One of a kind. This very charming cozy cafe is in a truly authentic old tiny house (low ceilings,…read moreexposed beams, uneven floors, wooden furniture and all) with a friendly proprietor. We discovered this little gem while visiting our cousin last year and promised to return on our next trip to Hildesheim. This place is the opposite of starbucks or typical coffee houses. Old fashion, simple and relaxed. The menu is limited but once you taste the kuchen with your coffee or hot chocolate, you will agree the menu is right. This afternoon, we each had a slice of apple, cherry and cheese cakes with our coffee and hot chocolate. DELICIOUS !!! A perfect place to go for a nostalgic mid afternoon break. Turn off your cell phone and savor the moment . Wish we had this in San Francisco.

Our server was polite and helped us through the menu, since we do not speak German. The breakfast meat and cheese plate with bread was delightful and he added a hard boiled egg as a side. The coffee, cappuccino, and orange juice were all good. They have sparking water as well. They accept cash and cards. We would comeback for breakfast, pastries, or ice cream. Thank you.

The customers are typically quite young, but you can also find some German elderly ladies enjoying a simple meal and pleasant company. The staff is very friendly and good-humored. You are usually served within minutes, even when it is busy. When you take your dog with you, it will get some water to drink without asking. Do not expect haute cuisine. The kitchen is quite simple, a mixture between Italian and German home cooking. But the dishes are well-prepared, plenty and served steaming hot. Vegetarians will appreciate the variety of vegetarian pizza's and casseroles. Prices are very reasonable too. Pizza's start at four euro, other dishes cost between five and ten euro. So you can easily afford another glass of refreshing Hefeweizen. During Summer, you can also eat outside on the square.
