A single woman, I was in Delray Beach alone and made a reservation through Opentable for Saturday night dinner. When the hostess saw that the reservation for was one person, she called over the manager, who, in a less than gracious and apologetic manner, told me the only place he could seat me was at the noisy and crowded bar, and that they could not give a table to a single diner. My wife and I were in Delray on business staying at the Marriott looking for somewhere to eat other than the hotel. We walked half a block to Caffe Luna Rosa and WOW...what a find! The food was amazing! The seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection and the pasta was homemade and cooked perfectly. We ate there multiple nights during our stay and everything we tried was great. Beyond the incredible food and great atmosphere what really makes this place stand out is the people. From the Maitre d to the GM to the wait staff to the bartenders, everyone made us feel like we had been customers for years. My wife and I dined at Caffe Luna Rosa for brunch in Delray Beach Florida this past April Fools day. There was no joke about the food, service and ambience. The day couldn't have been more beautiful. My wife ordered the eggs benedict with lump crab and I ordered the eggs benedict Canadian. The eggs were cooked to perfection. Made RESERVATIONS by phone for 2. When we arrived, Franco, the matre d said that he only had tables outside in the 50 degree, windy weather. However, there were many open tables inside. I asked what good is making reservations, if he doesn't honor them and no one mentioned outside. Does he keep inside tables for his "friends?" IF we go back, I will SPECIFY Inside if necessary. However, others may want to check when making reservations - inside or out. The waiter, Gabrielle, was excellent, and the food was good. Not sure that I agree with Franco telling everyone that it is "the Best Italian restaurant" in Delray Beach. There are many others that are as good, but honor reservations! read more

I am a local and visit Luna Rosa for breakfast about once a month. LOVE the food, the staff is friendly, and the location is awesome. I like how we can either sit indoors if you want a little AC, or under the awning if you want some fresh air. Bring some change and park at the meters along A1A (if you can find a spot), or most likely park in the electronic metered parking lot a few hundred feet down the road. Add a little walk on the beach afterwards... yes please! I mention these types of things, because I would find them helpful if I were visiting from out of town and have never been there. We travel to Delray once a year and our favorite restaurant by far is Cafe Luna. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The staff is always courteous. On our last visit, the owner sent over a special dessert to our table for our 5 year old daughter, making our evening that much more enjoyable. Little things go a long way! we went for mother's day. arrived early to take advantage of happy hour. we were told they weren't offering happy hour because they were busy? when i looked up happy hour it didn't indicate that they offer it based on how busy they are. this cost them the fifth star. this started me off in a bad way. we sat down at our table and oir server was Gabriella. she immediately diffused my dissatisfaction about the happy hour. our evening from there was all uphill. the food was fantastic and service exceptional. we have breakfast there often and it's always very good but this was our first time for dinner. will be back and will ask for Gabriella. read more

Food might have been good could the bugs stopped flying in our faces. Loud because bar was overcrowded. Too many people, lack of fans, and bugs ruined what may have been a good meal. PS- fished at least three bugs out of glass of wine on $60 bottle. read more

I'd actually give it 3 1/2, close to 4 stars. It was very crowded the night we were there, and it was incredibly windy so it was a bit of a cluster getting settled in. Stopped in for breakfast on a weekday, we had 5 in our group and were told it would be about 15 minutes to be seated. 30 minutes later we were seated at a table that had been vacant at the time we first arrived. Waiter took drink orders, about 10 minutes went by before all 5 drinks were delivered 2 of which were just water. At that time he took our breakfast order. Took about 30 minutes to get our food. Some plates clearly had been sitting as the pancakes that were ordered were cold. The waiter was asked very nicely if it would be possible to get the cold pancakes replaced or reheated and butter was also requested as there was none provided although there were some people that had ordered toast and some that wanted it for pancakes. He rudely replied, "we don't serve butter with pancakes, you have to request it". Other food ordered was ok, just not served warm. Server returned 10 minutes later with another order of pancakes, still no butter. Waiter appeared back within a few minutes and butter was requested again. He walked off in a huff and finally did return with butter that must have been taken right out of the freezer and would not be usable to spread on anything since if was so cold. The waiter never refilled anyone's drink. What we planned to be a quick stop for breakfast was now approaching 2 hours due to how slow they were so we were just ready to get going. We asked for our checks to be split with two of us on one, the remaining three on another. He rudely said "We do not separate checks, you get one for the table." Most unaccommodating restaurant I have been to, No cold food is worth tying up over 2 hours of your time and have such horrible service. read more

My family and I took a friend out for appetizers and we were so impressed with the tastiness and freshness we stayed for dinner. The staff were transitioning so they were not the friendliest at first but then the waiter we got was excellent! We had fresh lobster, fried calamari, a seafood with pasta, and salmon as well as a chicken parm. The pasta was delicious and all the food was fresh. We were picking off each others' plates to taste it all. We ended the meal with a great chocolate panache - fresh chocolate mousse and chocolate cake. Unbelievably delicious! I have heard a lot of great feedback from customers about this restaurant. I wanted to stop eat there before, but it was always so busy. I heard the breakfast is great with a sunrise. The restaurant just raised their minimum wage to $10.10/hour. I think this is great and we will head over there to eat today in support of this move. read more

