it was only a matter of time before I said "today I'll get the iced coffee" wow am I glad they don't have an iced decaf and only make iced decaf americanos or I would have missed that good things. Their iced plain coffee is really bad. I don't know why, and I love them, so I don't want to hurt their feelings, but they really need to know, their iced coffee is watery and terrible. read more

Great place to read a good book or catch up on some studying with some ginger lemonade! Service is consistently fantastic. Their rewards programs (buy 12? 14? and get 1 free) is nice because your name is saved in their computer and you don't need to carry a card around. read more
