This place is a must if you're in Padua. It is the oldest cafe in Padua, dating from the 1800s. I've been here a few times but have not actually eaten here. The only thing I've had is the famous Caffé (coffee) Pedrocchi which is coffee in a medium size cup with mint flavoured cream and a sprinkle of cocoa powder. The precise recipe is a secret. When they serve you they give you no teaspoon, because they say you must not stir it. Very different. When you have your coffee, you can linger here just like any other cafe in Italy. If you come in from the entrance and stay outside, make sure you walk in the cafe to the back and then into the dining rooms. They are spectacular! This is a great place for a special event and is set up to impress. As mentioned, I can't comment on the food because I've only had the coffee here and maybe an aperitivo once. However, I'm sure it won't disappoint.

The coffee Pedrocchi (mint coffee) is a frothy chocolate and mint infused espresso that's unparalleled in taste.

I only stopped in here briefly for a quick espresso, but I was surprised by the best espresso I have had in Italy. I saw these girls order a coffee with a peculiar green topping. YOU NEED TO ORDER THIS DRINK. There is a reason why it is so popular. It is essentially espresso with mint foam and a hint of cocoa. It is called "caffe espresso miscela pedrocchi", and if you leave Padua without having one, you are doing yourself a disservice.

We had dinner at Caffe Pedrocchi after a long day's travel. The cafe is located in a very nice shopping area. The decor is upscale and the sitting area looks nice. The service is great as server brought out food and drinks promptly. We had many appetizers. It started with the tomato and mozzarella cheese, brown rice salad and some fried vegetables. Drinks are nice and cool. For entree, we each had some vegetarian pasta which tasted very good. read more

A friend brought us here for the famous mint coffees. Simply put, they're coffees topped with their mint cream. You're not allowed to stir. You can't add more sugar. Just take it as is. Not exactly Philz Mint Mojito in the States, but we bet you'll love this if you're into minto choco things. For us, it was pleasant, better than you'd think if you're not a minto choco lover. What stood out the most to us was the temperature contrast-- smooth, hot coffee buffered by pillowy cool mint waves that meet your tastebuds. Worth a try! Ordered: Mint Coffee, Tiramisu Pastry (SO GOOD!h read more

Very disappointed! We made an order and then waited for 45 minutes for another waiter to come and ask what we have ordered! Then we had to wait for another 15 minutes for part of our order to arrive, and then another 10 for sandwiches. During that time they moved our table to accommodate a large group of tourists who wanted to sit together. Our expectations were destroyed irreversibly! read more

It's the oldest cafe in the area from the 18th century. Their specialty is a coffee with a thick creamy mint topping that they give you instructions on how to drink. Apparently, the appropriate way to drink your coffee is by sipping it through the mint mixture. Do NOT stir it in. The experience that they want you to have while drinking will be lost. The building is beautiful and they have some delicious pastries. It's a must do if you are in Padova. read more

Our brunch today was spectacular. Everything from the service, freshly made pasta, buffet items and wine were perfectly chosen and a delight to the palate. Can't wait to return to Padua to experience again. read more

This building is a historical landmark of Padua, established in 1826 as a coffee roasting plant, right on the town hall square known today as piazza garibaldi. Best customer service since day one. Customers allowed to sit and read, because of course this is one of Italy's "university paradise". It was known as the most beautiful cafe on earth. To me it actually remains this way. Our waiter Lucca was extremely accommodating. Please know there is table section for service and a section for self service. I ordered the p31 green spritz and aperol spritz which come with chips, peanuts and olives. Also an expresso coffee Which comes with the local biscuits. Unmissable stop after long walk in Padua. read more
So goes the local saying: "Padova, the city of the three withouts: A café without doors, a valley without grass, a saint without name". Caffe' Pedrocchi is precisely the café we are talking about, so quintessential it is to the local flavor. In fact, so I've heard, back in the day the Pedrocchi used to have no doors at all (the "valley" would be Prato della Valle, the largest square in Europe that come to think of does indeed have greenery, and the said saint would be sant' Antonio da Padova whom locals insist to call just "el Santo", like there is no other saint they could be referring to). There has been a long standing superstition surrounding Caffe' Pedrocchi that states no student from the University of Padova should ever go through it's entrance: he or she might never graduate. Thankfully I'm not a student, what allows me to enjoy what I consider the best caffe all orzo in town without any worries. Beautiful ambiance that doesn't seem to have changed much since it was opened in the early 1800's, service can be a hit or miss depending on the waiter on shift... do not miss Pedrocchi or you might as well have never been to Padova. read more

Their coffee! As in Caffe del Pedrocchi! You must try! Rain, snow or sunshine, it is always, not only a staple, but a true delicacy! Must try! read more

Cappucino was 4 euro - completely unremarkable. Hot chocolate with cream was OK. Honestly I'd prefer Land of Lakes packaged hot chocolate. Nice interior. read more

I really enjoyed the food (tagliolini gamberi) and wine :) But it was great just to sit there, watching people walk around the old city of Padova. A must when in Padova! read more

Pedrocchi is one of the most important caffé in Italy. It's in Padova's center, or it's Padova centre. Unlukely it's a little bit filmsy.

History
Established in 1831.

A Timeless Icon of Padua: Caffè Pedrocchi Nestled in the heart of Padua, Caffè Pedrocchi stands as a testament to Italy's rich cultural and historical tapestry. Established in 1831 by Antonio Pedrocchi, this grand café was envisioned as "the most beautiful café on Earth." Designed by the renowned architect Giuseppe Jappelli, its neoclassical façade and eclectic interiors have made it an architectural marvel and a cherished landmark in the city. Beyond its stunning architecture, Caffè Pedrocchi holds a significant place in history. It was a central hub for intellectuals, artists, and students, playing a pivotal role during the 1848 uprisings against Austrian rule. The White Room still bears the scars of that era, with bullet holes serving as poignant reminders of the café's involvement in the fight for Italian independence. Today, Caffè Pedrocchi continues to enchant visitors with its unique blend of history and hospitality. The signature "Caffè Pedrocchi"--a harmonious blend of espresso, mint-flavored cream, and a dusting of cocoa--offers a delightful taste experience that reflects the café's commitment to excellence. Whether you're sipping coffee in the elegant salons or attending one of the many cultural events hosted here, Caffè Pedrocchi offers an unparalleled experience that captures the essence of Padua's rich heritage. It's not just a café; it's a journey through time, inviting all who enter to partake in its storied legacy. read more