Great food, TERRIBLE service! While we enjoyed our food very much, our waiter was surly and downright rude to our out-or-town guests. When asked for a pasta recommendation, he snapped, "I can't tell you what to order! YOU have to tell me what you want." He was generally inattentive and I could see him deliberately delaying bringing the bill to our table after we asked for it, wanting to get out of there as quickly as possible. Caffe Luna Rosa is one of my favorite restaurants. I have been coming here for years, whenever I travel to Delray, and have never been disappointed. The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is delicious, the menu is extensive, and the wine list is fantastic. An added plus is the restaurant's extensive gluten-free options. The veal risotto was to die for, as were the gulf shrimp, and when we asked for variations on the dishes, the response was, "No problem!" On top of that, it faces the beach. Great for families (I've been here with my kids over the years) and very romantic when it's just you and your honey. I learned something today I never knew, which is that the owner, Francis Marincola, GAVE part of his business to four long-term employees in return for their dedication. What a way to pay it forward. Yikes, what happened!! Does the tourist business go to their heads? I know it was Easter Sunday, but one would think that the restaurant would want their tables filled. We called for reservations prior to heading out, and was told that there wasn't anything available until 7:30. Understood - it WAS Easter. So, at 4:30 we decided to go anyway, thinking we'd sit at the bar. When we got there (around 5:00), the restaurant was basically empty. Huh? We were seated next to two women who were in the middle of their dinner, but who had obviously been drinking quite heavily. The waiter just kept serving them, without questioning their condition, and how they would make it home safely. Strike two. To put icing on the cake - our dinners were sub par. We ordered their usually outstanding Penne Alla Vodka - this time it was served minus the pancetta (it's on the menu with it). Eventually, we did get the pancetta, however it was browned and served in a side dish. My veal chop (tourist priced at $42), was supposed to be butterflied and pounded, served Milanese, with arugula and tomatoes. Unfortunately, the chop wasn't pounded enough, and I got a very thick, semi-cooked veal dish. Sorry Luna Rosa, won't be back, start thinking about your local customers a little more. read more

This review is for the breakfast fare at Cafe Luna Rosa. I'll start by saying the service was good, but who actually goes on yelp for service reviews? It's always irks me when someone trashes a restaurant and lowers their rating because they had a bad service experience or the food was too pricey. People want to know if the food was good or not and Cafe Luna Rosa's breakfast was poor at best. My "potato pancake" that came on the side of my Salmon Benedict was actually a fried hash brown I would liken to something out of a cardboard sheath from McDonald's. The blueberry muffin on the side was store bought and obviously cheap with a cute greasy wrapping still on it. It angered me to stare at it while I attempted to enjoy my ho hum Benedict and McDonald's side of potatoes. Beautiful location right on A1A. I would rather have had a good breakfast cooked by people who care about their culinary vocations, at a hole in the wall on Dixie somewhere, than sit on the ocean at Cafe Luna Rosa and eat that slop for breakfast. read more

food was good, service was worst ever. it started off with staff not knowing the difference between their sparkling, filtered or tap water. two of the three you get charged for. after 10 minute wait for the correct water we never got sparkling all night...the waiter and staff cannot tell the difference and all shook the bottle cluelessly. after drinking the first glass of water we realized the glass was broken on the bottom. the waiter seemed not to care and took glass and gave us a new one. his response was do you want to speak to the manager. the manager came over and asked what wrong and said sorry did you get a new glass? the waiter final response was he is just an ant there, and said there are a lot of things he would like to change read more

By far one of the brightest stars in the restaurant category in the entire City of Delray Beach. This restaurant is spotless clean, which, as busy as they are from open to close, I find surprising. The wait is always worth it in the end. Meals are brought out quickly and perfectly prepared every time. Wait staff is great, and friendly. The views, and the fresh air while dining inside with the wall of glass open is a treat. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you get, and the incredible atmosphere and location. I was going to breakfast recently with local friends. I picked them up and told them I decide on Caffe Luna Rosa. The reply was are you crazy, that place must be expensive being on the beach. Locals that had never been? I was shocked. They were shocked when they looked at the prices on the menu, and even more shocked at the meal. Needless to say they have been back repeatedly with their families and for special occasions. the service here was terrible. we ordered appetizers and they took 30 min to bring out tomatoes and cheese. also the fish sticks, were they catching the fish in the back!? i cant imagine how long the main courses take. does the staff even know how to talk? if you like slow service and no communication then this is the restaurant. for example they dont hand out menus when you are seated. so you are left confused and hangry asking for w stupid menu. not gonna lie, good food, if you want to wait hours for tomatoes and cheese!!!!!! read more
