After a month in Mexico this is the first place I didn't like. The food was on the lower end of OK. The plaintains were tough and not sweet. The guacomole was acidic and everything was a little expensive. The wait staff were also underwhelming. I felt like I was disturbing thier day by being there. They are located at the bottom of Paseo de Montejo and are what we in the US would consider a diner. It's got that '50s vibe with neon and an old teal Impala on their sign. There's plenty of outdoor seating, and it was comfortably spaced out. They had barriers set to enter and exit in different places, did temperature checks and offered hand sanitizer. All of their staff wore masks as well. We had been by several times during our recent visits and they always seem to be busy. Brunch is very popular with local street performers gathering on the sidewalk. We stopped by one night for a light bite and both opted for Platillo Volador - or flying saucers. These are pressed white bread sandwiches filled with any variety of stuffings. My husband had Double Cheese and I went with Longaniza and Cheddar. They were both really nice and crispy on the edges while still light. There was a good amount of filling and mine with the Longaniza was packed with flavor. Each came with potato chips and a side of pickled Jalapeños and Carrots. They were so good that we considered a couple more. My husband also went for a Champolas, a thick chocolate milkshake ( they also offer a malted version!) It was thick and full of chocolate! The menu has a great mix of sandwiches, burgers, soups and breakfast items available all day. We'll absolutely be back. read more

We had a nice "Americanized" breakfast here one Sunday morning on the Paseo as bikes rode by. We started out with a large glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. My wife and I ordered eggs over easy, bacon, and toast. We also received hash browns and black beans with our dish. The food arrived quickly, made to order, and hot. They give you a lot of bacon with the dish. We really enjoyed ourselves watching the people and bikes go by. read more

I'm out here visiting with family and we stopped by to try this place out. I'd like to start off with me walking in soaking wet due to the rain and the employees treating me as if it was just a normal thing (which it is here) when I was ordering food with my family there were two men testing food to add to the menu and I had asked our server what it was it looked so DELICIOUS. It wasn't on the menu so I had to order something else. Well one of the men heard me and was so kind and brought us a plate for my family and I to try. If I could give more stars I would. We came here twice during our stay in Merida. Mostly because it was in the heart of the action during the evenings we were there. One night I had a banana split and one morning I had fried bananas and a coffee. We liked it better in the evening, for some reason there were lots of flies and bees hovering the tables in the day. Some of the bees were landing right on people's pancakes while they were eating. For that reason I knocked one star off. The atmosphere and people watching were the best part. The menu has an extensive sandwich list. Our waiter knew English which was helpful to us. Fun times. read more

I don't think that it's a great place. But they were open late, had something to serve me, were nice, and provided shelter from the rain. I really appreciated that! If hungry, in a bind, and nothing else was open, I'd go back. My husband really enjoyed his food. The food was super basic though. Not much moe than mayonaise for flavor, and I hate mayo. The salads look sad so I didn't order them. They had some nice music playing though. read more

We always saw it open late but parking is very hard so never being able to come. Finally we wanted to give it a try. It's an open cafe but there is a room with AC which we chose since it was in the middle of the day. We had a Super sandwich which was so huge and we split it. Home made potato chips was so good! NOT WORTH THE WAIT. The food took far too long to arrive. The coffee that we ordered took about twenty minutes to come, and the dishes themselves took an hour. It wasn't just our table, though. None of the other tables had any food, and there were dishes sitting on top of the counter for half an hour that weren't given to anyone in the end. The food itself was very subpar, and I would not recommend it even if the wait time wasn't excruciatingly long. If you are visiting Merida and don't want to spend the whole day at this restaurant, I wouldn't recommend coming here. read more

This restaurant is in a great location along the Paseo and the patio is very nice. My companion had a turkey club and French fries, and I had the ensalada impala and an ensalada de fruta. The turkey club was large but not terribly flavorful or moist. The fruit plate was very fresh but a bit small for the price. The ensalada impala was a very fresh salad with very thin balsamic vinegar to pour on top for flavor. The French fries were a bit soft and boring, I prefer crisp French fries. The fries were served with ketchup that had been watered down to the point where it wouldn't even stick to the French fries. That was unexpected and strange. read more

This is a staple for me when visiting Merida, no joke! As soon as my plane lands I head out here for a super club sandwich and a Guanavana drink! The best you must visit. This place has been here for a long time and you can go wrong after a long day of walking. The customer service is great and the outdoor sitting is good, they have an AC indoor sitting area if you want to take break from the heat, which tends to be really hot during the summer. read more
