I was in Tucson for work and came upon Caffe Luce after a meeting and stopped in because it seemed like an interesting place. Boy was I right! The iced latte was exactly what I needed after a day full of meetings and being out in the sun all day. I was greeted the moment I walked in the door and the staff were all very friendly and answered my questions about the menu and gave great suggestions. When I travel for work I like to step outside of my comfort zone for food & beverages, so it was nice to try a different flavor beverage than I normally go to... instead of my standard coffee. Also, the place was very clean, smelled wonderful, and was a nice place to sit and take a couple of work calls while I prepped for my next meeting. read more

Caffe Luce is a very solid spot in town to get good, fresh coffee. They roast their own beans and you can tell the difference from some other places that don't. The flavor is very pleasant. I like my coffee black and I don't feel the need to have to add anything to mask any flavors that I don't like because it's just that good. I like the location. I think it's convenient for when I'm in the university area. And I'm usually around at the times when it's not super busy so there's always a spot to sit. There is even a bit of space outside, which can be nice when it's not 1,000,000° outside. The prices are fine. The staff is helpful. All in all I think this is a top coffee place in Tucson. read more

The coffee here is soooo yummy. My go to is the mocha Azteca. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating, its dog friendly and the service is fast and friendly! I like the local art they have up and its right across the street from u of a campus. Highly recommend if you are looking for a coffee fix! read more

This place is a cute spot across from the U of A. I ordered a large latte with an extra shot and it was delicious. It was the perfect temperature. Lots of lattes are not made hot enough, but theirs was perfect. It has a few tables outside and many inside. It seems to be a very popular spot for the students. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. Coffee is mid and the employees are a disgrace. Came in and sat down, realized I forgot my card so I immediately started trying to add my card to my Apple wallet so I could buy something. Within 3 minutes of all this, an employee approaches me and tells me if I'm not going to buy something then I need to get out. I tell him I'm trying to add my card right now so I can, and he tells me to leave. What the hell. read more

This was my favorite coffee place to go to when I was still in college. The coffee was tasty, the people were friendly, and it was a nice cozy place to sit in with a friend or even by yourself to relax a bit between classes. It's a shame parking is such a nightmare around campus, or I'd still be coming here routinely. read more

Was looking for a cute coffee shop in Tucson and picked Caffe Luce. I was in between a vanilla latte and a white mocha. The barista suggested mixing both so I went with it and it was delicious! I did have to wait about 15 minutes in line when there were 2 other guests in front of me waiting for their order. We got lucky and found a parking spot on the street but I can see how parking could be an issue. I did see a parking lot not too far away. Would come back! read more

Caffe Luce has some of the best made coffee in town. I think their drinks are priced really well compared to some other local spots in the area and the quality is amazing. At the University location, there's also plenty of seating options inside and on their patio which is perfect for a hang out or study spot. There were not any food/pastry options when I went in, but that also could have been because it was winter break for the university. However, I have heard from friends who enjoy the pastries when they are available. They also have various teas which I have yet to try, but I can vouch for the vanilla latte with oat milk which is my favorite so far! read more

Second time here, the coffee is delicious and great customer service. This time I ordered the Azteca Mocha which is chocolate with cinnamon, Nutmeg. Very delicious not sweet at all just perfect. The barrista was really nice and did a design on my coffee which is what I enjoy the most "pretty coffee". Highly recommend paid about $4.50 for a 12 oz read more

Great coffee, great atmosphere. However, young woman working at around 2pm made me silence my computer, not allowing me to participate in my class. It was raining outside and I had no where else to go. Because of this, Caffe Luce on University will not be getting my service anymore. Young man working before her, named Taryl I believe, was much better. Love the coffee, but this is inexcusable. read more

I went here for the first time today and had an awful experience, I get that it was during the 1:50 rush but one of the girls working was so incredibly rude it made me never want to come back. The coffee wasn't even that great to convince me to come back, very bitter and not smooth. I was simply asking questions and she acted like it a STRUGGLE for her to work at a coffee shop. I work on campus as well and would never treat someone the same way. Girly needs to be fired. read more

Coffee: 3.5 stars Pastries: 4 stars Location and ambiance: 5 stars So--I'll be honest here. Caffe Luce doesn't have exceptional coffee. It's not bad--it's comfortably in the tier just under great coffee. But it's perfect location and ambience make it a prime meeting and studying place, that's where it excels. Better coffee than Starbucks, obviously. This place is low-key and they make a great Americano. I usually go to the one near the UA but I know the one downtown serves this AMAZING honey toast. I headed over to Caffe Luce to meet up with a friend yesterday afternoon, and I was craving for some coffee. For someone who drinks coffee for pure enjoyment (can't take much caffeine), I like a drink that is smooth, sweet, and creamy. And anything beyond that is a bonus. So, I ordered a decaf white mocha with soy...it was absolutely delicious. Not only that, it looked beautiful. The barista actually poured the soy milk in strategically, creating a very organic, leaf-like pattern at the top of my drink. I said, "Thanks for making this beautiful!" and he replied, "I try my best to not make it ugly." Well, he's doing a darn good job, I'd say. Something great about the menu is their sizes...chain coffee shops force you to buy a drink that you may not finish, forcing you to waste coffee and pay more for it. It's different at Caffe Luce. They have an 8-ounce size, which is beautiful because for some reason, I can't ever finish a drink that is more than 10 ounces unless I share it with someone. You can tell Caffe Luce takes coffee seriously because they want their patrons to have the size they want and something they'll drink to the last drop, which is precisely what I did with my decaf white mocha with soy. When I was there yesterday, every table inside was taken, and I was okay with it. I'm just glad that this local business is staying busy because it certainly deserves to be. read more

My friend and I came here after seeing a movie on the UA campus. It was around 8 p.m. and the food selection was down to some plastic-wrapped biscotti and two remaining pumpkin pastries. I had a pumpkin pastry and a 16-ounce hot decaf Aztec mocha. The coffee drink was good. The pastry wasn't bad considering that I don't like pumpkin-flavored anything. The place is quiet because the other customers were all on their laptops. Nothing wrong with the drinks or the prices, but they need to have more food offerings. I've been here a number of times over many years, always in the evening, and it's always the same story: we've run out of food, all we have is these supermarket biscotti and, if you're lucky, one or two remaining pastries. I don't know of any other coffeehouse that has this problem. read more

I've been here a few times now and I really enjoy the atmosphere, it's very inviting and chill and the baristas have all been very knowledgeable and kind. As far as the espresso, I was a little disappointed. It's not bad by any means but I feel that it's just basic. Nothing extraordinary about the taste at all. I even purchased whole beans to make my own shots at home and I honestly got more flavor in a bag of espresso from sams club. If you just need a pick me up, it's great, but if you like to taste the flavors and aromas of coffee, this didn't do it for me. read more

This is Tucson's college-town cafe. Students, professors, locals, '90s music, and really good coffee drinks. It is right across from campus, but not actually on University despite what the address says. If you are on or near campus, this is your spot. But if you are away from campus there are better (or just as good) places to try (Presta, Exo, even Black Crown if you are across town). read more

Best almond chai I've had in the states. I get it sprinkled with a lot of cinnamon. If you've ever had soya chai from Cosca (cafe in Europe), it's just as good. I've been searching for an equally good chai as Cosca's and I finally found it. Yay! Way to go, Caffe Luce! read more

I'm here for the cold brewed coffee, and theirs is delicious. Ask for a pump of caramel in the bottom - yum. Adds just a bit of sweetness! This location is super convenient to campus - so, definitely slower and more relaxed in the summer. The adjoining outdoor patio with covered tables is the perfect place to grab a quick coffee drink or meet up with a friend or colleague. They also have some treats for your enjoyment - I sampled a blueberry/lemon scone on one occasion and it was tasty and light. read more

Ok, Cafe Luce is my favorite coffee place in Tucson and has been for many years, but here is one thing that absolute drives me crazy. Ever since I started going here as a student, their small cups ALWAYS leak around the lid. I've asked them about this before and they said it was because their shipment of cups got a little crushed. But this happens every time. I'm not exaggerating, every single time I've gone over the years. I still going because I love their coffee, but it's incredibly annoying. I visited Sonoran House during their soft opening and got to try a couple things on their limited…read moremenu and preview their upcoming menu. The location has a beautiful southwestern chic vibe. I love the duality of having a coffee shop/bakery and bar/full dinner -- you can visit any time of day depending on what you're craving. Plus they have a cold fridge, small grocery section, and local artist goodies -- all perfect for getting a desert-themed gift or unique treat for someone. They have so many great alcoholic drink options and said they would be adding mocktails soon. I went with a 'tried but true' dirty gin martini and tried the truffle fries and chips (both gluten free). I'm super excited to come back and try their girl dinner. I also want to thank the servers, chef, and owners for being so kind to my group. We had a coloring night where we brought our coloring books and supplies and they didn't bat an eye and made us feel very welcomed especially with all our questions about their menu!

All 4 of us have extensive experience in the hospitality industry and appreciate the stresses. Since we are unfailingly friendly customers, as so many servers are, & because there were only 6 other customers at your coffee shop at the time, sharing our experience is warranted. We visited the Main Gate shop just after noon on Saturday, 4/18. The barista was wearing a cap & O'Neill-branded t-shirt; he has a salt & pepper beard. Requesting my cappuccino in a ceramic cup, he stated, with obvious exasperation, "You can just say 'for here'." He was also visibly irritated when we requested 3 Dirty Chais of various sizes & shot strength, as if this request was overly complicated. We would have ordered food, but he was so unwelcoming we did not. Nor did we linger. We have visited this location other times and have only been treated warmly. Clearly this barista does not represent the customer service your employees normally provide. You can train people to make a good coffee. Training them to be pleasant is more complicated & best documented. Hence, this review. An unpleasant experience like this has no place in Tucson. It's not who we are & it's not who you are either, I know. We hope this gentleman finds another line of work soon

It is very small so keep that in mind. Their outside area is great. If there's an event at the University you might not be able to get a seat, so just have a plan b for that. I also love the grocery area. They have some items here that you can't find anywhere else in town, such as specialty chocolates and certain brands and flavors of ice cream. They also have some basics like produce and meat. It's worth a visit and you can walk to it from both the 4th avenue area as well as the main gate area.
